Her body felt numb. She couldn’t move.
So this is Kristel! What is she doing here? She asked herself.
“Good evening Miss Heather.” She heard the waiter greeted her. She nodded her head at him.
Kristel looked her way too for several seconds before turning to the waiter again. ” Thanks Phil.”
The server nodded at them before heading for the bar.
Heather frowned. Kristel knew the staff’s name. She on the other hand was only familiar with the bartender, Neo. She then scolded herself. She shouldn’t be insecure though at this point, it was hard not to be. She had talked to Blake’s ex on the phone but it was different now that they were face-to-face. It left her astounded. In front of her was the woman who she had been so jealous and insecure of. But she should erase that thought. This woman was a whore and Blake was done with her. She was his woman now whom he loved her very much and it would stay that way. With her head held high, she walked past her. She had made exactly four steps when Kristel spoke.
“Excuse me, miss.” she heard her say.
She stopped walking and turned around to look at her again. “Yes?” She asked with a slight frown on her face. She was wondering if she knew her.
“You dropped this.” She said as she held the card she wrote for Blake.
“Thank you.” She replied with a small smile. She seemed not to know her and she felt relief washed over her.
The other woman just nodded at her then left. Heather was just about to enter the door when Blake came rushing out.
“Sweetheart?” His voice sounded a bit worried.
Before she was able to reply, he suddenly enveloped her in his arms.
Without her knowing it, he roamed his eyes . He gave out a sigh of relief when he saw the empty road behind her.
(FLASHBACK)
Less than a minute ago, Blake was talking to Neo at the counter when Phil ran to them.
“Sir!”
With knitted brows he asked, “Were you able to give Kristel’s cardigan?” His ex forgot the garment on top of the counter so he asked Phil to follow her so he could give it to her.
“Yes sir but there’s one problem…”
“What problem?”
“Miss Heather was also outside and she heard me calling Miss Kristel.”
Blake uttered a bad word and quickly headed for the entrance. He was worried that Heather would think the worst. She knew his ex’s name was Kristel.
(At the moment)
, Blake put a small distance between them but his arms were still around Heather. He kissed her on the lips. He missed her a lot. He wanted to pick her up but he had to deal with some problems in the kitchen. He was still pissed with what happened this morning but he couldn’t stay mad wat her for a long time.
Heather didn’t know how to react and what to say. She had mixed emotions knowing that Blake was with Kristel. She should feel angry but she seemed numb. She didn’t feel any pain nor anger. It could be because she was still too stunned seeing his ex. She had been jealous of Kristel and seeing her in the flesh had a very big impact on her. She had a lot of questions in her head.
How did Blake react when he saw her? What did they talk about? Did they talk for a long time? Did he touch her? Did she touch him? What did he feel upon seeing her? Should she ask him the details? Should she tell him that she saw Kristel?
She couldn’t answer any of them. Maybe she was scared of what she would hear. Blake might not be interested in Kristel anymore but that bitch is. She was sure of that,
“Sweetheart I missed you. Let’s get inside.” He whispered in her ear.
He got her hand and she just let him. She couldn’t seem to know how they got in the kitchen. She just realized that they were already seated at the table when he called her.
“Princess?”
She blinked several times before focusing her eyes on him. He looked worried as he held her hands in his. “Sweetheart? What is it?” he asked but she just shook her head. “What’s that sweetheart?” He asked while looking at the paper bag which was already on the table. She moistened her lips. “It’s for you. You can read the card later.” Her voice sounded small.
He let out his clit-tingling smile and opened the bag. His smile widened when he saw the jacket. He stood up to try it on. He looked good in it, as she predicted. He would look good in anything actually.
“It suits you.” She complimented him.
He walked to her and leaned to kiss her. “Thanks sweetheart. I will always wear it. I like it very much. I love you.” he said and she just smiled at him. “What do you want to eat?”
Before she was able to answer him a female voice said, “I didn’t know that a kitchen can be a romantic place.”
She raised her head and smiled at Eve who looked amused. Blake’s cousin kissed her on the cheek.
Blake was grinning while watching them. “I was here first. You are fifteen minutes late.” he told his Eve.
