Chapter 579: Failing to Show Off

Book:The Blind Wife Published:2024-6-3

Diana believed that Javier and she had a good relationship, and although the two were in a marriage contract, they maintained a true relationship of love, unlike other rich people.
But watching Albina and Umberto’s interactions, she always felt something was missing. She and Javier were not that intimate.
Diana was not feeling well.
She always thought Albina was very miserable during these years, but she discovered that even though this girl was living in exile, she was still living a happy and fulfilling life. Her husband adored her, and so did her parents.
Even the older brother, Hector, who used to be mean in front of Diana, was very patient with Albina.
When Hector handed Albina the peeled oranges, he had an attentive and loving look that made Diana’s heart sour.
Bianca saw the peeled oranges and with a smile in her eyes, she took Albina’s hand and said:
-Your brother still remembers how you like them. As a child you only liked to eat peeled oranges, and when you were at home, it was your brother who peeled them for you with a lot of patience.
Hector smiled with a little embarrassment, but his eyes were kind as he looked at Albina.
-As long as Albina likes it, of course I must spoil her.
Albina’s heart warmed as she looked at the people of the Espina family gathered around her. Seeing the smiles on their faces, all her nervousness and anxiety disappeared with their excitement.
Umberto’s heart felt relieved that so many people were spoiling Albina.
He was sitting next to Albina, watching them talk, giving them all the space and not interrupting them.
At that moment, Diana took the floor.
-Mr. Umberto, what does your family do?
This sudden question attracted everyone’s gaze.
Diana was aware of the eyes of the others, and Hector’s disgust could not have been more evident.
She took Javier’s arm at her side and said to Umberto with a warm smile:
-My fiance’s family has a lot of business, so if you have any problems, you can call Javier. We are all family, he will help you.
At these words, both Antonio and Bianca made a strange face.
Diana noticed the anomaly and hurried to remedy the situation.
-I’m not saying that the Espina family won’t help you, you are Albina’s husband and the family will surely help you when you have problems. But after all, the Espina family is not involved in many industries, but the Romero family is more extensive and can help you in more ways?
Javier couldn’t listen to her any longer and pulled Diana’s sleeve in a hurry, looking a little embarrassed.
Hector had looked away, feeling a little amused.
It was funny that Diana was showing off to Umberto.
He was sitting watching the drama, his hands constantly throwing fruit at his sister Alina.
-Why are you pulling me? -Diana looked at Javier and smiled, feigning innocence, “I know you’re always modest, but Mr. Umberto is already part of the family, so there’s no need to beat around the bush.
Before Albina came into the Espina family, Diana had only heard of her from Bianca, and all she knew was a normal family had adopted Albina.
Diana had not heard of any other Espina family besides this one, so she had an idea that Albina, with her average family background, would marry someone on the same level as her adoptive parents.
It was not good for her to brag and show her superiority directly in front of Albina, so she compared her fiance to Umberto, and thought it would be a victory for her.
Bianca saw Diana, got angry and reminded her:
-Diana, Umberto is from the Santangel family of Sogen City and is the president of the Santangel Group.
Diana froze for a moment.
She basically grew up in Jerala City and lived her life in this city, so she usually paid more attention to girl stuff and didn’t care much about the other families outside the city, so she had no idea what that meant.
Javier couldn’t stand it any longer and whispered in her ear:
-The Santangel family is much nobler than my family, so Umberto doesn’t need my help! Not even Senor Antonio would dare to say that in front of Umberto!
Diana’s eyes were surprised and her expression was a bit incredulous.
-How is this possible? I thought Albina’s adoptive parents were an ordinary family. How could she meet such a powerful man and marry him?
She was so surprised that, without realizing it, she blurted out what she was thinking.
Umberto smiled, he didn’t even want to engage in conversation with such a shallow woman. Seeing Albina finish eating, he naturally took out a wet handkerchief to help her wipe the corners of her mouth and hands.
Umberto’s patience and care calmed Bianca’s anger and made her look at him with satisfaction.
Albina was attended to by Umberto before casting a lazy glance at Diana.
-Diana, it’s a long story. Maybe because I am prettier Umberto fell in love with me at first sight and wanted to marry me, so he cried and took me home, didn’t he?
As she finished speaking, she winked at Umberto.
-Yes, the first time I saw Albina, I couldn’t take my eyes off her and thought I would regret it for the rest of my life if I didn’t marry her, so I tricked her into coming back. Luckily, Albina liked me too, so I was able to get what I wanted.
Albina proudly lifted her delicate chin at his words.
Diana, annoyed at being defeated, hated Antonio and Bianca for not telling her who Umberto was and ended up making a fool of herself. She smiled slyly and disguised it by saying:
-Well, Albina is very lucky.
“How can she be so lucky? She was born into such a rich family and met such a wonderful man like Umberto, even after all these years of absence. Why could Albina be a winner in life!”
Diana thought God was unfair.
After what he had said, the scene was already uncomfortable and Diana could feel Hector’s sarcastic look as she remained seated.
Suddenly, Doria’s voice broke the silence.
-Madam, the food is ready.
Hearing this, Diana breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Doria with gratitude in her eyes.
Albina, for her part, stood still with a frown on her face.
