**Annabelle**
I’ve been off my game the moment my plan landed.
I got too focused on my enterprise I disregarded any and every other thing.
The moment this whole feud began my mind should’ve drifted off to Stephanie.
I even thought about it while reading the news online. What happened to Stephanie?
She went off to radar even after loosing more than any one else. Fallon dropped her after probably years of keeping her hopes up simply because of a one night stand. I know how much that must have hurt so I totally understand her need for revenge.
The terrible thing now is that I’m being dragged into it.
Yes I mocked her when she dated Fallon but that doesn’t mean she has to involve me in whatever this is.
The awful part about it is that her plan worked. She pinned Ava and I against each other. I doubted the woman who was a friend to me when I had no one. I thought so evily of her.
Even though I hired John, a part of me had already proclaimed Ava guilty. I feel so disgusted with myself in the moment.
Stephanie shouldn’t be smart enough to do this to us. What happened to me? I lost all sense of belonging.
Right now, I might never get out of here. Never apologise to Ava for my thoughts and actions. I might never get the opportunity to do things right.
Never know if Fallon made it out of the operating room. I have so much to do and yet tomorrow isn’t assured.
The door creaked open and she walked back in. She took a chair with her meaning she might be here a while.
“Ok darling. You look really lonely so why don’t I entertain you.”
She beamed before bringing out an laptop.
“You see after Fallon dumped me without so much as a warning, he practically ruined my career. No wanted to hire me, I was tainted.”
She lamented before grinning again.
“Not to worry, that’s all in the past. You must be missing your friends, frenemies. Why don’t we visit them a little.”
She clicked on the laptop and the screen came on. She watched through the security camera as Ava sat with Fallon. A smile crept to my cheeks seeing he was awake.
“You know, I had big plans for Fallon dearest. He just had to ruin it all by getting shot. That bullet wouldn’t have killed you. My sharp shooter made sure you would’ve been paralysed but Fallon just had to play the hero..”
She grimaced but in a split second went back to grinning.
“I’m beginning to think there’s something wrong with her.”
I thought to myself as she continued.
“As for Ava, her career is just the beginning. Let’s just say Fallon junior won’t see the outside of this world.”
I shuddered at her threat.
“Oh no need to fake it Annabelle. We all know you’re happy at that news, it means there’s nothing standing between you and Fallon anymore right. Awwn, don’t worry. I’ll make sure you two get buried next to each other.”
I glared at her earning a chuckle.
“He’s alive and well, Ava is so happy. She thinks things would be better. I’ll give her a day or two to enjoy the moment and then when she least expects me, I’ll strike and take it all away.”
She frowned before grinning again.
“And you my dearest Annabelle gets front roll seats. Are you excited or what!”
She half-yelled. I shut my eyes muttering a few prayers.
“Someone please help me. Anyone at all…”
I thought, my heart getting shattered.
“Oh least I forget. I was saving the best for lady Annabelle. This is what happens when you try to play hero.”
She wiped and a picture came to view. A man laid on the ground obviously deceased. I strained my eyes to get a proper look and it turned out to be….
“Oh my God. You killed him!”
I gasped recognizing John’s body.
“He got too close. I must admit, I never expected him to be that competent. You should blame yourself for this. A young man just lost his life for your battle. I only did what I had to do for protection. His death is on you Annabelle, do not forget that.”
She picked up her chair and walked out leaving me with alot to think about.
My conscience pricked and I realized just how right she was.
“It’s a hundred percent my fault that John is dead. It’s all my fault.”
✍? Third Person’s Pov✍?
The body of Mr John had successfully been transferred to the morgue. Analysis were carried out showing a silencer gun was used at close range. Obviously Mr John wasn’t aware of his imminent doom.
The inspector in charge of the case hands the file over to the captain.
“What are we ruling it as?”
“All evidence points to a mistake. ”
“Alright then…”
“But Sir, I feel there’s more to this case.”
“But you just said…”
“I know sir. My instincts tell me there’s more.”
“Well your instincts are wrong inspector. Realise a statement and move on. That’s an order.”
The captain commanded. The inspector knowing his place gave a small nod and walked away.
He wasn’t settled. His instincts are never wrong.
” Sir, these are the belongings of the deceased. You requested for them.”
A fellow office says, he reluctantly collects them and the contents are very weird. Disregarding most of them, he moves for the phone.
It’s password protected but the first lock screen notification shows that a picture was taken.
“Take this to I. T. I want this phone cracked as soon as possible.”
He demanded, the office nodded and walked away.
“My instincts are never wrong. There’s something fishy about the case and I’m going to find out what.”
He mumbled to himself and strode away.
