Rosa was happy when she saw Theresa’s call. She answered her phone. She and her friend exchange pleasantries and Theresa Mo asked her where she is?
Rosa smiled and said where else could she be if not at home. That was when Theresa Mo asked her which home, with her mother or with Lanre.
There were a few moments of silence between the two friends. The mention of her being in Lanre’s place made her feel guilty.
She didn’t tell Theresa Mo about her break up with Lanre. She knew when they started but seems like she didn’t know they’ve parted ways.
Does it mean Lanre didn’t tell her as well? Why are they both keeping her in the dark about the present status of their relationship?
“I am in my place with my mother and brother,” Rosa replied in a solemn voice. She feels as if the healing wound was getting pricked.
Theresa was surprised. Why was there so long silence before Rosa answered her. Is she having a cross with Lanre again?
“I tried reaching Lanre but his cellphone number was switched off. So I was going to ask you if you are with him. But since you said you are home with your family, there wouldn’t be a need again”Theresa Mo explained.
Rosa said Ok. She is not with him at present. She can keep trying his mobile number. Lanre doesn’t switch off his cellphone except in cases of a flat battery.
Theresa Mo said Ok. She said she would keep trying to reach him. Then Theresa Mo was quiet this time.
“Tell me something Rosa, do you guys have a cross again?” Theresa Mo asked. She hopes the two of them understand each other and get married soon.
Rosa didn’t answer. She sniffled and Theresa Mo heard her sniffling faintly. She knew everything was not fine between them. Why are they both doing this to each other?
“What happened?” Theresa Mo asked. If she hadn’t called, neither would Rosa nor Lanre have told her anything. No wonder the latter switched off his phone.
“We haven’t been together since that incident, Theresa. Lanre broke up with him or rather I did the break up in my own way..”Rosa said, pausing at intervals and sniffling.
Since the last incident that led to their disagreement? But she called Lanre that evening and he said everything was fine or something like that.
Few days ago, she had lunch with Lanre and he said their relationship is fine, the way it should be.
Was Lanre teasing her? He was actually hiding things from her. He was pretending despite knowing she has no idea of the situation his relationship with Rosa is in?
Theresa became angry. She is not going to take it lightly with the both of them. Do they take her to be an idiot? How could they leave her in the dark?
“What are you just telling me Rosa? For so long things collapsed and you kept me in the dark?”Theresa Mo yelled over the phone.
Rosa swallowed a ball of saliva. “I thought Lanre will tell you how it happened. I couldn’t bring myself to tell you” Rosa defended.
“You thought!! Rosa, you thought humm?” Theresa Mo demanded. She paused. Rosa can perceive that Theresa Mo is angry with her more than she would be towards Lanre.
“I’m sorry Theresa,” Rosa pleaded. She had gone to see Theresa Mo that day and she had persuaded her to get calm and talk things with Lanre.
Rather than do as she was advised, she did the opposite. She allowed her temper and jealousy to take hold of her and everything crashed.
She couldn’t bring herself to say anything to her again. And her ego wouldn’t let her go to Lanre to apologise.
“Are you even my friend? You both are playing pranks on my intelligence. You wouldn’t say anything to me and Lanre also would not.
I was in the picture when your relationship started. But when you both decided to go your separate ways or better still refused to understand each other’s weakness, I was no longer important right?
It’s all your fault Rosa. Lanre is a good guy and his heart is pure. I can vouch for him that he loves you a lot. But you pushed him away from you.
You think he didn’t know you lost your first time? You think Lanre is some dumb ass’s medical doctor? He knows and he told me he did a long time ago.
If you break his heart and let him suffer through it, I will not forgive you Rosa, I will never..”Theresa Mo was furious.
She didn’t let Rosa explain anything again and hung up. If she hadn’t called her and asked her about Lanre, she wouldn’t have told her anything about the crashed relationship.
Rosa was lost. Lanre knew all along and he never said anything to her? From the few times she had stayed with him or heard him talk about medical work, she knew he was brilliant.
But how did he know? Did he test her in some ways? He knew and was not angry or say anything about it to her?
Was he waiting for her to tell him all these while? And when he wanted to sleep with her she said no. It is annoying. If it were some other men, they would insult her and rape her instead.
She started sobbing again. Despite that, she still insults him so badly and he doesn’t say what he already knows about her? He just ended the call that day and never called her again.
She sobbed until she felt satisfied enough. She then called Theresa Mo and she answered her phone.
“Theresa, I know I was wrong. But don’t blame me too much. I was jealous because I saw him with another woman.
But he didn’t call me back. He was angry after I insulted him. If he had called me back, I would have apologised and get things settled with him..”Rosa was building a wall of defense for herself.
“Can you hear yourself talk? You expect him to call you after you hurt him? You think yourself to be a god right? You created the mess and you are supposed to clean it up.
Men have ego. You should put your pride down if you love him half as much as that guy loves you. He was going to propose to you but you mared everything.
If you love him, go and find him and apologise to him. There are other ladies who want to have him but he cared for you alone and now, you failed him” Theresa Mo reprimanded her.
Rosa said ok and the two friends said goodnight to each other before hanging up. Theresa Mo felt relieved. Why is everyone experiencing one challenge or the other in their relationship?
Will she also experience something that would make her want to break away from Junxie? She loves him now and doesn’t think anything was capable of separating them or making her feelings for him waver.
