Albina followed Olivia’s gaze and noticed the three gems, which were somewhat better than the others in size, color and quality.
She rested her arm on the table and frowned as she looked at the three gems with a complicated expression.
-I always get the feeling I’ve seen these three gems before somewhere.
It was as if someone had taken it in person and shown it to him in detail.
But she couldn’t remember how.
Olivia rubbed her hair and said affectionately:
-If you don’t remember, don’t think about it. All gems look alike, maybe you’ve seen others like them.
Albina nodded.
-Mom is right. Forget it, I’ll draw my design.
When it was time to leave work, Umberto arrived to take her home.
It was the first time he had come to the renovated studio and neither the receptionist nor the rest of the staff had seen him before. They thought he was a guest.
Umberto’s face was cold as he told the staff:
-I am the husband of your boss.
-So she’s the boss….
The employee blurted out the words, then felt something was wrong and hurriedly covered his mouth.
Albina happened to come out, heard this and looked at Umberto’s somewhat somber face and pursed her lips.
She hurried to take Umberto by the arm and said to them:
-I’m leaving work, you guys pack up and go home soon too.
-Okay, boss, take care of yourself.
Hearing the word “boss”, Albina thought of the phrase she had heard and could not help a smile at the corners of her eyes.
Umberto looked at her helplessly and smoothed her hair before grabbing her around the waist and helping her out.
From a distance, she could hear his slightly gravelly but soft voice:
-Are you tired from work? Did the baby make a fuss?
Several employees came to the door and watched the two enter the elevator until they began to whisper excitedly.
-So this is the boss’s husband, Mr. Umberto Santangel of the Santangel Group. He really lives up to his name, he’s very handsome.
One of the employees cupped his cheeks and said:
-How good they both look, I’m beginning to imagine what their children will be like.
-I’m so jealous. Hey, did you hear what he said just now? Mr. Santangel spoke so softly to our boss, and that look in his eyes, it’s just so much love.
Albina was unaware that her own staff was talking about them behind her back, and as she and Umberto headed downstairs, she gave a brief account of the day’s events.
-Do you know Hector? I had a pretty good impression of him, but I didn’t think he was going to fool people with something that big.
He said his sister was missing, but it was clear he was making a name for himself in the entertainment industry, and if it weren’t for Olivia, I might still be feeling sorry for him.
Umberto’s eyes flickered in place, looking at Albina’s pretty peach blossom eyes, pulling out his phone to find a picture of Hector and looking at it for himself, with a plan in mind.
But he didn’t say it. It was no good going public now that the matter was still uncertain.
-I know this man, he seems calm and steady in nature. He doesn’t seem like someone who would lie, so maybe he’s hiding something.
Umberto sympathized.
Albina’s voice faltered and her face grew thoughtful.
“He has another sister, but missing and unknown to outsiders? This seems to make sense.”
-Forget it, whatever her sister is, my job is to design clothes. Her sister has nothing to do with me, as long as the clothes are to her liking,” said Albina, raising her arm to signal Umberto to drive.
Umberto looked away with a grimace.
“What a fool, she doesn’t know how to think anymore.”
“It’s possible she really had something to do with you.”
The car moved smoothly forward toward the Santangel family.
Albina suddenly remembered the Seco family and asked Umberto:
-How is Mateo adjusting to the Seco family? Is he being accepted by the rest of the Seco family?
Although he was a son of the Seco family, he hadn’t been back in over twenty years and was like an outsider in the family, so he probably would have encountered a lot of resistance.
-Albina, don’t underestimate Mateo. This man is not at all simple, to outsiders, he is very ruthless. Besides, Alfredo is still here, who would dare to make things difficult for him?
Umberto said this with a little grimace on his face.
Mateo had been on the street since he was very young, and it was not a lucky thing that he had done so well. He inherited Alfredo’s prudence and made a good living at Grupo Seco.
Some things just came with the genes and that was indelible.
Despite being raised by Alfredo for over twenty years, Jaime was still no match for Mateo, who grew up roaming the streets.
Albina caught her breath at hearing him speak so highly of Mateo.
-Is he that good?
In her mind, Mateo had always been a pathetic little being.
She still remembered Mateo as the man in the elevator, pale with fear and balled up, and as the man dressed in rags, crouched in front of the Starbucks holding a paper cup.
He just didn’t match the man Umberto was talking about.
-As much as I hate to admit it, Mateo really shouldn’t be underestimated.
This was Umberto’s honest opinion. Fortunately, the Dry Group and the Santangel Group didn’t have any important encounters, and they feared that it would be difficult to deal with them if they were really on tenterhooks.
Albina nodded thoughtfully and suddenly remembered something else.
-By the way, what about Jaime, is he still at peace in prison? I’m afraid he will have to suffer in prison, given his nature as a young master.
Jaime was quite unbearable and liked to put on a show, but he was the type of person who received the most beatings in prison.
Umberto frowned as he came to a stoplight and stopped short, turning his head to look at Albina.
-Albina, do you remember what I told you about Yolanda last time?
Albina froze for a moment and nodded her head.
-Yes.
He had said that there had been an accident at the prison and that Yolanda had saved the lives of several inmates despite the danger to herself, so her sentence had been commuted and she would be released in the next few days.
-What’s going on? What does this matter have to do with Jaime?
Suddenly Albina felt a little nervous inside and had a bad feeling.
Umberto hesitated and decided to tell her:
-The same thing happened to Jaime, and this time it was more serious. A prisoner had explosives and Jaime discovered him, and despite the danger, he picked him up alone and threw him into an open area, saving the lives of many guards and prisoners. To his great credit, I’m afraid the prison won’t be able to hold him for long.
