Book:An Unexpected Wedding Published:2024-5-1

Shourya PoV:
Diya returned home from the office. After reading the case, I sat on the chair, thinking deeply about the ways to find out the culprit. Diya came with the coffee.
“Coffee,” Diya said in a shallow tone.
After two weeks, Diya talked to me. Such a delight to my heart! Does Diya know how much I missed her talk?
“Thanks,” I said and snatched the cup from her hands.
Diya looked at me and held her ears.
“I am sorry, Shourya. Please talk to me,” Diya said with a pout.
What? Diya herself stopped talking to me. I didn’t say even a word to her. I never utter words in a hurry to regret later. If Diya didn’t stop talking to me, I would have never stopped talking to her.
“Sorry has no place in our relationship,” I said to her.
There is no need to apologize to one another when there is deep trust and understanding between us. I think Diya didn’t understand my words. She mistook my words.
“Please, Shourya, don’t be that angry at me. It’s my fault to hide the fact that I went to Ranveer’s home. But I didn’t go there to hurt or insult you.”
“Diya, I already told you that I trust you. No matter what happens, but still, I trust you,” I told her.
Diya hugged me. I smiled, feeling her in my arms.
“Thank you so much. I want a chance to be your wife, heartfully. Can you accept me as your wife?” she said.
“You are already my wife, Diya,” I said, slowly caressing her hair.
“But you didn’t know my horrible past. Will you accept me even after knowing my past?”
I cupped her cute face.
“I am in no hurry to know your past. Diya, when I can’t change your past, what will I do knowing it? But as your companion for a lifetime, I must share your pain. So, tell me when you feel comfortable telling that to me and when you develop trust in me to that extent,” I said.
“I am lucky to have you in my life, Shourya,” she hugged me again, placing her head on my chest.
I hugged her and placed a kiss on her head. She broke the hug and kept her lips on mine, leaving me in shock.
“Our second kiss,” she said.
Second?? Does she know that I kissed her before?
“My dear naughty husband, I know that day it’s not my dream. You lied to me, and I believed. But later, I noticed my lipstick at the corner of your lips. So, I understood that it’s true, and my husband tried fooling me,” she said, pouting.
“So, as you knew the truth, let me do it once again,” I said, and she escaped from there.
I tried catching her and finally held her hand. I pulled her towards me and encircled her neck with my hands. I smirked and raised my eyebrow to which she smiled, blushing. I went to her lips to kiss and stopped myself.
“Take your time to trust me completely, Diya. Till then, I won’t trouble you,” I said and moved away from her.
“Thank you, but are you not angry at me?”
“No, because marriage is not all about physical relationship. Marriage is to bind two hearts together with love, trust, and understanding. Let’s wait till that happens to us.”
“Shourya, on that day, Ranveer called me saying that Ala is unwell because of chickenpox. So I went there to take care of her,” she said
“What? Does Ranveer think that you are a nurse or maid to serve Ala?” I yelled, remembering Ranveer.
“No. Ranveer requested me saying there is no one to take care of Ala and cannot trust nurse or anyone as he had rivals. He didn’t force me to help her. He just requested, and I agreed.”
I just stayed calm, listening to her words. I am studying the case file once again to understand what happened to that 14 years tribal girl. Who could it be who spoiled her life? Is it from her family or outers? How to bring out the truth?
“Shourya, do you know where is that girl now?” Diya asked me
“In her village,” I replied.
“Did you meet her?”
“No, tomorrow I am going to meet her,” I said.
“What? Just now, you agreed to me as your wife and tried to kiss me. But again, you are planning to meet that girl tomorrow. I never expect this from you,” she said with tears.
What is she talking about? Of course, I love her and accepted her as my wife. But, it doesn’t mean I should leave my job aside. Why is she crying?
“Diya, why are you crying now? It’s my job, and I need to go. I will return as soon as possible,” I said to her.
“Job?” She asked.
“Yes, You might have heard about 14 years tribal girl who is pregnant. Tomorrow I am going to her village to meet her,” I said.
“Are you talking about her? I thought you are talking about the girl whom you loved,” she said, and I smiled at her possessiveness.
“Didn’t you forget it yet?”
“No, is it not true?”
“It’s true, Diya. But it is also true that I love only my wife now. Now I don’t have any feelings towards anyone except you,” I said.
She didn’t say anything. She looked at me for some time.
“Is it possible for a person to fall in love many times with different persons? I don’t think so,” she said slowly and laid on the bed to sleep.
“Diya, you misunderstood me.”
“Good night, Shourya,” she said in a dull voice.
Oh, is my baby upset? I pulled her close to me, and she looked at me.
“I.. I.. Didn’t… Love… Anyone… Except you,” I said
“What?”
“I mean, I get feelings only on my wife. I have no time for love or something like that,” I said, half-lie to her.
I didn’t want to reveal the truth about my love for Diya so soon, as she may or may not trust me. I need time.
