Yolanda’s eyes lit up slightly.
As soon as she entered the jail, she asked for the identities of the people she could contact, and Rebecca’s brother was a local acquaintance with many skills.
“I will make good use of this network and never let Albina get away with it.”
Yolanda had a soft smile on her face.
-Actually, I don’t have much family left outside, but I have my hands and feet, so it’s not good to bother your brother.
-Hey, you can’t say those things. You’re my savior, my brother loves me the most and I’m sure he’ll help you. Besides, with a sponsor, why do you need to work hard on your own? Not to mention you’re not well, you need to take care of yourself.
Only when Yolanda heard her say that, she pretended to be embarrassed and accepted his kind offer.
That night, for dinner, Yolanda’s meal included a muffin that was more delicate than the others.
She recognized the label on the box that it was from the store she used to buy, it was very expensive and tasted exceptionally good.
Surprised, Yolanda asked the guard what was wrong.
The guard smiled at her and said:
-You get out of jail tomorrow and someone has bought it especially to celebrate your freedom.
Yolanda froze for a moment, and the first thing that came to her mind was Rebeca.
She had talked to Rebeca about her previous life and mentioned the cakes in this bakery.
Yolanda’s heart was gladdened.
“The cake must have been bought by her brother at Rebeca’s request.”
She lamented over and over that Rebeca’s brother sure was handy, as she caressed the piece of cake and finished it.
The soft, sweet taste she remembered melted in her mouth and gave Yolanda goose bumps.
“It’s a taste that was lost a long time ago.”
As she took small bites, she mentally promised herself that when she got out of prison she would live a life of luxury and not let Albina walk all over her again.
With the other inmates looking on enviously, Yolanda took the last bite of her cake.
That night, Yolanda gathered her things and went to bed early, thinking that tomorrow she had important things to do and had to get a good night’s rest.
In the middle of the night, a scream suddenly came from the cell.
Then the lights came on one after the other and the guards rushed to the room where the scream had come from.
It was a six-person room, and as soon as they entered, the guard saw five people standing at the door, pointing inside with frightened faces.
-What’s going on? -asked the guard hurriedly.
-Yolanda is crazy. We were sleeping well and suddenly she started screaming, jumping out of bed and hitting people with things. It was very scary.
The guards looked in and saw Yolanda sweating profusely, babbling and waving her arms without knowing what she was doing.
She looked like a madwoman.
The guards rushed to call the prison doctor to come check on Yolanda’s condition and keep the others away from the room.
Rebeca made her way through the crowd watching her. Word of Yolanda’s insanity had spread and people were talking about her everywhere.
I couldn’t believe how a person who was obviously fine during the day suddenly went crazy.
It was hard to imagine, but I could see Yolanda babbling and screaming.
Rebecca rushed over and tried to hug Yolanda.
-Yolanda, calm down and tell me what’s wrong.
Yolanda looked even more alarmed when she saw someone approaching, and her screams became louder.
Rebeca then heard something about a fire and saving lives.
“When Yolanda goes crazy, she still thinks about saving people from the fire. She looks peaceful and calm, but she really has a lot of pressure built up inside her, doesn’t she?”
-Yolanda, wake up, it’s Rebeca, what’s wrong with you? Tell me and I’ll do my best to help you.
-Rebeca? -said Yolanda, still very quiet when she heard this name.
Rebeca’s heart fluttered with joy and before she could say anything, she saw Yolanda kneeling towards her.
-I’m sorry, I admit that I started that fire. I just wanted to get out of jail. If I saved people and got credits, I could get out of jail. I’m sorry, I’m sorry. Don’t burn me, don’t burn me….
Rebeca froze, as did the jailer who had arrived with the doctor.
They had not expected Yolanda to say this, and the situation was serious.
The credit and the ransom were false, and even the fire was self-directed by this woman.
Rebecca immediately became angry, pushed Yolanda away and pointed at her with trembling fingers.
-How dare you lie to me, I still considered you my savior, you deserve to die!
The guards joined the doctor in getting Yolanda out and then immediately reported the situation to the police.
The higher-ups sent an investigative team overnight to reinvestigate not only Yolanda’s affair, but Jaime’s as well.
With Umberto and Mateo’s chicanery, and Yolanda’s self-disclosure, the two were being investigated.
It turned out that there was no such thing as self-sacrifice, it was all a self-directed show.
On the eve of their impending release, Yolanda and Jaime were not only not released, but their sentences were increased.
There was probably no way out of it without a few decades.
There was relief on the part of the Seco family as well as the Santangel family when word got out about the two.
“Good thing those two can’t get out and they’re all safe.”
Two months later, when Albina was already in her last days of pregnancy, the Espina family left Jerala City and went to the Santangel family’s house, saying they would be with Albina during the delivery.
Naturally, the Santangel family welcomed them and arranged for them to stay in the house.
Albina was happy and miserable every day with the care of a large family. She even wanted to hasten the birth of the baby in order to relieve herself.
At midnight, she fell asleep as usual, but suddenly felt a pain in her stomach and some wetness under her.
Albina snapped her eyes open and unconsciously threw a slap to the side, hitting Umberto’s handsome face.
Umberto, who had slept little these days, feared that something was wrong with Albina, so he woke up with the slap and immediately turned on the bedroom light.
-Albina, what is it? Are you going to give birth?
-The baby is coming out.
Albina’s face was full of tension, and with those words, Umberto immediately ran to the door.
Not a minute later, a group of sleepy-eyed people appeared.
Luckily, the family was prepared and the doctors had all the equipment ready to deliver at home, so there was no need to rush to the hospital late at night.
Olivia and Bianca, two experienced women, immediately gave the order for the men to wait outside the room while the two of them followed the doctor inside.
Both mothers knew their daughter was afraid of pain and had arranged for a painless delivery.
Albina expected her first baby to be difficult, but she was surprisingly well cared for and delivered without any problems.
It was a big, fat boy, seven pounds and two taels.
The baby’s loud cries were heard and Albina heard hoarse cheers from the doorway, not knowing why her eyes brimmed with tears.
Bianca held the baby carefully by her side.
-Albina, look, it’s your son. He’s a chubby boy.
The boy had been crying profusely, but when he was placed next to his mother, the crying stopped and he rubbed his wrinkled cheek against Albina’s skin.
Suddenly Albina’s heart was in turmoil.
“It’s my son.”
-Albina! -said Umberto, who had managed to run in without looking at his son, and kissed Albina on the lips- -My wife is wonderful!
With a smile on her face, Albina looked at Umberto’s reddened eyes, then at her son and felt that her happy life was complete.
