Bella’s POV
The moment we entered the restaurant, someone came to tend to us. “Good afternoon Mr King. Please follow me.” he said as he guide us.
He brought to something that looked like a booth. I went inside as my brother sat next me and Mr King sat opposite of me.
I sighed. He just smirked at me. I know he has something up his sleeve. I wish I knew what is it. A waiter came to take our order. We gave him his order as nodded his head and left.
Lucky it wasn’t like last time where I did understand anything. “Excuse me.” I excused myself to go to washroom.
Xavier’s POV
I watched as she walked to the washroom. “You like her? Don’t you?” Dean asked me. I was shocked when he asked me. “What?” I-I” I stuttered. Since when did I stutter.
He chuckled. “Its ok. I like you. You seem like a good guy.” he said taking a sip of water. Is it so obvious. Like first it was Andrew, then my mum, and now him.
I nodded my head. “But she doesn’t want to be with me.” I said sighing. “Typical Bella.’ he said sighing sadly. “What do you mean?” I asked questioningly.
“Look, when she was in high school, boys used to propose to her and all, but she always rejected. She has the fear of having someone to break her heart.” he sighed reminiscing those time.
“Why is that?” I asked him “She was 14 when a boy wanted to date her. And she agreed. But turns out the boy was abusive. He was 17.” this angered me.
“The boy asked her to be his girlfriend and she rejected him. He started to beat her until she fainted. She never told anyone, even me, about it.”
“When I found out about it, I beat the shit of the boy. He was never to be seen again. Heard he transferred or something.” he said anger evident from both of us.
Soon Bella was coming back. “Look, don’t tell her I told you about it. The reason why I told you is so that you could understand her.” he quickly. I just nodded in understanding.
Bella came just when the food arrived. We ate our food quietly. I didn’t know what to say. My babygirl had to go through all of that at such a young age.
I sighed. The more I think about it, the more angry I got. But when I looked at Bella’s laughing face, all my anger subsided. She was still happy after everything. Now I understand how she is so strong.
Damn. It just make my love for her grow. I smiled seeing her face. When she caught me smiling, she smiled back that swoons my heart.
Soon we were done and were going back. Once we reached the company, we got down. All the while I was staring at the angel.
Bella’s POV
He kept smiling at me that it made funny twist in my stomach. It was one of those genuine, innocent smile. I couldn’t help but blush.
Once we reach the company we got down. I turn to my brother and took out my keys. “Take this and go to my apartment. You are staying with me.” I said making sure he doesn’t argue.
“What no. Look I can find my own apartment.” he said trying to give me back my keys. “And until then, do you plan on sleeping in the streets. I don’t think so Mr. Anyway, lets make it up for the lost time. You know like old times.” I tried to convince him.
“Ok Tiger. Chill. Now you understand Xavier why I call her tiger.” I realised Mr King was watching us amusement clearly evident in his face. I blushed and turn away.
After we bid our goodbyes Mr King went inside the building and took the lift. All the while his gaze was on me. I couldn’t help the shivers that was running down my spine.
Luckily the lift doors open and I speed walked to my office. I saw Mr King followed pursuit as he went to his desk. He wouldn’t stop staring at me.
I tried to ignore it and went to work. I was working for hours, while Mr King sat in his desk typing in his laptop yet still staring at me. The blushed stayed in my cheeks permanently.
I was packing to go back home when I heard the phone that is connected Mr King rang. I picked it up. “Bella come in here would ya.” he said smiling at me. I nodded my head.
I placed my bag down and went. “Take a seat.” he said. I tried to deny but one stern look from him and I sat down. He was satisfied when I obliged.
He was just staring at me like a crazy man. “Mr King is there something you need?” I asked confused. He cleared his throat.
“Yes. I do.” he said as he stood up. He came towards as he lean on his desk. He cleared his throat. “Bella, would you be my girlfriend?” he asked as he nervously rubbed the back of his neck.
I froze. I couldn’t think. I didn’t know what to say. He just stared at my face. I was waiting for him to say this was just a joke, but no that did not happen.
He crouched down to my level. “Look, I know you think I might break you heart. But I wont.” he said looking deep into my eyes.
I don’t know what came over me. I quickly stood up and took my bag as I ran. Yes I ran. I didn’t bother waiting for the lift. I ran down the staircase. At that moment I didn’t care it was 60 floors down. All I knew I had to get out of here.
That’s when I heard him yelling my name, asking me to stop. “Bella wait. Stop!” he yelled but I did not listen. I just ran.
Somehow I managed to run down 60 floors without stopping. I realised he had made a few stops but still kept running.
The moment I came down, I stopped to take a few breathe. But when I heard his voice, I continued to ran. Luckily there weren’t anyone. If not people would have thought of us as crazy people.
I went out of the building and to the road. I turn around to see he was very much close. Too close. I just crossed the road. But what happen next made me halt in my place.
“Bella!”
