“I just came in to grab coffee” her colleagues continued, ” I need a booster to keep me awake if Iam to finish shift on two feet”
“Sure, go ahead, Iam just about to watch a documentary on VNN” Mira replied.
“What is it about?”
“Child trafficking and slavery, can you believe that?” Mira questioned, shaking her head.
“Child slavery in this time and era? Unbelievable!” Her colleagues responded.
Mira woke up with a start, she had overslept! She looked at the clock on the wall and heaved a sigh of relief, there was still ten minutes of her break remaining, she was disappointed, she had missed most of the documentary, especially her hometown part, the programme was now showing some children in a village in some Asia country being forced to make clay brick.
She saw children as young as eight tryi as haul stacks of bricks almost as heavy as themselves, tears welled up in her eyes, she watched as the camera crew approached the foreman in charge of the facility, they tried to question him as to why children were working on the premises.
A quarell started and the foreman and some of his workmen tried to prevent the crew from filming, what they did not know was that there were other hidden cameras secretly recording the unfolding events, Mira wished she could watch the programme to the end but her break was almost over.
There was a lot of work still to be done, she made a mental note to visit the VNN website to see if she could find anything more on the programme, she took the empty packet of chips, squished them into the disposable cup and dropped it into a bin, Mira then left the canteen and headed for the cold room.

It was a cold grey morning, just like any other at this time of the year, most people were still asleep, the only thing awake were Cockerel that had crowed to usher in the dawn and some stray sheep’s that didn’t seem to have any owners, until you tried to catch one of them.
This early in the morning, the few was layered thick on the grass, wetting your feet as you walked through it, Philip and Zell loved doing just that.
They were now sitting on a knoll to the side of the house, having gone through their feet wetting ceremony, from there they could see the lake for miles in both directions, the water looked calm and inviting, a lone fisherman, his small canoe wobbling as he tried to cast a net was the only person on the lake.
From where they were sitting, they could also see into their house, Zell could see his mother pacing, occasionally coming to one of the window as if expecting someone, he tapped Philip on the shoulder and he turned.
“What is up with our mother?” Zell asked, as his gaze was still pinned onto their restless mother pacing up and down.
“Don’t know” Philip gestured, ” I didn’t realize you had noticed as well”
“That is pretty strange, because she is normally not even an early riser” Zell responded folding his arms.
“I have a strong feeling, we will be getting some visitors today” Philip suggested.
“Really?”.
“Remember the Money you saw mum counting? Iam guessing they are coming for us today”
“This early morning?” Zell asked, ” I don’t think so”
“Well, it was just a thought” Philip signed.
Zell looked up, there were a few more grey cloud in the sky, it didn’t look like the sun would come out today.
“Run to the house” Philip shouted out of the blue.
A loud blast from a horn shatter the early morning air before zell could say Yes or No, they could not see the vehicle yet but it sounded like a bus of some sort, they waited for it to come round the dusty road in the bend, behind the hill.
A few seconds later it appeared, thru could only see the top of the bus because of how high up they were on the side of the hills, the bus which had ELF painted in large red letters on it’s roof, gave another loud blast on its horn as it passed by them and headed down the untarred highway.
