Joel Smith got into the car and restarted it, driving for two seconds before he inclined his head to look inside the rearview mirror at Yolanda Taylor, who was still standing there, her face seeming to whiten a bit in the overcast sky.
The car drove farther and farther away, and Yolanda Taylor inside the rearview mirror gradually disappeared.
This matter is actually also he heard people talk about it a while ago to know, that year Milton Beale in that night after not long after the accident, some people think it is Martin Anderson did, some people suspect that it is Gwen Fox, but in the end who is no evidence to prove.
Until a few days ago, a few of his playmates leaked out, said that this thing is Gwen Fox’s people to do, Lewis to the bar to find someone, he happened to be drunk, was going to go to the restroom to vomit, the result of accidentally ran to the wrong place, and then heard.
But about the Gwen Fox thing, his playmate did not dare to say more, if not before Yolanda Taylor and Primo Jones two people of that engagement party, and more than half a month ago that auction, his playmate did not dare to say more.
He told Yolanda Taylor actually did not have any good intentions, he was taught so hard by Gwen Fox that year, although now people are mature, but he is more or less hold a grudge.
But he can’t afford to mess with either Gwen Fox or Primo Jones. Yolanda Taylor is destined to be unobtainable, but he doesn’t want to see them get it too easily.
Yolanda Taylor and Gwen Fox in the end what happened between the two people, no one is completely clear, he will say, but also is expected to Yolanda Taylor on Gwen Fox more or less still some feelings.
When the matter of the bystanders see Gwen Fox is very desperate, but above the pressure of a Lamar Fox, in fact, it is not quite true.
He told Yolanda Taylor this thing, whether it is useful or not, he does not know, anyway, more or less in her bottom of the heart can set off ripples.
That would give Gwen Fox and Primo Jones both room to pull their punches again.
Hey, he was a good guy when you think about it, actually going out of his way to help Gwen Fox!
Joel Smith laughed a little, withdrew his thoughts completely, and drove to the blind date location.
Yolanda Taylor stood there for a few seconds until the driver called out to her, and she snapped back to her senses, withdrawing her eyes and getting into the car.
CoCo in the backseat of the car looked at her cautiously, “boss Yolanda, did that guy just scold you?”
Hearing CoCo’s words, Yolanda Taylor smiled, “No, it’s someone I used to know.”
“boss Yolanda is awesome, knowing so many people!”
If this were to come from someone else’s mouth, Yolanda Taylor would have to wonder if she was being sarcastic, but coming from CoCo’s mouth, she knew she was simply being emotional.
She smiled a little and looked at the driver, “Drive.”
Go back early, rest early, it’s already after eleven o’clock.
Because of such a small accident, it was already after twelve when the group of people returned to the store, Yolanda Taylor had a casual lunch with them and went back to rest.
After two consecutive nights of no sleep, Yolanda Taylor went back to her apartment and fell asleep.
But she didn’t sleep very well, probably because of Joel Smith’s last words, she actually dreamed about that night.
It really wasn’t a good memory, and if she could, Yolanda Taylor hoped that she would never think about it again in her life, but it wasn’t to be.
A few soft words from Joel Smith and she was reminded of that year and the cold, unfeeling look in Gwen Fox’s eyes.
It was dark outside when Yolanda Taylor woke up.
Fall comes faster in Borden City than it does in Oman City, and even though it’s only October, it’s already getting cooler.
She had been so sleepy when she got back at lunchtime today that she had fallen asleep with just the window open, the curtains not fully gathered aside and now whistling in the wind outside.
She sat on the bed and watched, people a little trance.
Yolanda Taylor came back to her senses when her cell phone rang.
Retrieving her thoughts, she raised her hand to touch the cell phone on the side, looked at the caller ID, saw that it was Primo Jones, and hurriedly pressed answer, “It’s me, Yolanda.”
“Just waking up?”
“Uh-huh.”
She had just woken up, her throat was a little dry and her voice was a little hoarse when she opened her mouth.
“I heard from your staff that you rear-ended the car on your way back today, are you okay?”
“It’s fine, you’re inside my store now?”
“I was going to pick you up for dinner, but you seemed tired so I simply packed up and came over, open the door.”
Hearing the latter, Yolanda Taylor was stunned for a moment, reacting, she couldn’t help but smile a little, hanging up the phone and getting out of bed to go downstairs to open the door.
Just pulling open the door, Yolanda Taylor saw Primo Jones standing in the doorway with a big bag.
She quickly stepped back, “Why did you bring so much stuff?”
“Food, and some snacks.”
Yolanda Taylor was embarrassed, “I don’t really eat snacks.”
“I eat.”
He said, putting the bag on the dining room table.
“I’m going to go wash my face!”
She had just woken up from a nap and wasn’t very awake yet.
Primo Jones grunted and didn’t look at her, and was taking the packed boxed lunch out.
Yolanda Taylor washed her face, the face inside the mirror was a little haggard, not seventeen or eighteen years old, twenty-seven or eighteen continuously staying up for two all-nighters, she really couldn’t afford it.
After wiping her face, she went out from the restroom.
Primo Jones had already set up the meal, hearing the sound of the door opening, he looked up at her, “I heard that you rear-ended a limousine today, someone you know, why, rear-ended whose car?”
Yolanda Taylor answered him as she tied her hair, “Joel Smith.”
“Gee, I don’t know whether to say you’re lucky or unlucky.”
Joel Smith was a man that those who knew him inside the circle knew he was mixed up.
Yolanda Taylor laughed a little, “He didn’t give me a hard time today though.”
Not only did he not give her a hard time, but he was even kind enough to tell her something that would haunt her.
Hearing her words, Primo Jones inclined his head to look at her, “Really?”
“Really.”
She paused, thought for a moment, then added, “I think he might be afraid of you.”
“Not really.”
He handed him his lunch box, “Last year he raced someone and got into a car accident, and spent most of the year inside the hospital before he got out. Now they say Joel Smith seems like a different person, I didn’t believe them, but after hearing you say that, it’s probably a hell of a ride, and he’s a lot more lucid.”
Yolanda Taylor raised an eyebrow, took the chopsticks, said thank you, and added, “So he’s not a jerk now?”
“That’s what his friend said, I don’t know him well enough to have much of a friendship.”
“Oh.”
She responded, looking down and starting to eat.
She hadn’t eaten much at lunch, and now she was really hungry.
Yolanda Taylor took a sip of her soup, “Why did you come over all of a sudden?”
“Yolanda, tomorrow is the anniversary of her death.”
Yolanda Taylor was stunned for a moment and understood why Primo Jones suddenly came over to find herself today.
She pursed her lips for a second, “Do you want me to go with you to see her tomorrow?”
He shook his head, took a cigarette out, but didn’t light it, “No need, I can’t see anyone alive or dead, I didn’t even set up a tombstone for her.”
Said, his hand holding the cigarette moved slightly, “Mind if I have a cigarette?”
She shook her head, “Don’t mind.”
Actually minded, but she also knew Primo Jones had a hard time.
Primo Jones gave her a look and got up and walked over to the window there before looking down and lighting his cigarette.
