JAYDEN

You gotta be kidding me right now! “What the hell does he think he’s doing, disclosing himself to the cops. “Barely?” I know Gabe is a maniac but I didn’t expect him to be this blatant. In my posture, I could see the cops wide-eyed, perplexed. It’s very normal for werewolves to wander around barely, but it’s startling for humans.

“Were you kids playing mature games? ” The cops asked.

Officers, Catriona shouted. Don’t jump to conclusions. She whisper-yelled. A small smile appeared on my face when she yelled in their faces trying to clear the misunderstanding. Girl, are you stating that you were not doing what we think you were doing? The cops asked. If you aren’t playing mature games, then you have to let us inside the house to make sure that whatever is in your house will not interfere in your neighbors’ peace of mind. The officer said.

Don’t ask too many questions, officers. What you’re thinking we were doing is actually true, so you need to leave so that we can continue from where we stopped when you interrupted us. I promise we’ll behave. Gabriel said. Catriona trailed her eyes downward on Gabriel’s now hard bulge. Christ, what’s with Gabe? I murmured.

Oh Lord, Catriona whisper-shouted and slammed the door shut astonished. I’m very sorry officers for slamming the door in your faces but everything is fine here. She said brokenly her forehead pressed on the door.

It’s okay girl. We understood what was going on there, but please, try to be quiet. Those stupid cops said. I heard their footsteps matching away from the door house. Catriona spun around and ambled forward over to Gabe with tears coming out of her eyes. Before I could tell Gabe to leave the house, Catriona tiptoed on her feet and slapped him in the face. I cringed at the sound of the slap and at the same time surprised that she actually slapped him. Gabriel didn’t flinch or show any sign of effect of the slap and I wasn’t surprised because a mere slap, especially a human slap cannot affect a strong werewolf alpha like Gabe. I immediately pulled Catriona behind me protecting her from him because I know what he does to people that disrespect him. That includes women. And I am not allowing it. I was waiting and ready for the worst to come from him but was surprised when he smiled mildly at her.

Wow pumpkin, now you made me hanker more of you. Your slap felt good on my cheek. I don’t tolerate womens’ flippancy, but because it’s you, not the other women, I’ll let it go. And this is a special slap to me because it came from my mate’s beautiful and soft hand. He said and turned to me, it was unnecessary of you Jayden to cower her behind you. I can’t hurt my mate. Never. He said. I couldn’t help myself from sniggering. Your crazy man. You need to see a psychiatrist.

Mr Gabriel, please leave my house. I don’t want to ever see you again. Catriona said behind me. I wanted to jump up in joy when I saw how Catriona’s words affected Gabe.

“Please leave my house, NOW! Please, “respectfully.”

We don’t know each other that much for you to even call me names and call me your mate. Am not your mate as you keep on saying, and don’t call me that again. It’s disrespectful of you to stand in my door frame naked in front of those officers. Those officers know all the people in this neighborhood, and they are friends to some of them. I know for sure that those officers are going to tell them that we were having…. She closed her eyes for a moment thinking of the right word to describe what she means. They’ll tell them that we were intimately together. How do you think they’ll think of me Mr Gabriel? Already the whole neighborhood doesn’t like me. They all hate me, Mr Gabriel. Now you gave them gossip and to despise me more. She said with so much pain in her voice that she wanted to cry. My heart aches right now hearing her broken tone that has something painful behind it.

What is she talking about, that the whole neighborhood despises her? What did she do to them?

When I made eye contact with Gabe, I saw the same thing in his eyes. Hurt and remorse toward her. She must be having a painful story that makes her want to break down in tears whenever she thinks about it.

You heard her man. Leave. I told Gabriel through a mind link. He was very hurt but didn’t want to show it in front of me. He ignored me and looked down at Catriona… Okey pumpkin, I’ll leave if that’s what you want. I know you’re confused right now about all of this and sorry that I am making it more hard and difficult for you. And I am sorry pumpkin that I can’t say to you that I’ll give you some time because I am not a man with patience. I feel it deep in me that you’ll fall in love with me as you told me you did with Jayden. He said and I glanced down at Catriona, taken aback. She lowered her head down, blushing in embarrassment. Regardless of what is happening now, I love to watch her blush like that. Gabe looked at me and mindlinked with me……

Now i think we gonna be seeing each other frequently, Jayden Evers. I don’t care if you’re my mate’s mate. Just put this in your head, I will make her fall in love with me and make her mine forever. And don’t forget that we have a meeting to attend at your house. He said and gave Catriona a last glance before he exited the house. Naked. It puts me on edge whenever I think about the possibility of Gabe being mated to my mate. I don’t know if I can handle that. I don’t know what to do but I’ll make sure that he doesn’t get any closer to her. I know that I personally rejected her at first, and I regret it so badly, but now that she’s in my hands and mine, I’ll protect her from whatever threats.

