Chapter 196: I’ll carry you up here

Book:Welcome To My Life Published:2024-6-3

Yolanda Taylor hadn’t slept well last night, and she’d accompanied him to the hospital this evening.
It was particularly quiet inside the hospital’s IV room at night, with the occasional person talking, but it was all said in a muffled voice.
Yolanda Taylor sat there, gradually drifting off to sleep.
She had one hand caught in Gwen Fox’s, the other holding his medication and cell phone.
“Come up to bed?”
Just as she was about to fall asleep, all of a sudden she heard Gwen Fox speak.
She opened her eyes and the bright light stung for a moment, Yolanda Taylor squinted and looked up at his IV, “No.”
With those words, Lewis came in carrying food.
Gwen Fox had diarrhea several times before he came to the hospital, he was almost dehydrated, his stomach was empty at the moment, even though he was on glucose he didn’t feel hungry, it’s always a long night, and when he went back later, he was bound to be hungry.
Lewis has been Gwen Fox’s secretary for so many years, and has always been considerate, so after sending Gwen Fox to the IV room, he asked Yolanda Taylor to keep an eye on her, and went out to buy congee for himself.
Seeing Lewis coming over, Yolanda Taylor drew her hand back.
“Ma’am, please, I’ll wait outside.”
Lewis was very sensible, knowing that Gwen Fox wanted to be alone with Yolanda Taylor, he turned around and walked out after putting down the porridge in his hand.
Yolanda Taylor unzipped the bag and found quite a lot of food, thought Lewis didn’t just buy it for Gwen Fox to eat, he also bought it for her.
She wasn’t in the habit of late night snacking and wasn’t hungry at this time of day.
Yolanda Taylor glanced at Gwen Fox: ”What kind of congee do you want to eat? There’s millet congee and shredded chicken congee here.”
“Shredded chicken congee.” Gwen Fox was a gentlemanly looking man, but he had a heavy taste and was meatless.
Yolanda Taylor removed the lid and handed him the shredded chicken congee, but he didn’t take it.
She raised an eyebrow, “I thought you wanted shredded chicken porridge?”
He looked down at his pinned hand, “I can’t eat with one hand.”
Yolanda Taylor glanced at the back of her hand with the stitches and didn’t say anything else, scooping up the congee and feeding it to him one bite at a time.
“Is there any more?”
Gwen Fox ate fast, but in five minutes that porridge was gone.
Yolanda Taylor nodded once and demolished another bowl for him.
Both bowls of porridge were finished before he shook his head, “You eat some too.”
“I’m not hungry.”
She packed up the boxes and carried them to the trash can outside.
When she came back, Gwen Fox’s first IV was almost gone, and Yolanda Taylor rang for him.
There were fewer nurses on duty at night, so the nurse who usually rang the bell and came right away waited a few minutes.
When the nurse walked in, Gwen Fox’s IV was completely gone, and Yolanda Taylor turned it off to keep the blood from flowing back.
The small vial was finished, and there was still a vial of the big one.
Yolanda Taylor was sleepy and yawned several times in a row.
“Come on up.”
Gwen Fox moved inside and reached for her.
She didn’t move, “I’m not sleeping, so you can squint by yourself for a while.”
“I’ll carry you up.”
That’s how he was over these things, he said if he didn’t listen he’d just do it.
Yolanda Taylor was afraid that he would really reach out to hug himself, and when that needle came out, she would still have to trouble the nurse to come over and help him tie it once.
She raised her hand and pushed his hand away, “I’ll sit up by myself.”
Gwen Fox moved a little further and Yolanda Taylor sat up sideways.
Just as she sat down, he reached around her from behind.
Just because there were fewer people in the IV room late at night didn’t mean there wasn’t anyone there, just not as many as usual.
Yolanda Taylor also didn’t dare to speak up for fear of disturbing people, and with him wrapping his arms around her like this, she could only look back at him, “You let go!”
He didn’t let go, “You sleep against my shoulder for a while.”
“Gwen Fox!”
She whimpered at him, but he just reached down and held her head down and let her lean against her shoulder.
The bed was already small, and Yolanda Taylor didn’t dare move around for fear that the two of them would accidentally fall off the bed, which would be a big joke.
She gritted her teeth and had to endure it.
At this time already ten forty-five, Yolanda Taylor usually this time also almost sleep.
She hadn’t slept well last night, and she was a bit sleepy during the day today, not to mention now.
Inside the hospital room, the heater was turned on and it was very warm, so she leaned on Gwen Fox’s shoulder and quickly fell asleep.
Gwen Fox also distinctly felt his shoulders sink a bit, and looked down to see that Yolanda Taylor was already fully asleep.
He was about to reach out and pull on the comforter sitting at the end of the bed, but when he saw how old and tattered the comforter was, he stopped his hand and moved it slightly to take Yolanda Taylor fully into his arms.
She hadn’t let him hold her like that in a long time, and since that day back from the spa house, she’d even gone straight cold turkey with him.
Yolanda Taylor had never been in a cold war with him before, and she had never been angry, most of the time he was angry and she coaxed him.
Now she was angry, but not like other women, making a fuss, at least so, he was able to coax a little.
Just like that Beth Garcia, every time with Jerome Perot quarrel with the sky hate to lift down, before he looked coldly, only think Beth Garcia is really unreasonable, temper is also big, also do not know Jerome Perot is how to stand him.
But now he thought, actually that was quite good, at least it gave him a chance to coax people.
Yolanda Taylor angry time is not like this, she does not fight not grab also do not say, is not to pick up his phone also do not take care of him, she herself unilaterally will be him as transparent, no matter what he said what to do in her eyes seem to not see the same.
It was not easy for her to agree to have dinner with him today, but she did not want to end up in the hospital.
But this is good, otherwise back to the villa she ignored him again, he also do not know how to coax her.
Thinking of this, Gwen Fox couldn’t help but lower his head and kiss Yolanda Taylor in his arms.
She slept well, and she didn’t wake up even after he moved several times.
At eleven thirty, Gwen Fox finished the last bottle of IV.
Yolanda Taylor wasn’t awake yet, so he rang the bell himself, and when the nurse came over, he raised his hand to his lips in a silent gesture.
The nurse glanced at Yolanda Taylor in his arms and was stunned for a moment, suddenly feeling a little sad.
Even if you’re on the night shift, you have to eat dog food.
The nurse pulled the needle out of Gwen Fox, Gwen Fox held it down for a while, and when there was no more bleeding from the needle, he carefully picked up Yolanda Taylor in his arms.
When he got up, Yolanda Taylor grunted, and he thought she was waking up and stood by the hospital bed without moving.
But after a few seconds of waiting, Yolanda Taylor frowned just a little and then went back to sleep.
Relieved, he carried her outside.
Just outside the hospital entrance, Gwen Fox saw Lewis.
Lewis, who had been waiting in front of the hospital, saw someone as well, and he subconsciously tried to open his mouth to call out to him, but was stopped by a look from Gwen Fox.
He swallowed his words and walked to Gwen Fox’s side with his umbrella to support them as they walked to the car.
Lewis opened the door and Gwen Fox leaned over to put Yolanda Taylor inside, and that’s when he got in.
The car drove slowly and Yolanda Taylor grunted as Gwen Fox reached down and held her close, “Sleep.”
She seemed to ask and didn’t seem to say anything, but in the end, she didn’t wake up.
