Alex Si was dazed when he saw Molly. He squinted, wasn’t she the woman he did a job for Many years ago. She hadn’t really changed besides the wrinkles and the dark lines below the eyes.
He looked over her head to see if she had come in Company of anyone. But it seemed she came alone. She still locates him with the old address?
Molly Mo looked at Alex. His face looked wrinkled and his back was slightly bent. He hadn’t changed except that he looked ugly, dirty and irritating. His hair looked grey and he looked like an old man.
Years have passed but he was still the same man she used to know. His subtle eyes and mischievous grin hasn’t changed over the years.
” Alex Si” Molly Mo called and looked around her to be sure no one was watching her. Alex understood and turned to walk a lonely isle to a dilapidated building.
Molly followed closely behind. She mustn’t meet anyone she knows here otherwise, she would almost be driven to her suicide.
Alex Si pushed open a dark room and got in, Molly followed and shut the door. Alex turned on a dim Lamb. The room smelled of the stink of alcohol and cigarettes.
At a corner was a spring bed where a dirty and worn out mattress lay. The ceiling of the room was half destroyed and the other seemed soak with rain drops.
The window was tiny like it was a poultry pen. A poor ventilated room and as soon as Molly Mo got in, she felt her tummy rumble.
She felt like puking blood. Is this where a full grown man lives? Alex cannot be less than forty years old and he still lives in such a place?
The money that Anita paid him back then was capable of buying him a little house. What happened that he remained like this over the years?
” What can I do for you Molly?” Alex Si asked, lighting a cigarette and puffing the smoke into the same stuffy, low ventilated room.
” I have work for you…” Molly Mo began.
Molly Mo slipped into her car and drove off. She felt like throwing up. She can’t imagine that someone still lives in places like this despite the present day civilization.
She shouldn’t expect anything good from a hired assassin. Alex Si is a killer and that’s what he does. There’s no way he could live a proper life. But well, that’s not her business.
She would think of a more convenient day to order Alex to strike. Theresa Mo has only a few days more to leave without her knowing it.
She had paid Alex a certain percentage of the money and would pay the full balance before he would strike.
When she succeeds in removing the obstacle on her way, then she and her daughter Tiana Mo will own the entire Mo’s business.
Few days later, the birthday of the young masters was taking place at the city orphanage.
The management of the orphanage had been informed and given some money to put things in order before their arrival.
Theresa and Junxie Li closed off the office that day. They had to be at the orphanage that evening to celebrate their sons.
Lanre bought them super kddies bikes and Julia bought them the clothes for the birthday celebration.
The both uncles ensured that everything was put in place. Their nephews were celebrating their fourth birthday.
Junxie Li ordered gifts for each of the children they would meet at the orphanage.
The various information they needed to know about the orphanage, like how many children there, was requested and used to order the number of presets for them.
When the kids’ parents arrived at the orphanage, they were surprised how good the place was.
The balloon was littering everywhere and birthday jingles were blasting in the entire orphanage. Cardboard papers were decorated with the writing ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY’
The boys were happy when they arrived and looked everywhere how it was arranged for their party. A hall had been arranged where all the kids in the orphanage were seated in their best attire.
The wall was decorated with flowers and posters with their best wishes to Tim and Lee.
When Junxie Li got in and saw the happily seated children he felt moved. These kids may probably not have known their parents nor the satisfaction of having a family.
But they were happy all the same. Seeing Tim and Lee emerge into the Hall, they started singing a birthday song along with the jingles.
They felt excited and honoured that these two kids have come to celebrate with them.
Everyone presented gifts to Tim and Lee. Some it was their drawing, others their knitted work and some just woven things.
Those things aren’t useful to the boys. But the kids that presented it to them gave them the best they can afford.
Such presents no matter how small they are, when it comes from a heart full of love and given as their widow’s mite, meant a lot.
Lanre remembered that was how he grew up. He had a vivid recollection of it. When someone was coming to visit them, they were told to prepare something to present to the visitor.
Seeing the kids doing the best they know how to do, he imagined what would have happened to him if he wasn’t adopted.
Rosa stood by Theresa’s side and the men on another side. Tim and Lee moved freely with the children.
They had been looking forward to when their father would let them out to play and make friends with other children.
Now, they got a chance, they were going to maximize the opportunity. They danced, sang and took photos.
Junxie Li had said everything shouldn’t be more than an hour. All they were doing was going to be snappy.
A few paparazzi were invited who covered the occasion. Junxie Li had warned them that if anything dirty was associated with the party, he would sink their company and the agency that employed them into the bottom of the sea.
When the boys presented each of the children gifts, they were happy and asked that they visit them every year.
But while everyone was excited, a little girl was at a corner. She is three and looked so unhappy. She saw how these uncles and aunties were treating the boys.
Are they all their daddy and the two aunties their mummies? Where is her daddy and her mummy? Are they not going to come and take her home?
When she got her gift, she decided to ask one of the uncles to help her find her papa. She’s a little Indian girl.
She couldn’t get the courage to ask initially, but when the party’s over and the two uncles waved to the children saying a goodbye, the little girl came and held Julia’s trousers.
Surprised, the latter turned and others watched what the little girl was going to say “please will you help me find my papa!”
