Chapter 599: Single for Life

Book:The Blind Wife Published:2024-6-3

Javier had always been indulgent with Diana and was a very competent boyfriend and fiance.
Although Diana wanted to go into the entertainment industry and Javier’s mother hinted at it several times and expressed her displeasure in front of her, Javier protected her and respected her decision.
But this time, Javier spoke to her in such a serious tone that it raised a wave of panic in Diana’s heart.
-Javier, you’ve got it all wrong.
Diana’s eyes were red with anxiety, she gritted her teeth and plucked up the courage to say:
-I admit that I was frightened and panicked when Albina returned. It was hard for me to keep my composure and reason, so I unconsciously wanted to hurt her. Umberto saw this and that’s why he said this in front of you. He loves Albina, so he wanted to use this to suppress me and deliberately to stir up relations between us.
Diana revealed a mixture of truth and falsehood, justifying herself and making a face of aggravation and shame.
Javier froze for a moment, but then his face relaxed greatly and he believed her words.
He could also see that Diana was targeting Albina.
The fact that Diana had confessed now showed that she was still sincere with him, so Javier put the matter aside and patted her on the shoulder.
-Okay, Diana, I believe you. Stop crying and take care of your makeup, there’s no time to fix it now.
Diana leaned back in his arms and breathed a sigh of relief for having overcome the event that almost scared her to death.
She couldn’t afford to leave Javier until there was a better option.
But then there was a fierce flash in Diana’s eyes.
Albina’s dress was surprisingly patched, something she hadn’t anticipated, and her plan to make a fool of her had backfired.
With a frown, Diana’s eyes suddenly glanced at the dress on the floor and, with a sudden gleam in her eye, a plan occurred to her.
-Javier, wait for me, I just cried and my eye makeup has smeared a little, I’ll be right back.
Javier looked at the time and nodded.
-Go ahead.
Diana was not the star of this party, so it was okay if she was a little late.
Albina walked in the direction of the ballroom with Umberto on her arm.
Umberto looked at the woman’s white skin, her exquisite profile, as tall and proud as that of a little princess, and a smile shone in his eyes.
-Our Albina is amazing, I didn’t expect you to be able to take care of a torn dress in such a short time.
Albina’s cheeks flashed with a hint of shyness at his compliments.
-It’s really not that impressive, I just did simple alterations. There was very little time to do it, so I used the pearls. After the party is over, I have to fix it again carefully, otherwise, it would have been a pity for the dress.
It would be a shame to spoil a dress that was a family heirloom.
As she spoke, sudden footsteps were heard behind them.
Albina instantly guessed who it was and turned her head to meet a head full of fluffy little curls.
-“Wow, Albina, how beautiful you look today. You’re like a fairy in heaven.
Adrian’s clear pupils were undisguisedly amazed, and he circled around Albina several times with flushed cheeks.
-I’ve never seen a girl as beautiful as you, Albina. In the future I will marry someone as beautiful too.
Umberto and Hector snorted coldly at those words.
-Fatty, you haven’t even grown up yet, and you’re already thinking about getting a wife? Aren’t you ashamed of yourself?
Hector couldn’t resist pinching his chubby little face.
Adrian glared at Hector and mumbled:
-Mom has told me that my brother is going to be single for the rest of his life. She also told me that our family depends on me to get ahead.
Hector snorted.
-Fatty, I don’t have a girlfriend, not because I can’t find one, but because I don’t want to find one. A man should put his career first?
Before the words left their mouths, Umberto and Adrian burst out laughing simultaneously.
Hector’s cheeks flushed with rage.
Umberto put his arm around Albina, looked at the brothers and boasted:
-Marrying a woman doesn’t slow down your career. Look at me, I’m making a great career and I’m going to have children in no time. Hector, don’t make excuses.
Adrian nodded approvingly and, before he could speak, he heard Umberto address him.
-Fatty, don’t think too much either. There is no girl in this world prettier than your sister, and you shouldn’t be so demanding or you’ll have to be single for the rest of your life like your brother.
These words made both of them stare at him, and the two siblings, whose relationship was not usually so harmonious, finally bonded this time.
Albina watched them with a smile on her face.
-Why are you still here? Come on, the party is about to start. Albina, come down with me, your father wants to formally introduce you to everyone.
Bianca was wearing a white lace Chinese dress, very elegant and generous. With her glowing skin, beautiful features and gentle air, this dress suited her beautifully.
Albina’s eyes lit up at the sight of her.
-Mom, how beautiful you look today.
Bianca’s cheeks flushed slightly and she glared at her.
-You’re very good with compliments. Our Albina looks great today too, you look better than any of the girls at the party.
A mother’s daughter was always the most beautiful, and Bianca thought Albina was the most beautiful in the world.
Bianca was leading Albina down the stairs when suddenly something occurred to her and she looked at the men behind them.
-By the way, where is Diana? I couldn’t see her in the ballroom.
Hector, now angry at her mention, said to Bianca:
-Now she should be with Javier and I don’t know what she is doing. Mom, have you noticed anything different about Albina’s dress?
Bianca, upon being reminded, looked at Albina and instantly realized that something was wrong.
-Albina, the hem of your skirt?
She had seen the dress when it was first brought in and remembered that the skirt did not have a feather and pearl print.
-When Albina was about to change her dress, she discovered that the hem had been cut by a knife,” Hector explained. Mom, who do you think did it?
Bianca froze for a moment and then startled.
-You mean Diana?
-I don’t think there’s anyone else but her.
The guests were all downstairs and no one went upstairs during that time, the only people going in and out of Albina’s room were the maids, so they were suspects too.
But the maids in the house didn’t hold a grudge against Albina, and she had a good personality and had only been in the family for a day or so, so….
Only one person was could have been the culprit, and Diana was the most suspicious.
