Umberto looked at the microphone and camera in front of him and frowned, slightly annoyed.
Ruben noticed this and hurried to stop the reporters from approaching him.
Despite this, the reporter insisted on holding the microphone and addressing Umberto:
-Mr. Santangel, have you already found the person who saved your life back then? Is it that gentleman?
The reporter pointed to Saul with excitement.
The Santangel Group was publicly searching for their benefactor on social networks, and many people were paying attention to this.
But none of them expected journalists to burst in at that moment.
Ruben was quick to ask security to protect Umberto.
-Mr. Santangel, we are broadcasting live. Many netizens are very concerned about this matter. Please respond.
The reporter was excited and smug. He was sure that Umberto would not do anything to him in public, so, despite being blocked by security guards, he tried to sneak in front of Umberto.
Umberto’s eyes looked extremely frightening.
The reporter was taken aback by this look and immediately shut up.
Umberto looked at him for a moment, then lifted his chin slightly and replied:
-We are still not sure that this person is my savior.
As soon as the reporter heard him speak, he became interested and asked:
-But I just heard that you check all kinds of information, haven’t you all established that, haven’t you, sir? -Right, sir?
The last sentence he asked Saul.
Saul froze for a moment and nodded:
-I was asked some questions before and I answered them all.
He said it in a smart way, without saying directly that he was Umberto’s savior, but he didn’t object either.
Umberto gave him a sidelong glance.
The reporter became even more excited by Saul’s words and looked at Umberto.
-Mr. Santangel, since this gentleman has already answered your questions and you have found out that he was indeed present near the hotel ten years ago, why are you still not sure? -Is it possible that the Santangel Group has no sincere intention of returning the favor?
-Shut up!
Ruben interrupted him. His brow furrowed as he looked this journalist up and down.
“This person is so uneducated! Not only did he sneak into the Santangel Group for an interview, but he also maliciously speculated about Mr. Santangel!”
Ruben thought about the fact that they were broadcasting live, and became even more obnoxious.
-We are here to interview Mr. Santangel. If he really hasn’t done anything, what can’t he say publicly.
The journalist acted justifiably, as if he was on the moral high ground and could criticize anyone.
Umberto smiled at his words and said in a low tone:
-When did I ever agree to an interview from you? You have broken into our company and are forcing me to film an interview without our consent, so I can sue you for copyright infringement.
The reporter froze and panicked.
-I am a journalist, and I have the right to conduct interviews. As long as it’s not involving public safety, it’s not an infringement.
-You seem to be well prepared.
Umberto looked toward the reporter and the camera behind him.
The first moment they entered, Ruben had someone cover the camera lens, but his voice came through clearly.
-This is my private business. I am not prepared nor do I want it to be made public. Your forced interview will cause me distress. Right now you have deliberately exposed yourself and speculated wildly, which should be against the journalist’s principle of seeking the truth. You have caused damage to my reputation, which should constitute an offense.
As he spoke, he looked at the camera mockingly.
-I don’t know how you got in, but in my company there are many departments with confidential projects. You are filming without permission, and I suspect you have been sent by another company to deliberately try to expose the Santangel Group’s trade secrets.
As soon as these words came out, the reporters immediately tensed up.
They were a little unsure how to respond. They had indeed acted unreasonably by going in and filming the interview.
Although many viewers were curious about the matter, there were also sensible people. The reporter took a quiet look around and found that the comments from the viewers were all accusations against them.
He hurriedly turned around and winked at the person behind him, whereupon he hurriedly turned off the machine and forced a break in the broadcast.
Then, with a flattering smile on his face, the reporter said to Umberto:
-Mr. Santangel, it’s all a misunderstanding. We are too curious about this matter. Your influence is too great, so as long as we can report this news in the first place, our newspaper will have an advantage over the others. I’m just a reporter, and it’s all by order of the editor in chief….
He begged for mercy, trying to get Umberto to let him off the hook this time.
Umberto grimaced, looked at him and asked:
-What media are you from? Ruben, go see his press card! You have to sue and investigate, all according to the law.
This reporter gritted his teeth, but could do nothing.
Originally, he thought that by using public opinion, he could force Umberto to tell the truth, but he did not expect that he would harm himself instead. The situation was now so embarrassing that he could only pull out his press card and show it to Ruben.
Saul felt a little bad as he watched them duck their heads.
Just now they had burst in with so much momentum that even he had thought that Umberto would give in and admit that he was their savior.
As it turned out, however, these people were quick to give in to Umberto.
Umberto looked again at Saul’s pale face and suddenly asked the journalists:
-How did you get this news?
Almost every day, people came to the Santangel Group claiming to be lifeguards. Previously, however, no reporters had barged in, but today, when Saul approached, they came.
And they seemed especially sure that Saul was their savior.
The reporter froze for a moment and said earnestly:
-Someone called to break the news that he had found his savior, that he was already at the company, and that he wasn’t going to announce it to the public. So the editor-in-chief sent me.
But it was very difficult to get into the Santangel Group and even more difficult to interview Umberto. Previously, some well-known media had tried to invite him for an interview, but he had refused, so the journalists didn’t even try to go through the normal channels.
They posed as interviewers, brought them in and snuck in when no one was looking.
The reporter’s face was a little red with embarrassment as he said this.
-Someone broke the news.
Umberto sighed and looked toward Saul, who had been greeted by Ruben and then approached him.
Before they were completely sure, the journalists were already waiting at the door of Grupo Santangel.
So the person who broke the news could only be someone from Saul’s side.
Saul received this look and was quick to shake his head.
-Mr. Santangel, when I came here, I did not reveal my whereabouts. It wasn’t me who made someone give the news.
Umberto grimaced.
“Of course it wasn’t him, but the person behind him who did it.”
But he didn’t show it on his face, looked at Saul and said:
-Although many clues have been found, decisive evidence is lacking to prove that you are my savior. I have heard that you still have no place to stay? -said Umberto and looked at Ruben- Arrange a place for Mr. Guillen. We will look for decisive evidence as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can think about whatever you want, and if I find evidence that proves your identity, I will do my best to satisfy your demands for having saved my life.
He had already said so, so Saul could only accept.
Before he arrived, Mr. Seco told him not to get impatient. If Umberto didn’t believe him, he should also be calm. As long as they couldn’t discover that he was an imposter, there was plenty of leeway with his identity.
Umberto saw that he agreed and asked Ruben to escort him out.
After Saul came out, Umberto looked at Ruben.
Having been by his side for so many years, Ruben instantly understood what he meant, so he nodded implicitly and walked out with Saul.
