Book:Married to the President Published:2024-5-1

Lanre wanted to stand up to get the door but Rosa was faster “I’ll get the door” she said, walking to the entrance and holding the door open for Theresa.
The two friends embraced each other. Theresa looked Rosa head to her toes and smiled. She looked splendid and sweet and she can’t remember seeing Rosa looking so beautiful and attractive before.
As Rosa wanted to turn and Walk her into the sitting room, Theresa held her wrist “You look gorgeous this morning, tell me what’s the secret?”she asked teasingly.
Rosa chuckled and said “Thanks” she winked an eye at her friend seductively and Theresa Mo smiled, brushing shoulders with her.
” I see how great my brother’s work was over the night, were you able to walk properly?” Theresa teased and started laughing.
“Your brother is sweet Theresa,” Rosa whispered. She knew Theresa already know they had sex and she was teasing her.
“He’s having the Mo bloodline. That’s not a surprise” Theresa Mo replied and the two friends held hands walking to meet those seated at the dinning.
Theresa walked over and kissed Aunt Lulu’s chin and said good morning to her. Her aunt was happy and stretched her hand caressing Theresa’s side face.
When she left her aunt, she practically hugged Lanre’s shoulders. She didn’t kiss his chin but placed her face on the nook of his neck.
Lanre smiled. Theresa caressed his thick hair, his face before finally kissing his chin. Lanre let her express her excitement whichever way she could.
Aunt Lulu was all smiles looking at Theresa’s actions. She was Expressing her love and happiness knowing he is her brother. She was happy for the two of them as well.
Rosa would have felt jealous if it was another woman who went intimate with her Lanre that way. But it’s his sister, his twin sister at that. She smiled and returned back to eating her breakfast.
They were siblings, and never had he and Theresa being so intimate with each other. But knowing they are twins, the sudden closeness couldn’t be expressed.
” How are you sister?” Lanre said and Theresa went and took a seat, “I am fine. Good morning darling brother”
She took Lanre’s glass of wine and gulped it down. She poured another wine and passed it to him.
” Aren’t you joining us for breakfast?” Rosa asked next. She guessed Theresa Mo must have eaten but asked out of courtesy.
” Thank you girlfriend. I had mine before coming” Theresa replied and turned to Lanre “Junxie Li sent his apologies. He had a meeting by 7am and he had to leave when I was still in bed.
He said that to me before dashing out through the door” Theresa Mo explained. “Oh! That’s ok,” Lanre replied.
Soon the breakfast was over and the siblings were set to go and see their parents. Aunt Lulu followed them to the door and kissed both of their temples.
Lanre walked out, holding Rosa while Theresa Mo walked behind. She saw how romantic her brother and his girlfriend were and she felt sweet.
It’s nice that her brother and bestie are happy again. She wished them happiness and more love for the rest of their lives.
Lanre looked more handsome that morning, his designer suit was fitted on a designer pair of shoes. The shoes seemed to be similar to the one she saw Junxie wore, shining and of the best leather material.
Theresa wondered if that’s the latest shoes in town for men. She doesn’t know much about men and their fashion since she hadn’t really grown up with a brother.
When they stepped out of the elevator, Lanre asked if Theresa was going in his car or her Chauffeur would drive her? She said her chauffeur would drive her and Lanre would follow behind in his car.
” Am I dropping you off first, my love?” Lanre asked, turning to Rosa. She wasn’t with her car and hence he is obliged to see her arrive at work safely.
” I will go with you, ” Rosa replied, taking Lanre’s hand again. She seemed to get acquainted with him more than ever before.
” Aren’t you going to be late for work?” Lanre asked further and the reply that Rosa gave him left him speechless.
” We are going to see your mother and father. They would have been my parents in law if they had lived to see us married.
The least I can do is to accompany you to see them and introduce me to them as your woman” Rosa replied.
Lanre turned and stared at her with emotions surging through those eyes. If only they had lived to that day, he sighed and gave a slight nod and hugged Rosa.
Theresa’s eyes went moist again. She would have been an excellent daughter in-law to her parents. But fate never made them meet on this side of the world.
Lanre held the door for her and she slipped into the car. Theresa also went to her car and the chauffeur opened the door for her.
Lanre took his place behind the steering and before starting the ignition, he glanced at Rosa ” Thank you for standing by me” and then started the ignition.
Rosa’s eyes were teary. ” Anything for you babe” she said as Lanre drove out of the park and went after Theresa’s car.
It was a twenty minutes drive from his place to the cemetery where they were buried. When Lanre stepped out with Rosa, Theresa Mo said their mum was buried at the far end of the cemetery but her dad was somewhere near where they stood.
Lanre nodded. There were many years in between their departure. So definitely, their graveyard can’t be so close.
Lanre said they go to their mother’s graveyard first. Theresa handed a flower, identical to the one she was holding to Lanre.
That was when he remembered that he was supposed to get a bouquet of flowers on his way. Thank goodness his sister bought one for him as well.
” I didn’t remember to bring one for you Rosa. Forgive me” Theresa Mo apologised and Rosa said it’s nothing. She would hook her hand with Lanre making it appear as if the two of them dropped it.
Theresa led the way and stood before her mother’s graveyard. Her eyes were moist already and the tears were already streaming down her cheeks.
Lanre looked and saw the smiling face of the Woman whose picture appears on the tombstone. His mother!
His emotions let loose. Everything she went through since he was born to the time she died, seemed to play before him like a movie and he couldn’t hold back the tears.
” How are you mum? I’ve missed you mum, I’ve always missed you and I will forever miss you mum.
I brought your Son, your darling son that wicked people separated from you. But today he’s come to visit you…” Theresa Mo couldn’t say anything more.
She started sobbing. She didn’t grow old enough nor have enough time and memories with her mother. But she never stopped imagining how life would have been more beautiful for her if her mother had not died.
Rosa saw Theresa sobbing and went to hold her. She was shivering and her tears seemed to let loose from its reservoir. She cried aloud.
Lanre didn’t even glance at Theresa. He was having his own emotional pain. This woman gave him life, brought him forth but was not allowed to hold him in her hands.
That’s the greatest punishment and travail in motherhood. A woman carried a child in her belly for months and went into the labour room.
She went through stages of pain and eventually pushed the baby out. Only for the baby to be taken away from her. She heard his cry but never Carried him.
If he truly died, it was different. But he was whisked away and she was informed that her baby was dead. That’s wickedness in every sense of the word.
She discovered him and her heart yawned for her son. Wanted to get him back but instead met with her death. He wished she never knew he was still existing or that he truly died.
He is a doctor and can theoretically know what his mother went through. The emotions, the disappointment and the helplessness at the dying bed. Cruelty is damning.
“Mum..” Lanre said and his voice choked.
