Chapter 51 Poison!

Book:Twenty Years In Bondage Published:2024-6-3

Author POV
She stared down at the book in her hand, and glanced back at her mom, who was sitting in front of her, as many questions came running through her mind. She couldn’t stop wondering what the book is, she couldn’t stop wondering the secret that it holds. Too many questions were in her mind, that she didn’t know where to start asking it from.
“What’s this mother?” She finally asked, staring back at her mom in both confusion and curiosity. As much as she didn’t want to give in to her curiosity, she found herself, getting consumed by it, and she could only concur.
“This is grimoire, a spell book.” Her mother whispered back, not after looking around, to make sure that no one was eavesdropping on their conversations.
Octavia stared at her mom confusingly, wondering what could be the use of a blank book. She had seen the book before, she had opened it from page to page, but never got to see anything, how is it a spell book, when nothing is written on it? Gulping down the lump in her throat, she sighed frustratingly, staring down at the book in her hands. However, as much as she wanted to question her, she just couldn’t bring herself to doing it, knowing how tired she was, stressing her mother, was the last thing on her mind.
“The book cannot save us from the alpha’s wrath, it can only help protect you from the pains, inflicting on you. Practice the spell, and make use of it well, make sure to not miss a word.” She whispered to her.
Octavia stared blankly at her, but still nodded anyways.
“Promise me my child, that you will pull through this… promise me that you’ll leave here alive, that you will do whatever it takes, not to give in to death, no matter how hard it’s going to be. Losing you, is what I’ll never be able to take please.” She cupped her cheeks, and pleaded, while looking into her pale eyes.
Octavia stared back at her mother, as she felt her heart, hurting and breaking into pieces. She knew her mother is asking for almost the impossible, she knew she can’t promise her that, knowing how painful the torture is, but she didn’t want to hurt the poor woman, she didn’t want her to feel sad, so she just nodded, not saying a word. At that moment, she felt her tongue tied to her mouth, she tried talking, but she could only shed tears. Just the imagination of the torture she’s going to be facing in the future, makes her conclude that she can’t make it out of the place alive.
“Thank you so much my child. We’ll see again, always remember that we love you.” She cried, as she hugged Octavia tightly, like she didn’t want to let go, but too bad, it’ll only last for a few minutes.
After having a mother to daughter talk for a few minutes, the guards came in, and took the woman away, leaving Octavia to drown in her own miserable life.
A drop of tears slid down her cheeks, as she stared at them, taking her mom away, she wished she could do something about it, she wished she could save them, but that is the dream, that isn’t so easy to come through, the chance is rare.
Her mind wandered off to the promise she just made to her mom, as she couldn’t help, but think, how she can survive the whole shit, how she can pull through everything, and get out of the whole shit alive, but she knew that it’s almost impossible.
She stared at the spell book in her hand, which was glowing on her face, as it was before, and she couldn’t help the scoff that escaped her throat. She knew her mom was just trying to protect her, but too sad, it’ll only last for a short time.
She wiped of the tears in her eyes, and hesitated for a while, before finally opening the book, with a slim hope of seeing anything, but she was shocked to the spine, as she found something in the book.
She adjusted on her seat, and started flipping the pages one after the other, and surprisingly, she found each page, loaded with writeups, as she couldn’t stop wondering what happened. She quickly checked the cover of the book, to be sure it’s still same as the one she saw under her mother’s pillow earlier, and shockingly, it was same book….
Moon POV
I howled threateningly, as I matched towards them, not tearing my threatening gaze from them. How dare they try to attack the alpha! How dare all of these incompetent fools, to mess with my brother! I’m so going to deal with them, I’ll make sure I spare none of them, and when I’m done with them, they’ll never want to cross path with my brother again, even in their next lives.
Once I almost got to them, I let out a loud threatening howl, before charging on them, not after jumping high in the air, and landed on one of them, sending him rolling on the ground, even before he could defend himself. Without giving him the time to recover from the fall, I roared, and charged towards him again, but stopped and jumped pass the one, that came running to attack me, somersaulting in the air, while he hit his body so hard on the tree. I landed on my four feet, with my back, facing them, as I kept growling angrily.
Snapping my head to look at the two, who were laying weakly on the ground, I charged at the one I pounced on earlier, and in a swift, I landed on his body, and started giving him deadly marks with my claws, as blood came oozing from his body. He just laid on the ground, panting weakly, and I could tell that he was losing his life slowly.
After I was done with him, I turned to face the one that just hit his body on the tree, and without wasting time, I charged towards him, but before I could get to him, I heard howl behind me, and snapping my head to check what was happening, I almost howled, as I saw the third one, galloping towards Khalid, who was now laying weakly on the floor, not moving his body.
Letting out a howl, I turned swiftly, and charged towards him, but by the time I got to him, he was almost attacking Khalid, so to save him, I jumped on Khalid, as I felt a sharp pain on my back, and immediately, my vision became blurry. Oh no! Poison!…
