Lanre suddenly became quiet. Rosa asked him what he wanted to tell him. He felt he shouldn’t have told her he wanted to tell her something.
Rosa glanced at him again and squinted. She thought he said he wanted to tell her something a few days ago and in the early hours of that day, he paused while romancing her and said he wanted to tell her something.
Why the sudden silence? She pouted her lips and said nothing again. Did he cheat or does it have to do with her past life?
“Will you be available for lunch?” Lanre asked, concentrating on the steering. He would tell her then. He would gather up his courage and confess to her.
“I hope to,” Rosa answered, unsure of how busy she was going to be at work. “If we could go to lunch together, I will explain everything to you,”Lanre concluded.
There was silence between the two lovers until he dropped her off at her work place. He kissed her briefly and she stepped out.
Lanre waited and saw her go into the company before he drove off.
Rita became very uncomfortable that morning. She had left her mother’s place and went to work. She spent the previous evening with her mother and brother and didn’t call or send a message to Julia that she wouldn’t be coming home.
She wasn’t surprised when Julia didn’t call to ask her why. He doesn’t care about her to that extent. If she likes, she could go and get drowned in the lagon for all he cares.
But Rita lied to her mother and brother. She said she had told Julia she would be staying over the night with her mum. They’ve missed each other and would like to feel the excitement of her return with her brother.
Monica was happy with Julia already for letting Rita stay over. She was eager to meet him someday. Her daughter had married a man that loves her and always been considerate towards her.
Alfred didn’t say anything. Of course he allowed Rita to stay over, it’s because he would have enough time to play around with other women. That’s if he was aware that she came to see him and their mother.
But when she arrived at work that morning, she didn’t know how she’s feeling anymore. She was having severe pain in her belly.
Unable to remain at work, she decided to go home. She was going to rest at home before going to the hospital. But as soon as she stood up, she felt a wetness in her panties.
Quickly went to the restroom and discovered she was bleeding. It was mild but she was not supposed to bleed at this time.
Something is wrong with her and the baby. She needed to go to the hospital, not home. She got her bag and left the company. She told her colleague she had an emergency and hoped to return or call the boss later.
She was a senior employee of the company and the boss was often not around. Her colleague said ok and Rita quickly got into her car and drove off.
She doesn’t have a chauffeur and despite the pain, she was driving in the direction of the hospital. She was holding her belly with one hand and controlling the steering with the other.
The car kept swerving and many were saying horrible words at her. She didn’t mind them. What’s important to her is getting to the hospital.
Now she was sure, it wasn’t just a bleeding, she might be having a miscarriage. Her skirt was soaked in blood and she could feel it.
She was going to cry out in pain when Julia called her. She saw his call and ignored it until she drove into the hospital.
She answered the phone and pretended nothing was happening. Julia was having a video call with her.
“How can I help you?” Rita said as soon as she saw his face popped up. She has bitterness and hatred towards Julia like never before.
If she lost the pregnancy, it would be better that she is free completely from him forever but would blame Julia for the rest of her life for the miscarriage.
“What help can you offer me?”Julia replied. No greetings or pleasantries between them. It’s such that they live as cats and rats with each other.
Julia had returned home in the early hours of the day after his night with Xixi and was told the madam was not home.
The maid had to tell him despite knowing that there seemed to be no more chemistry between the second master and his wife.
But it’s her duty to report something unusual. Julia squinted and nodded his head. He can’t caution her for sleeping out and not telling him or whom she was with.
They were not married anymore and he hasn’t been spending his nights at home many times as well. What concerns him is that she should remember she was carrying his baby in her womb.
He went upstairs and showered. But he had no rest. He felt burdened about her being alright. Is the baby fine?
He wants to know if she’s fine but couldn’t call her to ask. He suddenly decided to call her when he arrived at the company.
He couldn’t stay still. Somehow in him, he felt his baby was in danger and that’s why he decided to call Rita. But seeing her through the video call, she looked alright.
Rita sighed audibly and just stared at him. “If you are the last person I should help in this life, I would rather throw the help to the dogs”Rita retorted back.
“My baby is in your belly. That’s enough for me. I don’t need any other help” Julia Li replied, grinning mockingly at her.
Rita snorted. The pain is becoming unbearable. Her body was shivering in pain and goosebumps already appeared on her body.
“Why did you call?” She asked, Still putting up a pretence. ” You were not home last night. It doesn’t concern me where you went to but if I discover you are sleeping with another guy with my baby in your belly,
You have no idea what I am capable of doing. Just make sure you play your games well”Julia threatened.
Rita was furious. “You think everyone is dirty like you” she hissed and ended the call. She was breathing unevenly.
She felt her legs heavy and she couldn’t step out of the car, she saw a woman passing by and beckon to her to come over.
As soon as the woman saw her, she hurried into the hospital. She didn’t wait to see Rita talk to her, her eyes were pale and she held her belly with her two hands.
Two nurses soon came out bringing a wheelchair and they saw Rita struggling to step out of the car in a blood soaked skirt…
