Julia remained in his office and refused to see anyone. He instructed his assistant to shift meetings and visits to another day. He wasn’t in the mood to see anyone.
Theresa Mo went to see Junxie Li but she couldn’t access his door. He had refused to see anyone as well. Pascal Lee told her the boss said he wants to be alone.
She called his cell phone number and he answered. “My love, I am sorry…”Theresa Mo started talking as soon as he answered her call.
Junxie Li said nothing but listened to his fiancée. Theresa pleaded and said she knows he is unhappy with her but he shouldn’t keep punishing her by keeping distance from her.
“We’ll talk when we get home” Junxie Li replied and hung up. Theresa Mo sighed softly and closed her eyes, a bit relieved that Junxie answered her.
It wasn’t quite five minutes after Theresa Mo and Junxie Li finished talking that Carol Li dialed Theresa Mo’s cell phone number.
“Theresa dear. How’s Junxie? He hasn’t been answering my calls nor his father’s. Please talk to him to be calm.
He is upset with his family and you are the only one that can calm him down. However you can, please have a word with him…” Carol Li was soliciting for Theresa’s help.
Theresa Mo said she would do as Carol Li has said. When she ended the call with Junxie’s mother, Theresa wished and hoped that Junxie Li would listen to her.
When Junxie was in his office, Rita called him. He contemplated on answering the call or not. Eventually, he decided to answer his phone.
Rita thanked him and said it was too much of a compensation that Junxie Li gave her. She doesn’t deserve such an amount of money as compensation from him.
Junxie Li didn’t comment on what Rita said but simply asked her how she’s doing and when she thought she would be discharged.
Rita said she can’t really say but when she leaves the hospital, she would let him know she has been discharged.
During lunch hour, Julia didn’t feel like taking anything. But he wondered if his brother and Theresa Mo would be going out for lunch.
All the same, he decided to go and see him so that he can get things settled between them. But when he wanted to go in, Junxie’s bodyguards respectfully bowed before him.
“The President doesn’t want to see anyone,” one of the bodyguards informed him. Julia squinted, his brother not wanting to see anyone shouldn’t include him.
“I am not ‘anyone’, I am his brother and the vice president. Give way!” Julia ordered.
“You may be the vice president’s second master, but we are simply following orders. You can call the eldest master to let us know if we should let you go in…” the bodyguards replied and stood firm at the door.
Julia shook his head and went to find Theresa. As expected, she was doing some work. She didn’t go for lunch as well.
“Aren’t you going for lunch?” Julia asked as he walked in and sat opposite her. Everyone said horrible words at him the previous day except Theresa.
At the present, she is his bestie. He could confide in her and let her know how sorry he was at what happened to Rita.
“I don’t feel like it. My fiancé is angry with everyone including me. How can I possibly get the appetite to have lunch” Theresa Mo asked a rhetorical question.
Julia became quiet. He was angry with his woman as well? He had really been offended and he wished to get things straightened between them both.
“Theresa Mo,” Julia called and became quiet. He suddenly became unusually quiet and looked away.
Theresa Mo glanced at him when he called her name solemnly. He was the reason why Junxie is not happy with anyone.
“I regret what happened to Rita. I know everyone is not happy with me. I am not happy with myself either. But if Junxie Li is so angry with me, and wouldn’t want to interact with me, please don’t.
I can’t just stay away from you both. I need you to plead with Junxie Li to get calm and let it go of his grievance against me. Please Theresa, would you help me?” Julia pleaded.
“You annoy not only Junxie Li but me as well. The way you treated Rita was wrong and you know it. You got divorced and kept it secret so Junxie wouldn’t get to know about it.
How can you defy him so much? He loves you and would go any length for you. Why did you do that? You have hurt him very much and I don’t like it.
He wouldn’t even answer dad and mum’s phone calls. He wouldn’t spend the night with me in the same room because of you. Why Julia?” Theresa Mo reprimanded him.
Julia was quiet. He closed his eyes and quickly opened them again. He saw Rita again. Looks like this wasn’t just about nightmares, he was being taunted.
“I’m sorry Theresa. I wished that I Could turn back the hands of the clock…” Julia replied.
He wouldn’t have been so mean to her. At least, he should have waited and seen her give birth to the baby first before he chose to divorce her.
Junxie wouldn’t have gone against his decision then. He would have said, he could do whatever he likes as long as the child has been born.
“It’s ok. We all make mistakes in our lives. But hopefully, you will change for the better…” Theresa Mo stated.
If Julia would stop womanizing and dragging his family name in the mire, and he takes on a new character, it would be better for him.
“There would be a change, I promise” Julia said and Theresa Mo nodded. She changed the conversation and talked about her new clients.
There were so many requests that she’s not able to meet up with the demands. She had assigned some work to the other designers in the company but would strictly go through them before approving them.
Julia said that would be better. She shouldn’t overwork herself when there are designers working under her. If there are not enough hands, she should make it known to the President so that he can approve the employment of more hands.
Julia persuaded her to take something for lunch. He would order for a takeout for her. She agreed and he left for his office.
At the end of the day’s work, Theresa wanted to leave with Junxie Li but he wouldn’t be out of his office and she couldn’t get in.
She called him and said she was waiting for him so they could go home together. Junxie replied and said, didn’t he tell her they would meet at home, why was she waiting for him?
Theresa Mo was speechless.