Jayden, why is he calling me his mate? Catriona asked, breaking into my thoughts.

He’s just talking nonsense my love. She raised her brows. You too! She said, Me too, what? ” You just said “my love,” and he keeps on calling me pumpkin! Catriona, Gabriel’s head isn’t working very well. He keeps on talking nonsense only. I told her, trying to convince her so that she takes her mind off his nonsense.

But Jayden, something is really bothering me, you recently told me that mates tend to hear each other’s minds. I nodded. When your wild animals came, I heard both you and Gabriel’s voices in my head. Does that mean that I am Gabriel’s mate too? She asked with a puzzled look on her beautiful face.

I’ll explain everything to you once we reach the pack house. If I don’t take her out of here, Gabe might come back with some of his men and take her to his so-called kingdom, unwillingly.

Why are you calling your mansion a pack house? She asked. As I told you my love, I’ll answer every question you have, but for now, let’s go. Okay? No, I can’t leave my house looking like this. She said, Don’t worry about the house, I will call the cleaning service to come clean, and organize it. And am sorry that we were the ones that made this mess. I said. No, I have to be around when they clean it. We don’t have time for that my love. “How about sending pictures of the finished work on your phone? I suggested. That would be a good idea but I don’t have a phone. She said, Where is your phone? It must’ve fallen somewhere when they abducted me. She said, MMM, I see. How about sending them on my phone? She thought about it for some good minutes before she nodded. Okay, give me a minute, let me get some of the other things I need. And please put on some clothes. It makes me really uncomfortable watching you in that state. She said blushing.

Hold on a second before I get my things, tell me where you parked your car. I’ll go and get your clothes myself. She said and told her where my car is.

She came back with my clothes and grabbed her family photo from the floor and went with it in one of the rooms. I called the cleaning service and bought some of the other new house stuff online, of the things we broke and ruined. Catriona came back with a small backpack and we headed outside. I saw some of the people peering out through their windows when they saw us Walking toward the car. I blocked Catriona with my body from averting her eyes to them. I don’t know why I did so but I felt like it would break her if she saw them staring at us through their windows. Had those stupid cops already spreads the fake rumors?

I opened the door for her to enter. I told her to turn on the radio and search for any fun program. I did that to keep her focused on something from seeing those people’s gazes. When I started the car I saw them through the side mirror rushing out of their houses murmuring to each other. I’m dying to ask Catriona about the story behind it all but refrained myself. She was busy with the radio buttons pressing them mercilessly. She finally gave up and turned it off. Why did you turn it off? I asked. There’s nothing fun at this time. She said and went silent staring out.

What are you thinking about? I asked her, pulling her out of her thoughts. Nothing, she said. A person who’s thinking cannot lie that they’re not thinking. I told her. She breathed out a heavy sigh. I was thinking about how it’d have been if my mom was still alive? It’d have been different! I would’ve been not running away each time I see people staring at me. She said and heaved a heavy sigh this time and looked up at the sky.

Jayden, do you know that people’s gaze hurts sometimes? She asked emotionally.

What are you talking about? Is there something that you’d like to share with me? If you feel like it’s too heavy for you to carry alone, you can lean on me, and I’ll help you carry it for you.

That’s what scares me, Jayden. If I tell you my story from A-Z, I am afraid that you may also hate me and leave me. She said.

I averted my eyes from the road to her. Her eyes watery. When she saw me staring at her she quickly looked away. Before I could tell her that it’s okay and that she can take her time, whenever she feels free she can tell me, I saw her terrified.

Jayden, pay attention to the road. She screamed. I turned my eyes back on the highway and gaped when I saw seven rogues piled up in the middle of the road. I gripped the steering wheel trying to stop the car before I crushed them all. I stopped the car with a loud screech. I gazed out and pinned my eyes to the growling rogues.

Catriona, get back in the backseat and hide there. Don’t come out until I tell you so. She didn’t argue and unbuckled her seat belt. The rogues still in their wolf forms pushed the car from the main road into the woods. The car staggered out of my control now. Catriona’s screams were making it worse and very hard for me to concentrate on balancing it. Please lord, let anything happen to me but not her. She went through so much already. Don’t add more on her still fresh wounds. The car went on rolling downhill into deep wood.

After what felt forever it came to a stop, crushing on a big rock. Smoke started coming out of it and I smelled gasoline. I have to get Catriona out of the car before it catches fire. I turned to her and my heart almost came out of its position. “Catriona! She was unconscious with her face covered in blood.
