As soon as he walked in, Junxie Li and Julia rose up to greet him. He smiled at the younger men and bowed slightly before his older brother Cheng Li.
They shook hands and he took a seat. He glanced at the two women seated and they bowed slightly greeting him as an elder.
He smiled at them. “I guess you both are my nieces,” Li Guang declared. He wasn’t asking a question, he said it as a matter of fact.
The two women are obviously beautiful. But one seemed more sweet and attractive than the other. But he doesn’t know who each belongs to.
Though his elder brother had told him his two sons are coming over with their women, he hasn’t met them before.
While everyone was still smiling at what Li Guang said, two women walked in. One looked older and one was a younger woman.
The semblance between the two women will make one easily guess they’re mother and daughter.
The older woman looked like she was in her early forties and the younger woman should be about twenty years of age.
The older women must definitely have quarrelled with someone before walking in. She was grumbling and her face looked aggrieved.
She walked in and hissed, her nose and lips raised up to her cheeks like one who is looking at a distance while standing in the sun.
” What happened aunt Luciana?” Julia asked. Everyone was surprised how the cheerful atmosphere was suddenly marred by the presence of Luciana.
Theresa Mo immediately knows she’s the woman Junxie Li warned her about. Her appearance of course portrays her to be a woman who is hard to get along with.
” I feel so clumsy in this damn fucking polo. Can’t we change the pattern of the dressing from this miserable outfit?” She complained and hissed.
There was a needle dropping silence. For quite some seconds, no one said anything yet but just exchanged glances with each other.
If she doesn’t want to wear the polo, she could dress in another outfit that is convenient for her. But on the other hand, she chooses to wear the custom made clothes and she’s complaining publicly.
She would have done well to have kept her complaints within herself. Rita and Theresa Mo exchanged glances again and the latter pouted her lips.
Julia has incredible people in his family. Some are good and great while others, it’s a shake of the head.
She hadn’t met Luciana before, but from this first impression, she doesn’t think she likes her.
Junxie Li subconsciously glanced at Theresa Mo and their eyes locked. The latter shrugged, a message of ‘like I told you before’ was passed between the lovers.
“Complaints Everytime Luciana. You better grow up” Cheng Li commented. His son’s wife and girlfriend are here. He doesn’t want her to lose face before them.
Every other member of the family already knows her and her attitude. But these women seated are most likely meeting her for the first time and she shouldn’t leave an unpleasant impression on them.
” You can’t say that brother in-law. I hope that now that our dear Junxie has become the master of the Li’s family, I expect him to bring about a radical change.
Your achiac method of ruling the Li’s family has been terminated. If nothing is done, I will henceforth not attend the damn family gathering again” Luciana declared.
The younger woman who had accompanied her whom Theresa Mo guessed should be her daughter, tucked at her. She obviously felt embarrassed at her mother’s attitude.
Junxie Li had a cold expression. He doesn’t know what to say that would not annoy her. He seldom talks to her except when it is necessary.
A daughter in-law is sprouting such words at her husband’s family meeting and she is not cautious about it?
This meeting had been existing for generations long before her husband was born. And there’s usually a particular wear that everyone puts on that day.
The use of polo was introduced two years ago by his father and he did it after consulting with the family members. He didn’t just stand up and do whatever he liked.
“If anyone doesn’t wear this polo come next year, such a person should not bring themselves here. Otherwise, I will have him or her thrown out” Junxie Li declared and everywhere was quiet again.
The silence was interrupted by the exciting laughter coming from two boys. They came into the sitting room and went to their father, one screaming ” daddy I caught a caterpillar and Tim couldn’t catch one” it was Lee talking excitedly.
Li Guang stared at the boys who referred to Junxie as their Daddy. Junxie’s kids are so grown up already? He thought they should be babies and still sucking.
“Alright. Some other time, he would catch one too” Junxie’s cold expression changed into that of an affectionate father.
The younger woman with Luciana also stared at the boys. They look so much like her cousins. Both Junxie and Julia look alike a lot.
But hearing them call Junxie Li daddy, she knew they were Junxie’s. Such cute little boys.
She stood up and pulled them to herself out of Junxie’s embrace. She kissed their forehead and hugged them both happily.
Even the complaining Luciana also held their little hands. They have the same look, same hair style as Junxie. They look sweet and adorable.
“Theresa, Rita, come over. I need you to help me do a few things” Carol Li called out.
“Is that you Carol?” Luciana asked, looking at the direction of the kitchen to find her sister in-law.
Carol Li came out fully to be seen in an apron. She was baking some snacks to add some flavour and satisfaction to all the guests present.
“Luciana dear” Carol smiled and Luciana stood up to kiss her cheeks. “Hello Aunt” the younger woman greeted , standing up and bowing slightly before Carol Li.
“Oh dear Paula, how are you doing?” Carol Li replied, waving at her niece a few distance away. She couldn’t come closer because the two boys were holding her hand.
Paula. That’s Luciana and Li Guang’s daughter’s name. She looks a bit like Junxie and Julia but just 40 parts.
Theresa Mo and Rita were already standing on their feet while Junxie Li stopped them.
” Excuse mum, I will introduce my kids and my girlfriend. This is Tim and Lee, my kids” pointing at the boys and smiling at them.
He turned to Theresa ” This is Theresa Mo, my girlfriend and the mother of my kids” Junxie Li introduced.
Li Guang smiled and Paula did the same. But Luciana sneered and looked at her from head to toe.
” Hello Uncle Guang and Aunt Luciana, nice meeting you. And to you Paula, it’s my pleasure meeting you”Theresa Mo smiled.
