After that day, Yolanda Taylor rarely went back to the hospital.
Because the Fox family had already sent someone to guard the hospital, Gwen Fox had called her a few times, but she found excuses to put it off.
Yolanda Taylor had already made up her mind, she didn’t want to give Gwen Fox any hope, so at such a critical moment, she wouldn’t allow herself to have any weakness.
After Christmas, Yolanda Taylor was busy again.
With seven weddings to set up, Yolanda Taylor spent the entire month of February in hotels.
The day before Gwen Fox left, he called her and said he wanted to see her.
It was after 11 p. m., and Yolanda Taylor had just gotten out of the shower and was actually ready for bed, but he said he was downstairs at her house.
After hanging up the phone, Yolanda Taylor looked outside and sat on the bed for a short while, but finally, she put on her clothes and went down.
Just as she stepped inside the doorstop, Yolanda Taylor saw Gwen Fox.
More than a month had passed, and he was pretty much recovered.
It was a harsh night wind in Oman City this March, and Yolanda Taylor subconsciously wrapped her jacket around her, “It’s late, Gwen Fox.”
“I know.”
He looked down at her, and all of a sudden took a box out from inside his pocket, “I’m going back to Borden City tomorrow, and I want to see you before I go.”
With that, he paused, “I’m sorry for causing so much trouble in your life, I hope you’ll take it.”
Yolanda Taylor didn’t move as she looked at him, “I wish you well.”
“I’m not leaving tonight until you take it.”
He was so stubborn it was a headache, Yolanda Taylor had to take the box.
“You go back, it’s late, you’ve only been out of the hospital a short time, don’t spoil yourself like that.”
Gwen Fox nodded and suddenly opened her hand, “Can I give you a hug?”
When he said this, he looked at the depths of his eyes, and the sound of his opening voice was pressed extremely hard, making it only inexplicably hard to hear.
Yolanda Taylor pursed her lips for a moment, and the two of them stood still for a moment before she finally reached out and hugged him, “Gwen Fox, I hope-” She hadn’t even finished her sentence when she was clasped into his arms with a firm and tight grip.
Yolanda Taylor was a little out of breath from his embrace, wanting to lift her hand to push him away, but afraid of accidentally pushing against his broken ribs.
In the end, she could only let him hold her like this.
“Dear.”
He buried his head inside her shoulder and suddenly called out to him with deep emotion.
Yolanda Taylor heard his voice and only felt as if her heart was clogged with something.
She raised her hand and patted his shoulder, “Go back.”
This was no place for him to be.
He didn’t say anything, and it took half a second for Gwen Fox to let go of her, “You go up there, and I’ll watch you go up there.”
Yolanda Taylor knew he wouldn’t leave until she did.
Before she left, she gave him a deep look, “Gwen Fox, goodbye.”
With that goodbye, she figured they would never see each other again.
He didn’t say anything, he just looked at her.
Yolanda Taylor let go of her hand and the door closed with a clunk, separating him from view.
The elevator doors dinged and then slowly closed.
Gwen Fox felt a cigarette in her pocket and lit it, feeling cold from the night wind against her face.
Yolanda Taylor’s goodbye was probably because she thought they’d never see each other again.
Getting back into bed, Yolanda Taylor turned on the overhead nightlight and opened the jewelry box to find a necklace with a pendant in the form of a tear-shaped blue gemstone.
She looked at the necklace, a little lost in thought.
That night, Yolanda Taylor had dreams she had never had before.
When she awoke with a start, it was light outside, and she looked down at the clock to see that it was nine-thirty.
Gwen Fox’s ten-forty-five flight.
She sat in bed for a moment before getting up and going to wash up.
As she was eating breakfast, her cell phone vibrated out of nowhere.
She took the phone aside and saw a message inside from an unknown number that contained only three words, I love you.
Her fingers trembled slightly, and for half a second, she found the delete button and tried to delete the text message, but her fingers could never press it.
Finally, Yolanda Taylor gritted her teeth and deleted the text message with her eyes closed.
Just after deleting the text, Dika Rothstein’s call came through.
“Hmm?”
“Dinner tonight?”
She flipped through her itinerary, “I’m afraid that’s not possible, there are quite a few weddings this month.”
Dika Rothstein on the other end of the line sighed, “Didn’t realize you’d become such a busy person.”
She was a little embarrassed, “I’ll buy you dinner later.”
“Okay.”
After Gwen Fox left, Yolanda Taylor’s life returned to peace.
For a few days after he left, Yolanda Taylor dreamed for a few more days, but not after that.
There were so many marriages in the first six months of the year that Yolanda Taylor could hardly rest until May, when she did.
After she was idle, however, it was Dika Rothstein’s turn to get busy.
In the middle of May, something big happened in Borden City; Lamar Fox was hospitalized with a serious illness, and the Fox family was in disarray.
Yolanda Taylor didn’t really pay attention to Borden City, but she knew about it because of a client she had last week, who she heard was related to the Fox family.
When Yolanda Taylor was setting up the place, the other party came to inspect it, and the bride’s parents were talking about it, so she listened and realized that Lamar Fox was seriously ill.
She remembered that night on the third day of the year when Lamar Fox sat across from her and didn’t look sick at all.
No wonder Gwen Fox went back to Borden City with Lamar Fox, she had thought it would take some more time, but she didn’t expect him to go back to Borden City with Lamar Fox not long after he was discharged from the hospital.
“Sister Yolanda, what’s wrong with you?”
Hearing Taryn call herself, Yolanda Taylor froze, “Nothing, just thinking about something, what’s wrong?”
“There’s an order online, it’s from Borden City.”
Dika Rothstein had told her that the order from Borden City’s side should be kept out of Yolanda Taylor’s sight as much as possible.
But this time the other party’s money offer was very tempting, Taryn couldn’t help but be a little hesitant, so she planned to ask Yolanda Taylor.
Yolanda Taylor heard her words and raised her eyebrows, “I’ll see.”
The other party made a generous offer, no wonder Taryn was tempted.
Yolanda Taylor actually didn’t really want to take it, Gwen Fox was in Borden City, her life had been slowly getting back to normal these days, she didn’t want any other surprises to cross her mind.
But looking at the money, she couldn’t help but hesitate.
“Sister Yolanda, it’s actually okay, why don’t we just not take it?”
Yolanda Taylor looked up at her, “Three million dollars, we’re afraid that it would be hard to meet such a client.”
Their reputation had only been made in the past two years, and those who could spare more than a million dollars to set up a wedding were rich people, in addition to celebrities.
Celebrities they didn’t have the resources for that, and rich people taking three million out for a wedding was not something any rich person could afford.
“But this is in Borden City…”
Yolanda Taylor waved her hand, “You let me think about it again.”
