Diya PoV:
Shourya started avoiding everyone including his parents and me. I didn’t understand how to talk to him. Mom and dad were extremely worried about him. We know that the complaints against him were totally fake. But how to prove it?
Sometimes conscience would be the only proof. Sadly it’s invisible to anyone. We trust Shourya, but we don’t know where is he. It hurts leaving him alone at the time when he needs his family the most.
I tried tracing his number but being a police officer, he took all steps to stop us from reaching him. Dad returned from Delhi knowing about Shourya. Shourya’s dad is a great entrepreneur. He is ready to do anything to save him. However, we didn’t know where is Shourya. Ranveer forced the department to suspend Shourya as he absconded from the duties.
I became insane day by day and lost focus on my work. Mom took me to their house seeing me sad. Dad tried a lot to find Shourya but of no use.
I went on a mission to the outskirts. I took few snaps and was returning from there. On my way, I collided with someone and I looked at him in frustration. Seeing his face made me unable to utter even a word. My eyes were filled with tears and I hugged him.
“Diya, cool down. Please don’t cry”
I hit him on the chest with anger.
“Are you mad, Shourya? Why did you leave all of us? I hate you,” I said.
“Let’s go to our guest house. I am staying there. We can talk there,” Shourya said and I went with him.
I saw the wine bottles and cigarettes scattered everywhere on the floor. I looked at him and he bent his head.
“Come, let’s go to our home,” I said.
“No, I can’t come unless I prove that I am innocent,” Shourya said.
“Are you going to prove the truth through drinking and smoking?” I said.
“I don’t share my grief with anyone.”
“I don’t leave anyone who are close to my heart alone in their grief,” I said, seriously.
“Am I close to your heart?” Shourya said, holding my wrist and pulling me towards him.
Shourya kept his another hand around my waist. He pulled me closer to him. I heard his heart beat and my breathing hardened due to sudden proximity. I was scared of Shourya’s behaviour for the first time. I couldn’t make eye contact with him.
“When you are unable to bear my closeness, how could you say that I am close to your heart, Diya? Everyone stays with us only when we are happy but if we are in a problem, everyone hides from us,” Shourya said.
His eyes showed deep pain. Of course, it’s tough for any person to face the unnecessary blame though they are sincere at their duty. He is not corrupted. He never hurt anyone. Though it’s an open secret, everyone blamed him for their selfish motives. I controlled my tears though I was unable to see my Shourya in this state.
“Except family,” I said and Shourya looked at me.
“Yes, everyone may hide when we are in a trouble but not our family. That’s the difference between a family and the outers,” I said.
“Do you trust me?” Shourya said with tears.
“Yes, I trust you. I know that you will never do wrong.”
“Then why did you ask those questions on that day?”
“As a journalist, I was compelled to ask such questions to you. But as your wife, I trust you. Let’s try together to bring out the truth,” I said and he nodded.
“I will stay here with you. I will clean all these bottles and this garbage. You go and take a shower. I will prepare the food.”
“There’s nothing in the kitchen. I ordered food online if I was hungry,” Shourya said.
I understood that he didn’t have his food properly. How could he when his heart is filled with full of sorrow?
“No problem. Is there any super market near by? I will bring the required stuff.”
“No,” Shourya almost shouted.
“I mean please you don’t go anywhere,” Shourya said, pouting.
But immediately he changed his expression and kept his face as Shourya, DCP.
“I mean to say that order the groceries through online. They will bring in one hour. You no need to take the trouble.”
I nodded. We had the food together and as he told, I didn’t inform mom and dad about him. I know they are so tensed, but still I chose to do what he said. Because, if I inform them, he may go mad with me and ask me to leave him. I can’t leave him because as his wife, I must stay with him in his hard times. I observed Shourya staring at stars silently.
“What are you doing, DCP sir?”
Shourya turned towards me with tears in his eyes.
“Shourya?”
“Diya, I don’t know whether I can be an IPS anymore or not,” Shourya said with pain in his eyes which is really hard to describe.
“Shourya, you didn’t do anything wrong. Truth always saves you. Justice is in your side. Please be brave and don’t get panic,” I tried to convince him.
He didn’t listen to me. He went inside and thrown everything on the table with frustration. He made room a mess. I held his hand to stop him, but he jerked off my hand.
“I don’t know why it happened to me. I am always sincere in my duties and I sacrificed everything for my duty. But today, I was blamed of being a corrupted and insincere police officer. I hate this bloody politics and this system where everytime innocent people were punished,” he said seriously, throwing everything in the room.
“Shourya, control yourself,” I shouted at him.
He stopped and looked at me stunned. I wiped my tears. Seeing him in this stage hurt me a lot. I never saw him this devastated. Shourya is known for his courage, but today he is upset and angry with this system. He is the one who protects the system. He should never hate this system. I should help him to regain his confidence.
“Shourya, I know it’s very painful to take the blame without your fault. But it’s the time where you should be more strong and brave.
Shourya, I know you never do anything wrong. As a journalist, I will try my best to prove the truth. I will help you. Please be strong and prove your innocence,” I said softly in a soothing voice cupping his face.
Shourya hugged me.
“Diya, atleast you are trusting me. It’s enough. I don’t want you to help me to prove the truth. Because, people won’t trust you. Instead, they will blame you by saying that as you are my wife, you are trying to save me. Don’t worry, I will prove the truth,” Shourya said to me.
We returned to our home where mom and dad stays. He tried to prove the truth. One week passed by and I have succeeded in gaining his trust. But, life has never been easy for me. Life never gives me anything I expected. It always throw challenges at me. I went to the office and there I saw an article against Shourya. I got shocked reading the content and especially the name of the person who wrote the article.
