Chapter 604: The Cunning Girl

Book:The Blind Wife Published:2024-6-3

This voice ruffled Sofia’s hair.
Turning around, she saw Hector and his brother Adrian.
Hector did not look at Sofia, but noticed Diana’s dress and laughed inexplicably.
Extremely nervous, Diana clutched her dress tightly.
She could feign seriousness in front of these people, but when Hector looked at her, she was like a duck having its neck stepped on and couldn’t even make a sound.
Hector turned his gaze to the women behind Diana.
-Tell me what you just said. Don’t leave out any words.
When Hector said this, his voice was grim, as if it was slipping through his teeth.
But these women dared not speak. Sensible people already realized that Hector was angry, as if he was about to explode at any moment. They were all afraid of his cold stare.
They all lowered their heads and were silent.
Sofia looked at Hector blinking, raised her hand and said:
-I know what they just said.
Without waiting for Hector’s response, she pointed to a girl behind Diana and said:
-She just said that your parents prefer Albina. She said Albina was so cunning that she didn’t seem like a good person and that she didn’t like her. And she said Albina was domineering, bullies Diana and wants to unite her friends to exclude your sister.
Sofia accused all the girls who favored Diana.
The girls pointed out by Sofia were trembling without a sound.
Hector scoffed.
-Unbelievable! You came to my house to attend the banquet, but you slandered my sister. I already remember your faces and your families will sink in the future.
After he said this, those women were instantly frightened.
Most of them were not young. Apart from communicating with this circle, their most important purpose of participating in the banquet was to find themselves a groom.
If the news got out, their reputations would fall.
The ladies would definitely no longer be able to choose men who had better reputations among the same social class.
Aside from this, if this matter spread to their relatives, these girls would not be excused.
-Sir, it’s our fault. Please don’t tell anyone.
One of the girls finally couldn’t hold back any longer and pleaded with tears in her eyes.
Hector looked at her with disdain.
-You shouldn’t say that to me. It’s my sister you’re slandering.
The girl immediately stepped forward.
-I’m going to ask Mrs. Albina to excuse me.
The other girls also admitted their faults saying they would apologize to Albina.
Diana’s perfectly designed plan was broken by Hector.
Before Diana could express the aggravation, she heard the hate-filled voice coming from a girl next to her.
-Sir, we have never met Albina before, so we will definitely not slander her for no reason. This is all because of Diana’s words.
Startled, Diana looked at the girl, her eyes widening.
She didn’t expect this person to rat her out, so she hastily explained herself.
-Do you have evidence? When did I mention my sister’s name? It’s obvious that you think so,” she said with an innocent expression.
When she said this, the girls were stunned and thought carefully about what Diana had said.
It seemed that Diana did not really mention Albina.
But this was even more irritating to them.
The fire of hatred was burning in the girls’ eyes.
Diana used them as shields against Hector’s criticism and defended herself by appearing totally innocent.
-You didn’t say it, but you implied it. Look, you deliberately wore the old dress showing you were poor so that the girls would compare you to Albina,” Sofia mocked.
The more Sofia talked, the more she realized that Diana was very perverse.
She used to be unrestrained, direct and teased with people as she pleased, but Diana was the complete opposite of her. Therefore, Sofia feared that she would fall into the traps Diana would set for her.
Sofia turned her head and looked at Hector.
-Sir, is the Espina family really so poor that they can’t make a dress for Diana?
Diana’s pupils contracted and her heart beat fast.
-Before the banquet began, I saw her in her newly customized dress on the second floor, but apparently she changed her dress before going downstairs. Diana, explain to us why you changed your new dress for the old one? -Hector scoffed coldly.
When Diana was being coldly questioned by him, her body trembled slightly, so she looked at Hector with red eyes.
-Don’t embarrass me in front of so many people, please.
Her eyes were full of tears, as if she had been very humiliated.
As there was a lot of commotion, many guests gathered.
Bianca noticed it too and took a look around. When she saw that Diana and Hector were being surrounded by the crowd, she became nervous.
Albina frowned and tugged on Bianca’s hand.
-Mom, let’s go take a look.
-Okay.
Bianca hurriedly excused herself to her friends and led Albina into the crowd.
Since there were many guests, Umberto was afraid that someone would bump into Albina, so he followed her to protect her. When the three of them squeezed in next to Hector, almost half of the guests in the hall had already arrived.
-What’s going on? What are they arguing about?
Bianca’s face showed tranquility mixed with majesty.
Today’s banquet was very important and she didn’t want any incidents.
Without waiting for Hector and Diana to speak, Sofia told Bianca what had happened in a hurry.
What Sofia said was the truth, but due to personal grievances, she deliberately exaggerated Diana’s behavior.
Suddenly, the guests looked at Diana with suspicion.
Albina returned after more than 20 years, but at such an important banquet, Diana deliberately wore an old dress to tarnish her sister’s reputation, which was really sinister.
Diana was so angry that she looked at Sophia fiercely and then turned to Bianca.
-Mom, this girl is lying to slander me. My dress was dirty, so I had to change it for another one when the banquet started, but they misunderstood,” she said sadly.
Then she looked at Hector with fear.
-But Hector only heard her words, so he got angry with me…..
Diana could not continue and tears fell from her eyes.
Hector laughed in anger at being accused by Diana, believing that she had an innate performance that surpassed the stars.