“Don’t complain since I always do the closing.” Eve pouted and Blake chuckled.
“You know why. I am always excited to be with Heather at night.” he winked before getting Heather’s hand to kiss it. Heather looked at him. When Blake says such things the more she felt how much he loved her. He didn’t feel embarrassed saying that to his cousin. But after tonight, she didn’t know if she could still fully trust him. She must talk to Eve or Stacey for advice. Eve made a funny sound to let them know how cheesy she considered what her cousin said. She also let out a light laugh while Blake frowned.
“By the way cuzz, can I borrow Heather from you a few days from now?”
Blake’s frowned deepened. “What do you mean?” he asked.
“Lyn is organizing a bachelorette party for me.” she said.
“NO!” Came his quick and angry reply/
They looked at him disapprovingly.
“Stacey will be there. I will talk to Nick.”
Blake shook his head. “I don’t think Nick will allow her to go.”
“DUH?! We will just eat and drink okay? No male stripper.”
“I said NO and I mean NO!” Blake hissed.
“If Stacey will go, I have to go too. Besides Eve said it is just an ordinary party.” Heather said. That would be a good time to talk to her sister and Eve.
Blake shook his head. “Nick won’t say yes.”
Eve rolled her eyes before rising from the chair. “If Nick will let Stacey go, Heather will go too! Gosh! I am so lucky Lance is not possessive! Geeze Heather hats off to your patience!” She joked before getting out of the kitchen.
When she was gone, Heather’s eyes went back to Blake’s. He was looking at her too. Maybe the arrival of his cousin made her muster all the courage she had. He had to talk. If he would not tell her about his ex being here, she would tell him she saw her outside.
“What do you want to eat sweetheart so I can tell the chef.” he said.
“I don’t want any food but I want us to talk.” she said which made him frown. “I saw Kristel.”
Blake was expecting her to say that so he didn’t have any reaction. Phil told him about that.
Heather couldn’t read his expression. He was poker-faced. Not even surprise crossed his handsome face. She wasn’t sure if that was a good sign or not.
“And?” he asked.
“Why was she here?” She had a lot of things she wanted to ask him but she didn’t want to voice them all out. If he really wanted to tell her everything then she didn’t need to ask.
He straightened and leaned his back on the chair. He released her hand. “She just apologized for what she did.” he said.
There was silence for a few moments. She was waiting for him to give more details but he didn’t. They sat there just looking at each other.
Blake wanted to tell her everything but her blank expression stopped him. He wasn’t sure if she was really interested to know or she was just waiting for him to say something wrong that could cause a big fight between them. He wanted her to ask him all she wanted to hear and he was willing to answer since his conscience was clear. He had nothing to hide. He had proven plenty of times how important she was to him and all she had to do was ask.
“And what did you say?” Heather told herself that was her last question. If Blake wouldn’t give all the details voluntarily, then she would have to make a decision. She didn’t want to have this feeling of numbness because of his ex.
” I told her that was all water under the bridge now.”
Heather had no choice but to ask another question .”Have you really forgiven her?”
“Yes.” came Blake’s short reply.
Then she felt something. The numbness faded. Now she felt a little pain. Blake obviously didn’t want to talk about what exactly happened and what they talked about. His answers were all calculated. He was definitely hiding something. He had forgiven Kristel and maybe he felt something for her again. Though Blake loved her, the fact was, Kristel was a part of his past. It was possible that he had feelings for his ex which of course he would never tell her. She had to admit that she was selfish. She wanted all his love. She didn’t want him to have any lingering or returning feelings for Kristel. He should be all hers because she was all his. She touched her chest with her left hand. The pain was increasing. Blake was just looking at her. His eyes had a certain glint in them but his expression was unreadable.
He was waiting for her to ask more. He wanted her to stop being insecure of Kristel.
She stood up which made him frown. “Sweetheart?”
“I think we both need space Blake.” She said in an emotionless voice before walking away.
Blake was astounded. He was immobile for several seconds. When what she said finally sunk in, he felt heat came up from his neck then to his face. He angrily stood up and went after her.
When he got out of the kitchen , there was a commotion in the bar. One drunk customer started a brawl.
