Theresa suddenly blurted and looked at Junxie. The latter paused and just stared at her. Have a daughter not have another child?
Junxie’s cheerful stare gradually turned to poker. He hadn’t discussed the issue of not wanting to have more kids with her, why the sudden request.
They should be talking about getting married and not having a child. He was going to discuss their marriage with her tonight and she is coming from another direction.
He was going to tell her they should get married even before his father suggested it earlier. It shouldn’t be having a child or daughter as she said but getting married.
Theresa Mo saw his sudden quietness and knew he was thinking of what to say in response. She kept staring at him, running her hand on his temple and to his hair.
“I really want to have a daughter,” Theresa added and looked serious. She wants a girl and his mother wants one too.
“We already have two kids, what do you want another child for? I am actually ok with the two boys..” Junxie Li finally replied.
He held Theresa’s wrist to prevent her hands from roaming around his face. Her touch was sending a sensation through him already.
“But I want to have another. The boys weren’t planned but this, we plan it. Besides, mum wants a granddaughter..” Theresa insisted.
He knew it, after Julia lost his unborn baby, his mother would turn to Theresa. So they both have planned a daughter and Theresa is informing him now because she knows he has to fulfill his part.
“So it’s you and my mum who did the planning right?” Junxie Li asked. He was looking serious like he was interrogating Theresa.
” Not so, she’s not a part of my decision. I only told her to be calm after Rita lost her pregnancy. And you saw how unhappy she was.
Then I promised her I was going to give birth to a granddaughter and she was happy and looked bright and cheerful again.
And I want to fulfill that promise as soon as possible. And besides, wouldn’t it be great if Tim and Lee have a little sister?” Theresa explained.
Junxie sighed softly. He turned his head away. Theresa made a little sense about his boys having a sister but if it was because of his mum, that is not an issue.
Julia will have another baby and she can be lucky to have a granddaughter. His mother will have a granddaughter but it doesn’t have to be from him.
” Julia will have a baby again and she might be fortunate to have a girl. It doesn’t have to be you Theresa.
I haven’t discussed it with you but the two boys are enough for me. We should be talking about something else, not having another baby” Junxie Li objected.
“I want to have a daughter that looks like me as well or like mum. You and Julia are like dad, what’s wrong that we women shouldn’t have one to ourselves?” Theresa found another reason.
Junxie Li gave a smirk ” first what makes you think if you get pregnant today, it’s going to be a girl? You can’t predict what we’ll get.
Secondly, forget about having a child that looks like you or mum. If you have a baby and it’s lucky to be a girl, she will be a female version of me.
Li’s genes are strong and that’s why we often look like our fathers. So your point is totally knocked out” Junxie Li countered.
Could Junxie Li be right? He and his brother look like their father. His sons are miniature of him. What if it’s true?
But even at that, she would be very beautiful. How sweet to have a daughter as beautiful as Junxie is handsome.
Well, that doesn’t really make any difference. A daughter is what she wants and he should give it to her.
“Are you saying you won’t give me a daughter?” Theresa Mo asked, feigning annoyance.
Junxie Li felt his forehead go blank.
Give her a daughter? Was he cultivating them in his scrotum? What kind of a hard request is this?
” We’ll talk about it later. I was going to discuss something else with you. I was thinking we would say it when we get into the bedroom but since we are comfortable here, I will say it as well” Junxie Li paused and looked at his girl.
Her unhappy look seemed to disappear and he continued ” I want us to get married. And I would be glad if it can be soon” he said.
Theresa Mo was quiet. They are engaged already and she has been waiting for him to suggest the wedding.
They are living together with their kids and share a bed together. What’s left is just legalising their relationship and becoming a couple.
“I am ready if you are,” Theresa replied. “Of Course I am, otherwise, why am I asking you for it” Junxie Li affirmed.
That way, the couple agreed to be married and Junxie Li suggested it take place in three weeks’ time.
Theresa agreed. She doesn’t have much to do, someone will be assigned to plan the wedding, take care of all that needs to be done.
Her own Is Just to put on a wedding gown and be married to Junxie. And that way, the wedding was planned to take place soon.
Junxie Li was happy. Finally she would be his forever. They would be happy with their kids and have a complete home.
“That would be fine. It then means I can be pregnant and not be bothered since we are getting married soon..” Theresa Mo returned to her earlier discussion.
” I will think about it,” Junxie Li simply replied. They might have a baby really to solidify their union, but until then, he would remain passive about it.
Julia had mixed feelings that evening. His brother was great, he dedicated the project to his baby despite knowing she’s no more.
How great would it have been if she was alive and was born. He is sure Junxie would love her as much as he loves his sons. The kids would have grown up as great cousins.
Did Rita watch the live streaming? Did she hear what his brother said? If she did, she definitely would be happy with it.
But she might not because not everyone in the city heard and since her family dislike him, they may not be interested in anything ‘ Li’s’
He had missed Lanre’s call earlier and hadn’t called him back. As he arrived home, he called him and told him he was busy and couldn’t attend to his call earlier.
Lanre asked him how he was feeling and he said he can’t say he is fine but his mood has greatly improved.
Lanre told him to try to sleep without taking the pills first. But when he discovers he couldn’t, he should take only one pill for the night.
” I don’t want to sleep, Lanre, ” he blurted out.
