Ben sauntered in the forest alone, not quite knowing where he’s heading to. He walked past different fruits tree, passed monkeys playing on the oaks trees. He glanced up and the sky looked gloomy, the clouds were bathed with water, and about to born rain, chasing the sun away.
The tree danced to the tune of the windstorms, some fell, and some stood still, but still waiving here and there. Leaves dropped and swirled and trees moaned that it lost a lot of children.
“It’s about to rain,” he said, “I don’t know where am going to anyway. And I don’t need to care.”
He keeps sauntering, and the winds rush to him and darted dust into his eyes, and then darted his Irish hair back, but he didn’t care, he kept sauntering, sauntering alone.
He kicked the small stone before him. “Gosh, they are all blind. They don’t understand why I acted like that. I was so lucky to see the shooter on the tree, but they are just blind. He hears everything we say. They just don’t understand why I say those harsh words. They should have followed me when I said we should go back home. She is just accusing me of everything. Gosh, What should I do now? I need to do something before he killed all of them. I don’t think he will kill them. If he wants to kill, he might have shot all of us. But what does he want? Maybe he is searching for Henry too. Oh God, what should I do.”
He kept silent for a while, listening. The rustling steps were heads. The birds flew away from their net, and the monkey was jumping off from one tree to the other, in haste. A sound came nearer, he stood still, listening, he then hears the rustling of legs.
“What could that be,” he said, climbing a big tree beside him and then kept quiet, watching down silently.
Not long after, the steps came nearer and the son of Santiago darted there, and stood still for a moment, tracing the footsteps of Ben. He gets to the tree, and noticed that Ben’s footsteps stopped by the tree, he then raised his eyes, gazing at the tree, maybe he might see him there. Everywhere was black and dim, he can’t see much, and then amid the moment, his phone rings.
“Hey. In the forest. Benjamin saw me. Yes. He flees. I need to kill him before he gets to Reuben. Yes, he is alive. Roderigo has killed my father, I need revenge. Ben must be down first. Okay okay. Bye.”
Ben remained still, hiding behind leaves, he could hear his heart pondering hard, wondering how he knows his name. He pepped behind the leaves, to see if he had removed his mask.
The son of Santiago took his pistol out, targeting something, pulling the trigger, and then let out a fire. The monkey screamed, and the rest flee.
He thought he shoot Ben head, he looked down in disappointment, blaming himself for wasting two bullets. Then he heard footsteps, he quickly pulled the trigger again, waiting for the person to show up behind the trees. A boy walked there, holding two baskets that are full of apples, singing. He thought he was Ben, he targets his head and bursts it with fire. The boys screamed and fell dead.
He hurried to him and found out that he was not Ben, he felt sad for killing an innocent child. He then heard a rustling footstep, and someone shouting, “Who shoots?”
He hurried to climbed the tree beside him as the two hunters darted there, seeing the blood of the dead boy.
“Oh, do you shoot him?” The first hunter said.
“Why should I do that? Someone shoot him,” The second hunter said.
“Who is that fool?”
“This is not the right time to ask for that, it seems the child is still breathing, he must not die.”
And here, on the tree, Ben’s eyes met with Santiago’s son’s eyes. Ben widened his eyes in shock, in fear, and the man smiles, he was happy that he found him, at last. But the two keep quiet till the two-man carry the child and hurried away.
Ben jumped down and flee. The man too jumped down and ran after him. Shooting at the tree so that Ben would stop.
Ben jumped over a tree, and then fell, the man caught him, breath out, and then smile.
“How dare you run away, you thought I don’t know that you saw me.”
“Who are you. You think I’m afraid of you,” Ben said.
The man starts kicking his ass. “How dare you talk to me like that? Bitch.”
Ben was yelling, in pain, blood crawled from his mouth. “You thought am scared of you and your toy?”
“Is this a toy? You are a fool,” he removed his masks, and here, here, he was someone Ben knows.
Ben looked at him in shock, “I’m I dreaming?”
“You are a fool.”
“Edwin, Why? Why are you doing this to us? Why did you shoot Erica?”
Edwin kicked his ass again. “You are a fool. All of you offend me. Erica wins the competition. Sophia blocked me on Facebook. He accepts to date Henry. I’m telling you this because I’m going to kill you now. I should have killed Sophia first, but it’s because I love her.”
He pulled the trigger, targeting Benjamin’s head, and as he is about to shoot him, someone from nowhere throwing him a big stone. Another stone was thrown at him again and again, and again.
He looked back, yelling, “Who’s that bitch?”
His hand became too weak to handle the gun and it dropped from his hands.
“I need to kill you first before the bitch dares to show up,” he growled, picking up the pistol with his left hand.
And when he is about to shoot again, someone shows up from his back and then kicked him away aside.
Edwin hurried up and darted away with the mask in his hand.
