Ranita didn’t really believe Amiya’s words.
But faced with the powerful bodyguard, she couldn’t resist. She was forcibly taken to the operating room and pushed onto the surgical table.
Ranita struggled, her head spinning. What did Amiya want to do? Was she going to take her baby away?
“What are you doing? Let me go! Amiya, are you crazy? This is illegal!”
“Hehe! I just want to draw some amniotic fluid and test whether your baby belongs to the Stuart family or not. It’s very important for the Stuart family,” Amiya chuckled, but looked extremely twisted.
“This child is mine and has nothing to do with the Stuart family!” Ranita tried hard to resist. The amniocentesis was dangerous; if something went wrong, she wouldn’t be able to bear it.
“How can it have nothing to do with us?” Amiya gritted his teeth. “I didn’t even want you to give birth in the first place because of what you did that caused Shannon’s miscarriage!”
Amiya sat in the wheelchair like an evil witch, her eyes full of shadows.
“If this child belongs to Brendon, then give it up properly! You owe Brendon and owe the Stuart family!”
“Where is the doctor? Why hasn’t he come yet?” Amiya turned her head coldly and asked.
“She’ll be here soon…” The bodyguard had just finished speaking when Carlee appeared; she was Shannon’s cousin who had performed surgery on her before.
“Mrs. Stuart… doing an amniocentesis now may not be a good idea… why don’t we wait until tomorrow?” Carlee hesitated as she spoke.
“No need. Right now! I need results as soon as possible!” commanded Amiya before leaving.
Ranita forced herself calm down, “Doctor… you know that forcing pregnant women into surgery like this is illegal?”
“I can report it afterwards.”
“I’m sorry… although I don’t want harm anyone but this is Mrs. Stuart’s request.” Pausing for a moment, Carlee continued, “Since Mrs. Stuart wants it done, there won’t be any evidence left behind for you.”
“Miss Bowman, don’t resist or else only yourself will suffer.” Pausing again, Carlee sighed before continuing, “I’ll try my best not hurt too much during this operation although there are risks involved but everything should turn out fine.”
“No! I refuse! I refuse this operation! Let me go!” Ranita kept struggling.
“Sorry about that!” Carlee pushed some anesthesia into her, and soon Ranita felt like she was floating. Her whole body was weak and she couldn’t use any strength, and her consciousness became blurry…
“Wake up! Wake up!” Someone gently patted her face, and Ranita’s consciousness gradually recovered. She looked at the nurse in confusion.
“You’re awake, that’s good!” The nurse waved at her. “Can you see clearly?”
Ranita nodded, still feeling dizzy in the head and weak all over.
“Rest for a while before going back! If you feel uncomfortable, you can have your family or friends come pick you up.” Saying this, the nurse pushed her to the observation room next door.
Ranita’s mind was still blank.
Looking at the snow-white ceiling for a while, her memory slowly returned. Amiya had forcibly taken amniotic fluid from her for paternity testing…
Ranita’s heart jumped to her throat.
She struggled to get up despite feeling uncomfortable and carefully lifted up the hem of her clothes. She saw a small needle hole on her lower abdomen which broke apart what little remained of Ranita’s heart.
What should she do? Will taking amniotic fluid harm the baby? Ranita’s heart was in chaos.
Calm down! Taking deep breaths several times helped Ranita calm down as she found out where to call on phone.
