Chapter 1: How much do you want?

Book:Welcome To My Life Published:2024-6-3

Yolanda Taylor stood in the middle of the crowded plaza, looking at the huge LCD screen, a man and a woman. They just look a perfect match with each other.
If the man was not Gwen Fox, she would be like the two girls next to her, although envious, but also sincere blessings.
But that man was Gwen Fox, the man she had been with for three years.
Borden City in the middle of November was undoubtedly cold, but even colder, Yolanda Taylor felt, not as cold as her heart.
The cell phone inside her bag suddenly rang, Yolanda Taylor froze for a moment and took it out only to realize that it was Gwen Fox’s call.
She didn’t answer the phone right away, she didn’t press the answer button until the ringing was at its end, “What’s up?”
“Meet me tonight.”
“Good.”
Hanging up the phone, Yolanda Taylor looked up at the big screen again; Gwen Fox was no longer in the shot.
She glanced down at the call that had ended, and for a moment, Yolanda Taylor didn’t know whether to be happy or sad.
After all, he had managed to call her in his busy schedule.
Putting her cell phone away, Yolanda Taylor took a cab directly to the apartment.
Opening the door, unsurprisingly, it was pitch black inside.
She turned on the lights, went into the kitchen and poured a cup of hot water, then sat on the couch and waited for Gwen Fox to arrive.
At 10:22 p. m., the door to the closed room was pushed open.
Yolanda Taylor looked up and saw Gwen Fox, who hadn’t changed out of her engagement dress yet, she smiled a little and lifted her leg to walk over, “Coming?”
Gwen Fox looked at her, her cold brows frowning for a rare moment, “Uh-huh.”
After faintly answering, he directly walked over to her side and attached himself to pick up her water cup and tilted his head to drink the water.
“Icy-”
Yolanda Taylor had just finished speaking when he had already put down the cup of water, “Have you showered?”
The two had been together for three years, and when he asked that, Yolanda Taylor naturally knew what he meant.
“No.”
“Go take a shower.”
Gwen Fox lifted her hand and slapped her before pulling off his own tie and folding himself up to sit on the couch beside her.
Yolanda Taylor looked at him for a moment, then finally turned without saying anything and went into the bathroom.
Gwen Fox came in halfway through her shower, and when Yolanda Taylor subconsciously tugged at the towel on the storage rack above her head to wrap herself in it, he was already one step ahead of her, reaching down to take it away and throw it on the floor.
The next second, he wrapped his arms around her and dipped his head down to start kissing her.
Gwen Fox kissed her a little too hard, and Yolanda Taylor grunted in pain before he released her.
The strong smell of alcohol leapt up all over her lip cavity and Yolanda Taylor couldn’t help but frown a little, “You’ve been drinking?”
“Uh, no?”
He said, already stripping himself naked and turning her around, pressing his entire body against her back.
Yolanda Taylor grunted, the sound of water mingling with the ragged breathing of both men as Gwen Fox pulled her over and over like crazy this night.
It was light outside when she woke up.
Smelling smoke, Yolanda Taylor’s nose shrugged, and just as she was about to open her mouth to ask him why he was suddenly smoking inside the house, Gwen Fox spoke up first, “See that on the news?”
She froze for a moment, not expecting him to be so direct, but soon enough, Yolanda Taylor responded, “Saw it.”
“Name a number, how much do you want?” He took a sip of his cigarette, his thin lips puffing slightly with smoke, there was something indefinably sexy about Gwen Fox at this time.
Yolanda Taylor looked at him for a moment before opening her own right hand and raising it, “Five-”
“Five million?”
He snorted and smiled when he stood up and looked at her, “How dare you.”
Saying that, he had already written the check and threw it at her, “You’re a smart person, you should know what to do in the future.”
The word “million” was still stuck in her mouth, but Gwen Fox’s words pierced her like a knife.
Yolanda Taylor wanted to explain, but at this point, she didn’t want to say anything, reaching for the check and looking at him with a small smile as well, “Don’t worry, I’m very sensible.”
He gave her one last look, his dark eyes taboo, a look she had never read before.
Gwen Fox threw down a check for five million to her and left, the smell of smoke still lingering inside the empty room.
Yolanda Taylor looked at the check in her hand and suddenly remembered what Gwen Fox said when he first found her a long time ago: “Are you interested in being my lover?”
She thought he was joking at the time, she had been with him for three years, and she had been the only one by his side, he had taken her to meet all his playmate friends, and everyone had said that they were a good match, and in the end she had believed that they would get married.
But now she realizes that what he said about lovers is really lovers.
Take the money and leave it at that, and don’t owe each other a thing.
