Chapter 14

*Annabelle**
My alarm beeped slowly, I opened my eyes, and the rain kept on pouring. I still felt a little chilly. I shifted in bed slowly, but something weighed me back. Someone. I rubbed my temples softly as everything became clear to me. My parents, resting, blaming Fallon and finally, having sex with him. I shoved him away forcibly.
He didn’t stir. I got my clothes hurriedly putting them on. I raked my hands through my hair staring at Fallon’s semi naked body covered by a blanket. Bewilderment was the only feeling I had now. I licked my lips gob smacked about what next I should do. I couldn’t come up with a reasonable answer myself.
I grabbed a sweater, put on a slipper and left the house hoping by the time I get back he would be out of the house, it was the coward’s way out, but I didn’t want to face him or what he might think this means for us. It meant absolutely nothing.
I still hated him for what he did to me and will never change no matter what he does. I’m beginning to review pretending as his girlfriend and all. I knew I had just one place I could run to in times like this, I punched Ava’s number in my phone and waited for her to answer whilst hailing a cab to take me to her place, that’s if she’s not busy with a photo shoot or something. Thankfully, she was’t. She sounded worried, due to my tone. I got there and admired her little home. The thing I loved most about her was her independence. It made me so happy, giving me hope at the same time. I pressed the doorbell, it made a short song and I waited for her to open it.
Seconds later, the door unlocked and her face came up.
“Annabelle,”
She threw her arms around me hugging me tightly.
“Hey,”
I gave her a half-smile unable to even fake a smile.
“Come on in.”
She pointed to the house. I gave her another small smile, and led the way in. I had been here before, so it was’t too hard. I took a seat on her arm-chair, She took one opposite me glaring hard.
“What happened?”
She asked in a demanding tone that I didn’t even consider lying to her. Then, I decided to do something else. If I cancelled the deal with Fallon, Ava might get suspicious and be determined to find out the truth but if ending the deal was her idea, maybe, just maybe I would be clear. I read something once. It explained that for a person to master the art of inception, one has to make others think the idea was theirs and not yours. I snickered as a plan formulated in my head. If I knew Fallon as I thought, he would wake up and figure out I was here, he might already be on his way for all I know.
“Fallon and I had sex last night.”
I dropped a bombshell on her, her face scrummed in annoyance, maybe I didn’t know better, and she actually liked him more than she gave herself credit for.
“You two…”
“You said he would’t want sex, I didn’t decline because I thought it would look weird, and he had a girlfriend and all, yet he came to me.”
I stated in an annoyed tone.
“I…” She trailed off, I was going to make it seem, like I was blaming her, that way it’ll be her suggestion for me to stop everything.
“I didn’t want to take the job. It seemed too easy. I knew there was a catch, but you convinced me Ava, You!”
I raised my voice and she whimpered.
“The plan was working.”
I thought silently as I waited for her reaction.
“I’m sorry Annabelle, I swear I didn’t think Fallon would ever be like that, you don’t need to talk to him ever again because I’ll personally explain, I’m sorry Annabelle.”
She reached out and held my hand tenderly. Mission accomplished.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang. I didn’t get worried, I knew it was Fallon, but I was okay.
“That’s him.”
I trailed off, she frowned her face and stood up immediately, opened the door, as suspected, it was Fallon standing there with his hands, tucked safely in his pockets, his eyes immediately fell on me, I averted my eyes and stared at the ground below me.
“The deal’s off Fallon, I only agreed and convinced Annabelle…” She slipped, her eyes widened as she just called me by my name.
“I mean Isabelle…”
She quickly corrected.
“It’s okay Ava, I already know her real name because I know her.”
His voice was firm, I raised my head abruptly, silently begging him not to out me.
“What are you talking about?”
“Oh she didn’t tell you, we’ve dated before.” He added, I facepalmed myself. This wasn’t how the plan went in my head, he’s ruining everything.
“Annabelle, he’s joking right?”
She sounded really hurt, I lied to her about everything. I knew I would’ve said something, but now it’s too late.
“Ava, I…”
“You lied to me!” She fired, clearly upset.
“Get out!” She pointed towards the door, I shook my head lightly close to tears.
“Ava, let me…”
“Get out!” She shrieked, I shook a little walking outside.
“And you better stay out.”
She added before slamming the door on us both, I turn to face Fallon filled with nothing but rage.
“You came into my life and ever since it’s been one problem to another, stay the fuck away from me Fallon Mitch, I mean it!” I thundered as loud as possible, storming out afterwards leaving him on the porch.
