I hate being teased by him, it’s usually heart racing and I loved it. So, I pulled him back in for another kiss which I greedily dominated his lips.
We must have spent the whole night out there together, since it was a maid who woke us up at almost dawn.
Markian
“How could have kept me in the dark? You kept such an important news from me, from your family? Was this the reason why you told me not to answer any of Livy’s calls? Because Sophia is alive and back?” Heather asked confused.
“I wanted to handle things quietly, but it got out of hand. I didn’t want you getting involved in her mind games, so I kept you in the dark. I’m sorry, but I’m afraid Sophia is out for Livy’s life now as a way to get back at me.” I answered exhaustedly.
“But that’s not right Markian. You were angry at Livy for not telling you what was happening, while you were doing the exact same thing.” She ranted on upset.
“Markian… Markian, she’s awake and wants you.” Mrs Luthel called out from the door of Livy’s hospital room.
2hours had gone by, and those words were all I wished to hear. I rushed into the room grateful to God for answering my prayers. I don’t think I’ve prayed as much as I have in the past 72hrs before.
As she slowly turned her head to look at me, I saw those bright hazel brown eyes that sets my heart beat racing. They were starting to tear up, and so were mine.
I moved closer to her side as she stretched her hand towards me, urging me to hold it and I did.
“Markian, I didn’t do it. I didn’t set Sophia’s car on fire, I… I didn’t do it, I promise.” She ranted on.
Who cares about that now? I wish she had even done it for real, then none of these would have happened. But I’ll put an end to this menace, I have to.
“I don’t care about any of that, ok? You don’t have to explain anything, I believe you.” I stated hastily, as I kissed her hand I held.
I don’t want her to waste her breathe thinking about such nonsense, she needs to rest.
“No, you don’t understand. My sister, Sophia… she is my sister. Markian, I have to protect her by any means necessary.” She kept ranting.
Something was wrong, her words were not making sense. She’s saying nonsense right now and I’m getting worried. Could it be that she hurt her head so bad? Maybe we should do an MRI scan immediately.
“Mrs Luthel, Livy isn’t sounding quite herself. We should call the doctors to do an MRI scan on her and check for some kind of head injury…” I suggested, but Judy didn’t move a muscle.
“… Why are you being so quiet? Why aren’t you calling the doctor?” I inquired impatiently.
Here, Livy’s ranting on about God knows what and I can’t get her to stop, but Judy isn’t moving an inches from her position. I’m starting to get confused and scared at the same time.
What if something is really wrong with Livy, since she’s making no sense at all?
“She doesn’t need an MRI Markian. Your wife seems to have remembered everything I have tried for years to make her forget. It seems her memories are back and so is her obsession over Sophia.” Judy finally replied.
But even she is making no sense at all. Obsession?
“What obsession? What the hell are you talking about?” I asked impatiently, but her response was interrupted as I received a call.
“Excuse me…” I requested as I stepped outside to answered the call.
“… hello?” I answered irritatedly.
“Hello, Mr Winfrey. This is officer Dan handling the ongoing search on your property.” The caller replied.
Yes, I remember giving my number to him when he came to the hospital for further questioning.
It’s been 2hrs already and I’ve got no feedback on their search for Sophia.
“I remember. Any news? Have she been found?” I asked impatiently.
“Unfortunately sir, we’ve not been able to find anyone who fits your description within your property. If she is as dangerous as you say, then we might need to fill a case against her so we can incorporate a search party on a larger scale.” The officer replied.
I really don’t care what they do or how they do it, I just want that wench caught by any means necessary. I have to make her pay.
“Do what you must, but I want her found. She is a danger to my life and the lives of my family. The longer she’s out there, the more dangerous things could get.” I stated sternly.
“Of course Sir, we understand.”
“Keep me posted on any development. Thank you for your help” I cooed before ending the call.
I walked back into the room to join Heather and Judy again.
“Livy, you’re not making any sense.” Heather stated frustrated.
“Oh, Markian. Was that the cops? What did they say? Where they able to find her?” Livy pressed to know the whereabout of Sophia.
“Unfortunately no. Sophia is still out there and the longer she is, the more dangerous it gets.” I uttered angrily.
“Markian… Markian! Please, find her. Don’t let them hurt her, I have to protect her” Livy stated panicky.
That’s it. I’ve had it with whatever level of crazy is going on with her.
“Protect her? Protect who?! You should be the one being protected, she tried to kill you. If I hadn’t intervened when I did, you’d be dead by now. She put you in a hospital, not once but twice now. And you still want to protect her? Just you wait and let me get her, I’ll make her pay for all that she’s done to my family- that I assure you Livy.” I said angrily, surprising everyone in the room before storming out.
I can’t understand how things got even more complicated no matter how much I tried to make it work. I was so scared this morning that I became disoriented after what happened.
My mind went back to lots of things. The pain of losing someone I loved- when I almost lost Livy about a month ago.
I tried to look forward to when all this is over and I finally get my happily ever after with my family. But the further I looked, the darker the future becomes. And my fear returned- the fear of losing the person I love.
The force that tried to draw me back into that room was strong. I wanted to march back in there and kiss my wife, hug her and tell her that I’ll keep her from harm’s way from now on.
But with the creeping fear seeping through my mind, and the irritation I now felt from hearing Sophia’s name, going back into that room would be a grave mistake for me. So, I bolted.
