Chapter 98 So what?

Book:Welcome To My Life Published:2024-6-3

Yolanda Taylor didn’t open the door; she knew exactly what Gwen Fox had come to see her about at this hour.
She didn’t have to open the door either.
Once upon a time when she’d been with Gwen Fox, he’d been condescending most of the time, so to hear him threaten her with disturbing the neighbors was nothing but laughable to Yolanda Taylor.
When had Gwen Fox fallen to such underhanded tactics? The door opened and Gwen Fox was pinching her eyes.
Yolanda Taylor stood in the middle of the doorway with no intention of letting him in, “What are you doing here?”
Her face is clear and her tone is cool, just as he was to her.
Gwen Fox’s hand holding the cigarette trembled slightly, like an abyss of black eyes staring straight at Yolanda Taylor: “Why?”
“No reason, what you don’t want, of course you have to throw away. But if that necklace can be sold for money to help people, then why don’t I donate some?”
She said it very lightly, without anger or mourning, as if it was really useless old stuff, donate it, there was nothing to be sorry about.
But not to Gwen Fox, who moved to raise his hand to touch her, but dropped it after touching her eyes.
“I had someone go to the dump for over four hours to retrieve it in the first place.”
He said, pausing for a moment, and just when Yolanda Taylor thought he was going to do something, he suddenly smiled, “That’s okay, I’ll get it back tomorrow night, it’s yours, it’ll always be yours.”
Gwen Fox laughed softly, as indulgent and unnecessary as when she used to put her cold hands on his neck in the winter.
But Yolanda Taylor hated it when he looked like that, “Suit yourself, I’m going to rest, so don’t bother me or my neighbors.”
With that, she took a step back and raised her hand to close the door behind her.
Gwen Fox in the doorway suddenly asked her, “Do you know why my parents were in trouble back then?”
Yolanda Taylor’s hand gave a slight lurch, but it was only for a second, and after that second had passed, she raised her hand and closed that door behind her.
But she didn’t leave, being leaned behind that door panel, raising her hand to cover her eyes.
Outside the door Gwen Fox looked at that closed door and smiled coolly, “They were in trouble trying to get back in time for my birthday.”
In the stillness of the night, a little bit of his voice traveled through the door and inside Yolanda Taylor’s ears.
Her heart fluttered, but in the end, she turned away ruthlessly.
So what?
Did her mom deserve to pay for her family’s life?
Probably because Gwen Fox had come to her out of the blue, Yolanda Taylor had slept poorly all night.
She had a lot of mixed dreams, some of which were things that happened during the three years she was with Gwen Fox, some of which were more recent, and some of which were just plain dreams, so mixed up that she couldn’t even tell which ones were real and which ones weren’t.
The cell phone on her bedside rang so loudly that Yolanda Taylor woke up with a start, looking at the vibrating cell phone beside her, half reacting to it as she reached for it, “Hello, it’s me, Yolanda Taylor.”
“What’s wrong, the voice doesn’t sound very good.”
The call was from Primo Jones, Yolanda Taylor looked at the time before remembering that she had to accompany Primo Jones to a place today.
“Just woke up, are you downstairs yet? Wait for me for a while.”
“No rush, take your time coming down.”
That’s what she said, but Yolanda Taylor didn’t like to be kept waiting.
Hanging up the phone, Yolanda Taylor quickly washed up and went straight downstairs without makeup.
She had just walked out of her apartment when she saw Primo Jones’ car, figuring that he would have arrived when she first woke up.
Yolanda Taylor was a little embarrassed and rushed over to get into the car, “Sorry for the late start.”
“Breakfast first.”
Primo Jones said, handing her a glass of warm milk and a sandwich, Yolanda Taylor smiled, “You’re more thoughtful than I am.”
He sat in the car and inclined his head at her, raising an eyebrow slightly, “Gwen Fox came to see you last night?”
Yolanda Taylor’s hand paused slightly and glanced at him, “How did you know?”
Primo Jones took his cell phone aside and handed it to her, “A reporter caught it.”
She took a bite of her sandwich and glanced at the picture on top of her phone before handing it back to Primo Jones, “He said he was going to film the mermaid tears for me tonight.”
“Why don’t I go grab it?”
Hearing his words, Yolanda Taylor couldn’t help but shake her head, “No need to bother with that, he can do whatever he likes.”
It was after breakfast that Primo Jones drove.
The wind in September was not cold, Yolanda Taylor opened the window and inclined her head to look out of the car window, feeling that the city was familiar and strange.
The two soon arrived at the home for the elderly, Primo Jones got out of the car and took the things inside the trunk, Yolanda Taylor went up to help, he directly refused, but also empty a hand out: “To hold hands?”
Yolanda Taylor pursed her lips and put her hand out.
The two had just gone inside when the director of the home came out.
Primo Jones put down what he was holding and led her inside.
Yolanda Taylor is not the first time to come, old lady Helena also recognized her, saw her and Primo Jones two people holding hands to come in, smiled so much that even the dentures fell out: “Nobia, quickly come to give grandma a look!”
Yolanda Taylor obediently walked up, Primo Jones loosened his hand and stood aside to watch the two of them.
The old lady Helena pulled Yolanda Taylor to talk about the things that happened when she was a child, she was not the real “Nobia”, so she could only listen quietly.
Later on, old lady Helena suddenly touched her head, “Nobia has really grown up, now she is more and more quiet.”
Yolanda Taylor’s heart jumped, Primo Jones on the side walked up, “Grandma, Nobia is already twenty-eight this year, it’s time to grow up.”
“Right oh, twenty-eight, not eighteen! You and Primo, why don’t you hurry up and have a baby!”
Yolanda Taylor laughed a little, “Grandma, children depend on fate!”
“Yes, it depends on fate! Nobia, you’re too skinny, you need to eat more, do you know that?”
old lady Helena kept pulling Yolanda Taylor’s hand to talk, Primo Jones came to a call in the middle of the day, he gave her a gesture and went out to answer the phone.
old lady Helena had just been sick the day before and wasn’t in the best of spirits today, but she was happy to see both Yolanda Taylor and Primo Jones.
The nurse reminded her to take her medicine, but she was grumpy and didn’t take it, so Yolanda Taylor coaxed her carefully.
The cold medicine is a little sleeping, old lady Helena’s spirit is not good after taking the medicine.
When Yolanda Taylor saw that she was holding on to her conversation, she had to find an excuse that she was busy with her work and coaxed her to take a rest.
When she walked out from the building, she just saw Primo Jones who was smoking under the acacia tree.
Seeing her approach, Primo Jones stubbed out his cigarette, “Grandma asleep?”
“Uh-huh.”
Yolanda Taylor nodded, “Smoke less, it’s not good for your health.”
Primo Jones looked at her and raised an eyebrow, smiling a little lightly, “Still holding hands?”
Yolanda Taylor laughed a little and put her hand out, but he dodged it, “Nice try.”
After saying that, he walked over to a trash can and threw his cigarette, “Go back, I’ll pick you up tonight.”
“Good.”
The two had just returned to the city from the old age home, when the photos of Yolanda Taylor and Primo Jones who were in love and traveling to visit the elderly came out.
Yolanda Taylor clicked on the photo sent by Primo Jones and saw that it was the two of them getting out of the car and holding hands as they walked into the old people’s home, she smiled faintly and exited the dialog box.
