**Annabelle**
I didn’t know why but I placed my hands on the wound, it barely helped. In fact more blood gushed out.
My hands were shaking. I hadn’t been in this position before, I had absolutely no idea what to do.
I quickly called for an ambulance but Fallon eyes were closed. His breathing was shallow and his pulse was weak at best.
“Stay with me please….”
I begged and prayed staring at my window. The bullet was a clean one, meant for me and Fallon saved me. I’m no expert but from the angle it was shot at , I can confidently say it aimed for my heart.
Who ever tried to shoot me or hired someone to do it is very skilled. If not for Fallon, I would be dead on the floor at this very moment.
I checked his pulse and it was barely noticeable. He’s slowly slipping away and the ambulance isn’t even here yet.
I heard the sirens and I heaved a sigh of relief.
“The ambulance is here Fallon. Just hang on, you’ll be fine.”
I assured waiting patiently. The doctors arrived moments later and got to work.
He was placed on a stretcher, I grabbed my credit card and my cell phone following them.

I paced around the hallway impatiently.
“Ma’am, we need to undergo surgery immediately if there’s any hope of survival.”
“Well do it, I left my card with the receptionist. I don’t care how much it costs.”
“It’s not about the money ma’am. Some papers needs to be signed and they can only be signed by a family member.”
“Are you his wife?”
He added making me freeze.
“No I’m not but….”
“You have to get a family member here to sign off so we can commence. There’s only a limited time so please hurry.”
He urged and walked away.
My first thought was to call his parents. They were old and I didn’t want to trouble their hearts. I knew I only had one option. Call Ava.
With shaky hands, I dialed her number waiting for her response from the receiver.
“You have two minutes to tell me why the heck you’re calling me. Aren’t you done ruining my…”
“Fallon was shot. He’s at city hospital. Get here quickly.”
I hung up before she respond and kept my phone. She’ll be here soon, Fallon would be okey. By tomorrow, the truth will be revealed.

“Where my husband!”
Ava screamed rushing in. Her bump was clearly visible but since the scandal was out, there’s no need to hide it anymore.
I quickly got up and she sighted me. She rushed towards me and in two seconds, landed a slap on my cheeks.
“You had a hand in this! You did this!”
She screamed as loud as she could.
I didn’t respond. Too tired, too stressed and never will I raise my hand to hit a pregnant woman.
“You can rant all you want, please do it later. His condition is critical, he needs to undergo surgery. You’re the only one that can sign the papers because you’re his…”
“I’m his wife.”
She completed confidently.
“Stay right here, I’m not done with you. Pray and hope nothing happens to Fallon because if a strand of hair is lost from his head I’ll come for you like you’ve never seen before.”
Her voice was cold and ruthless. She walked away and I breathed. Her threats meant nothing right now, I just wanted him to be fine.
She returned moments later and I raised my head up.
“Has the surgery begun? Is he going to be alright?”
I questioned agitated.
“Don’t pretend like you care Annabelle. We both know you hate him and want him on that bed. I also know it’s your fault he’s in there fighting for his life. For four months we were happy, why couldn’t you just stay lost? Did you have to waltz back into our lives. Fallon and I were happy, he was happy. Not up to a week you’re back, my husband is in the operating table and I don’t know if he’ll survive it.”
She spat out sniffling. Her words stuck to me and I realized she was right.
“If you have any decency left in you. Any at all Annabelle, you’ll get out. Leave, go far away because you don’t belong here and you’re sure as hell not wanted.”
She caressed her tummy, turned around and walked away.
It took a few seconds to regain myself and when I did, my feets moved on their own accord out of the waiting room and out of the hospital.
I promised myself I wouldn’t cry.
I didn’t do anything wrong.
I didn’t even try to hurt him or get revenge on him, I just achieved my dreams.
For seven years I sat back and waited, I watched as others were Happy, successful. I wasn’t jealous, I didn’t rush. I fucking waited. When I’m this close to achieving them, it’s problem after problem.
This only shows that I’m a terrible person. I’m bad luck and I’m definately not meant to be happy.
That’s it, happiness isn’t meant for me. I should accept that fact rather than fighting.
Ava’s right, I’m not meant to be happy. So what if John finds out the culprit. Doesn’t change shit. My reputation is ruined. I might as well jump off a cliff or something, it’s not like I’ll be missed.
How could my life be in ruins.
“Where did I go wrong!”
I screamed to no one in particular. I walked towards my car planning to do what I always do. Drive aimlessly.
Something caught my eye making me suspicious. Someone.
“R-Renee…”
I stuttered as he came into view.
“Hello darling. Did you miss me?”
He asks making me gulp.
“It’s been so fun messing with you. I almost feel bad. Almost ”
He adds cockily leaving me confused.
