Yolanda Taylor slept until after ten the next day, waking up in a daze to hear Gwen Fox answering the phone.
Probably because he was afraid of waking her up, he suppressed his voice and spoke very softly.
The curtains inside the room were opened a third of the way, and the sunlight hit in from outside, the whole room was translucent.
After she came back from Robin City, until now, she hadn’t slept properly once in almost half a month.
After a good night’s sleep, Yolanda Taylor felt a lot more refreshed.
She was about to get out of bed to wash up when Gwen Fox walked in.
Just as she stepped out of bed, Yolanda Taylor saw Gwen Fox walk in from the outer room.
She remembered the agreement he had made last night and hesitated, but smiled up at him, “You didn’t go to the office?”
“Uh, hungry? The maid cooked congee and also stewed soup, what would you like to eat?”
He came over and lowered his head to kiss her.
Yolanda Taylor stiffened and raised her hand to subconsciously try to push him away, but held back.
Gwen Fox only kissed her sloppily though, and soon he let go, “Go wash up.” “Uh-huh.”
She answered, lifting her leg and walking into the bathroom.
When she came out, a bowl of millet porridge was placed in the outer room, and next to it was a bowl of soup that was steaming hot.
The soup was fragrant, and as she smelled it, she quickly felt hungry.
After a moment’s hesitation, she made her way over to the dresser and did her facial hydration before stepping outside.
Gwen Fox was sitting on the couch in front of that table, and when he saw her come out, he brought up that millet porridge, “Millet porridge is good for the stomach, have some millet porridge first, then a bowl of soup, it’s okay if you eat later.”
Yolanda Taylor was stunned for a moment, she herself, a person whose stomach is not so good, did not know that millet porridge nourishes the stomach.
She sat down beside him and reached out to take the millet porridge he handed over.
This millet porridge was cooked soft and silky, although it was not as flavorful as white porridge, the taste was still quite good.
She ate a bowl of millet porridge, originally some slight pain in the stomach to get soothed, this moment has been ironed out.
When she was drinking the congee, Gwen Fox was at the side to cool the soup for her, Yolanda Taylor had just finished the congee, and the piping hot black chicken soup was warm and cooled down.
Gwen Fox took a spoonful and tasted it before moving it to her eyes, “It’s not hot anymore.”
Yolanda Taylor said thank you and took the spoon in his hand.
Although she wasn’t hungry anymore after eating millet porridge all night, she had just been smelling the flavorful chicken soup and had long been craving it a bit.
The maid that Lewis had found was very good, this chicken soup was not greasy, moderately salty, fragrant in the mouth, with a somewhat sweet and salty aftertaste.
She did not eat a mouthful of chicken, but she felt that she had already eaten meat, and the soup was full of the concentrated flavor of chicken.
Yolanda Taylor couldn’t help but burp as she finished her bowl of soup.
Gwen Fox looked at her and just felt his heart go soft.
He hadn’t thought it was nice to spend time together in such quiet serenity before, but now it felt luxurious.
The sight of the man beside him was so hot that Yolanda Taylor couldn’t help but incline her head to look at him after wiping her mouth, “What’s wrong?”
Hearing her words, Gwen Fox snapped back to her senses, “I’ll walk you to the store after lunch.”
“Uh-huh.”
Yolanda Taylor had originally planned to run away quietly after that wedding in Robin City, but Gwen Fox had arrived in Robin City two days early, plus she was so affected by what that person said that she ended up not accomplishing anything, and after she came back and had been concentrating on her work, she was actually busy with what she had on her hands.
Long before she was ready to run for the hills two months ago, she had consciously cut back on taking orders for personal subscriptions.
She’d finished designing all her orders before Robin City Gwen Fox arrived, so all in all, she wouldn’t have been so busy if she hadn’t been trying to avoid Gwen Fox.
Yolanda Taylor got up late and had a late breakfast.
But a bowl of millet porridge and a bowl of chicken soup couldn’t top it for long, and Yolanda Taylor felt hungry before twelve o’clock.
The maid was still the same as before, except that from now on the maid would have to stay and take care of all kinds of evening snacks and afternoon tea in addition to the three meals a day.
There were two rooms on the first floor, and the maid lived on the first floor. In fact, whether she stayed or not, it didn’t have any effect on Yolanda Taylor and Gwen Fox, except that the problem of eating was really much more convenient, and she didn’t have to think about what to eat every day.
Now this problem, let the maid think about it.
There were a lot of dishes today, several regional dishes coming together for lunch.
Five dishes and one soup, the portions were smaller than before, but there were more dishes.
Yolanda Taylor hadn’t eaten this much in a long time, and was a little bolstered by the meal.
The midday sun was beating down, but the row of French sycamores planted on the left side of the courtyard outside the villa were growing tall and strong, blocking much of the sunlight.
The wind had been a little harsh in late October, but it was much warmer at midday.
Yolanda Taylor walked downstairs by herself to eat, she hadn’t wandered around the garden much, and it was only then that she saw the iris planted all around the edge.
But it is no longer in bloom, and it is early fall in Borden City, so there are no more flowers to see.
The villa walls are covered with roses, which were still in bloom in September, but have now begun to fade.
She used to say she wanted a garden with roses and lavender on the outside walls, a row of French sycamores on the inside, irises on the other side of the path, and a swing set under the sycamores.
I think she’d told Gwen Fox that when she was younger.
Just he did not even a word back to her at that time, she is also accustomed to his indifference, hear did not hear seems to be unimportant, so that later, she also put their own like into do not care.
Just like this garden full of their own longing for the mold, it seems, and not so glad.
Yolanda Taylor was so lost in thought that she didn’t even realize when Gwen Fox walked down.
Until he spoke, “They’re not in bloom now, and they’ll look great in the spring.”
She was stunned for a moment and looked at him with a tilt of her head, “You remembered.”
She said this in a soft voice, as if she was asking him, and as if she wasn’t.
Gwen Fox’s heart seemed to be pulled by something, and he looked down at her hand at her side and answered, “Uh-huh.”
Yolanda Taylor didn’t say anything else, she’d been out walking for a while and didn’t feel so braced at this point, “You want to take a nap?”
“You want to go to the store?”
Yolanda Taylor nodded and didn’t hide it from him, “Well, it’s after one.”
“Then go back and change, I’ll walk you there.”
“Okay.”
She smiled faintly, probably thinking that he was finally willing to let go of her, so she was coloring much better towards him.
Gwen Fox looked at the smile on her face and led her inside the villa.
The two of them changed into a set of clothes and Gwen Fox dropped her off inside the store before driving to the office.
Before he left, he said he would come by to pick her up around six in the evening.
Yolanda Taylor remembered his words from last night and nodded, “I know.” Before leaving, Gwen Fox glanced at her as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he said nothing.
Yolanda Taylor looked at his back and thought about his words last night.
It was a little hard, but three months had passed quickly, and thinking about it that way, it didn’t seem to feel so hard anymore.
