It was a great meal.
But Diana was the only one who was a little lost.
Sensing that she was not in a good mood, Javier leaned over to her and whispered in her ear:
-Diana, what’s wrong?
Diana gasped at the sound of his voice and replied:
-Nothing, the food is not to my taste.
Javier looked at the dishes on the table with a frown.
Half of the dishes on the table were sweet and sour, and Albina was so pregnant that she couldn’t eat anything but this flavor.
Diana, on the other hand, liked very spicy dishes, so there was only a little of that type on the table and it was basically in front of her.
Antonio and Bianca, although they loved their daughter, did not neglect Diana and took care of her.
Javier thought Diana was jealous because Antonio and Bianca were being too nice to Albina.
-Don’t think too much, today is Albina’s first day at home and it’s been more than twenty years since they have seen each other, so it’s normal that they are a little excited. Don’t be jealous, they love their daughter, but I will love you later,” she whispered soothingly in his ear.
Javier’s cheeks flushed as he said this. He rarely spoke with such affection, and it was only when he saw how Umberto cared for Albina without any qualms that he plucked up the courage to say it.
To him, it had been a burst of bravery, but to Diana’s ears, it was really very awkward.
Diana was a little sad inside, even if Javier didn’t play along, he was even speaking for them. Did she think it was normal to be brushed aside and ignored?
She nodded randomly and looked at Umberto out of the corner of her eye.
Umberto was carefully feeding Albina the food, almost as if he was stuffing the vegetables and rice into her mouth.
-Eat something, don’t be picky, have balanced nutrition for a healthy body.
The low voice was full of affection, coaxing Albina like a little girl.
-But I don’t like carrots – Albina pursed her lips and looked with disgust at the carrots in front of her.
With a smile, Umberto cajoled her:
-I just tasted it, and it’s so well done that it doesn’t have that carrot taste anymore, you can eat it.
Albina grunted.
-For starters, you don’t hate carrots, so it’s normal for you to feel it normal.
That said, she still ate it with a pained expression.
Umberto wiped his mouth and said patiently:
-See, isn’t it delicious?
-A little,” said Albina, eating another piece of carrot he gave her.
Umberto saw that she did not refuse and took the opportunity to make her eat a lot of vegetables.
This was already an everyday thing for both of them, but the people of the Espina family, together with Javier, seemed astonished.
Umberto was able to spoil someone to such an extent that he didn’t even try two bites of his food while taking care of Albina all the time.
Bianca pretended to get angry.
-Umberto, don’t spoil her so much. If you spoil her so much, she won’t be able to eat without you.
Umberto smiled at Bianca and said:
-Then she just must not leave me and I will continue to take care of her for the rest of her life.
This comment made Antonio and Bianca smile from ear to ear and look at Umberto with sweetness in their eyes.
Hector gave Umberto a silent thumbs up.
Diana bit down on the chopsticks so hard she made two deep teeth marks in them.
She looked at Javier, who was eating alone, with a growing sense of imbalance.
He had never received so much attention in the twenty years of his life. He clenched his palms fiercely as he looked at Albina with jealousy.
“Why is God so unfair? If he’s already given Albina enough, why does he keep giving her more? He even came home and will take away everything I had before. He should never have come back, as long as he didn’t, I would still be the only daughter of the Espina family, and I wouldn’t have been belittled and ostracized like I am now.”
As she ate, Albina noticed an unusual look and peered over to meet Adrian’s complex eyes.
Adrian was sitting in a special chair, his face plump and soft, his hair curly and fluffy, like that of a pretty doll, but with eyes so full of emotion that they made Albina freeze for a moment.
-Adrian, why aren’t you eating, doesn’t food agree with you? -Albina asked aloud.
Adrian lowered his head and didn’t say a word as he ate the rice.
On the other side, Antonio handed a plate to his little son, stroked his hair and said to Albina:
-Albina, what Adrian likes most are sweet and sour dishes, and today the dishes on the table are basically the ones he likes. The fat boy is nervous to see you.
-I’m not! -Adrian tilted his head in annoyance and looked at Antonio, “I’m not nervous.
But when the boy said something, the adults just thought he was shy. Antonio stroked his head and laughed.
-Well, our Adrian is not nervous.
The comment made the group laugh out loud and Diana lowered her eyes and hooked the corners of her lips in secret.
Albina looked at Adrian once again, laughing on the outside like everyone else, but muttering on the inside.
This chubby boy was in a slightly different mood than he had been when they had just met for the first time, and she could see a hint of dislike in his eyes just now.
“Does the boy hate me?”
After the meal, the servants cleared the table and the group returned to the drawing room for tea.
As the maid cleaned up, she held up Diana’s chopsticks to show them to the person next to her.
-Look, Miss Diana’s chopsticks have such deep teeth marks on them…..
-Wow, these chopsticks are no good anymore. Such good wood can have teeth marks, she….
Doria heard the two whispering and snatched the chopsticks from her, looking at them coldly.
-Clear the table and stop talking nonsense.
Caught in the act, the two dared not say much and hurried to pack their things with scowls, but what they were muttering in their hearts was unknown.
Doria put the chopsticks away and looked at Diana, who was sitting at the other end of the room, with a slightly worried look on her face.
Miss Diana was a little sullen, and if word spread among the servants, sooner or later it would reach Mistress Bianca’s ears.
She had to be more careful not to get carried away, lest Antonio and Bianca get angry.
Antonio and Bianca barely hid their affection for Albina, their biological daughter weighed more heavily in their hearts than their adopted daughter.
Diana had no advantage in this regard.
