Dale
It was morning when my alarm woke me up, I reached to my side hoping to find her but found an empty bed instead. Maybe she’s outside. I sighed and slowly get out of bed and put on my pajama pants. Last night was a wild one for me, I had never wanted to please a woman as much as last night. She was so sexy without even trying to be, and I was craving for more.
Then I found it, her note on the pillow.
Dale,
Thank you for last night.
I’m sorry for leaving so soon but I have work to do.
Please give my kisses to Mable.
Have a good one this weekend.
Amanda.
Weekend? But it’s still Tuesday? Is she going to be busy for me until next week?
“Daddy…” her sleepy voice reached my ear.
“Hey, kiddo… ready for school? Let’s get you ready…” I took Mable in my arms and carry her back to her room. I pushed her words from the note to the back of my head, as I start my daily routine and focus on my little Rapunzel.
She was a little cranky when I leave her at school, but her teacher managed to persuade her to come into the class. I finally sighed and walk back to my car. I was about to open the door when one of the moms from Mable’s class came up to me.
Angelica always said that I was like catnip to these moms, there were always one or two single moms or even housewives that would shamelessly hit on me at school.
And this morning was no exception, I sighed and put on a fake smile as I turned to face the woman.
“Hey sorry to bother you, you are Mable’s dad correct?” A beautiful modelesque figured woman came up to me.
“Yes, the one and only. I’m Dale.” I shook her hand as she offered hers to me. Her hand lingers a bit too long for my liking, but she let go when she remembered her reason for calling me.
“Damn, you are cute! crap! did I just say that out loud?” she blushed obviously didn’t mean for me to hear it. It finally made me laugh, her demeanor was different from the other moms. It was like she really did blurt out her word unintentionally. It was… refreshing.
“Well, thank you? so, you’re new? I haven’t seen you around.” I rested my back to my SUV and decided to hear her out, I was actually a bit entertained by her.
“Oh yeah, new… I’m Katie’s mom Brittany we just transferred here. Anyway, Katie is having her birthday this Friday, here’s the invite. I know she might be reluctant in going cause Katie is new, but if you could please help me out with this one? for Katie.. she’s… she needs to adjust… it’s… damn it, sorry…” she was a bit teary, but blink her eyes repeatedly as she tries to hold herself together. She took a deep breath, and continue with her words.
“… Just tell Mable it’s a princess theme, she could wear princessy stuff, but there’s no dress code or anything…” she sighed when she finally accomplished to deliver her actual message to me.
“Hey, it’s okay… don’t worry we’ll be there…” I said to her trying to appear as casual as possible. From her appearance I could she that was struggling with the transfer, I would guess that she just lost her husband. I didn’t want to be a jerk and stir up any issues that she would like to keep private, so I just waited.
“Yeah sorry, I… I just.. got divorced… this is new for me, crap! please don’t think I’m going to unload my problems to you. This is for Katie, honestly… you can just drop her off this Friday, you don’t have to deal with my issues… shit! okay, I’m done… this Friday my address is at the invite. I’m going to shut up now.” Her eyes were everywhere, obviously uncomfortable with the conversation.
“Hey… Brittany it’s all good, us single parents should stick together yeah?” I offered her my sincere smile, and she let out her breath and smile back at me mischievous, causing me to raise an eyebrow at her.
“Oh Dale, you don’t know how the other moms had been talking about you behind your back… they’re… erm… vicious, I was a bit nervous coming to talk to you.” She laughed making her look younger than she appears just now. Her laughter was contagious making me laugh at her words, obviously knew already about the other moms.
We talked for another couple of more minutes until she finally said goodbye and walk back inside the school area saying she still has a few more things to do at the administration office.
The drive back was quiet as my thoughts were back to Amanda and her note, stating that she wishes me to have a good weekend. I still didn’t get what she meant by that, I decided to give her a call after I get back to my office.
Tom greeted me at the coffee shop and told me that he saw Amanda when he was opening up the shop. I was taken back that he talked to her when I didn’t even get the chance to say goodbye to her this morning. If she could spend the time to talk to him, why didn’t she wait until I wake up and said her goodbyes?
“Yeah, she was a bit in a hurry this morning…” Tom was also unsure in his words, it’s like he was hiding something from me.
“Tom? is there anything else? did she look upset?”
I was contemplating that it was not about her work after all. Maybe it was about her family, or maybe it was about her house that burned down which neither she nor Angelica would spare me with the details. There were a few maybes in my mind, and I didn’t like to sit with all the possibilities.
Woah there, slow down man…
You just met her and fuck her a couple of times…
Don’t scare the woman, give her some space…
You don’t know her that well…
My mind was playing the guessing game, as it was telling my other side of the brain to slow down and take it easy.
“Yeah, maybe… I don’t know, she just said hi so I send her off with a coffee to go then she left.” He shrugged at me but was starting to look uncomfortable with my questions.
“Sorry Tom, I didn’t mean to push but she’s kind of… I mean she’s nice, I kinda like her…” I smiled at him, assuring that he was good with his answers.
“Aww… boss!” he eventually teased me but then nod seriously at me, when Doug my other barista passed us. He knows when to keep a professional appearance, with the rest of the crew.
“Got it boss, when she comes again, I’ll let you know and slow down her coffee order.” He winked at me grinning. I laughed at him and told him that I’ll be hitting the books in my office.
But that was the one thing that I didn’t do that whole morning, I made my coffee and decided to text her. I couldn’t get myself to call her, I was too fucking nervous.
Damn! why am I being such a high schooler about this?
Amanda, I got your note. Are you insinuating that you will be busy this whole week? that we’ll be seeing each other again next week? – Dale
I waited nervously for her text, but I finally give up hours later and pick Mable up from school. Amanda still hadn’t replied to my text. I even call her minutes before I leave to pick up Mable from school, but I got her voicemail instead.
I guess she’s really busy after all.
