Chapter 165: Her attitude changed

Book:The Blind Wife Published:2024-6-3

Mrs. Santangel thought about things all along the way, feeling heavy in her heart.
After returning home, she went back to the room and showered to get ready. As soon as she got out, she saw Sergio returning from next door.
After greeting Sergio, she hesitated for a while and then awkwardly said:
-Daddy, can you call Umberto for dinner at home tonight?
-How? -Sergio was very surprised when he heard her words suddenly- -Why are you saying this all of a sudden, why do you want to bother Umberto again?
She didn’t know what Sergio remembered, but he seemed nervous and gave her a sharp look:
-Olivia, do you want Umberto and Albina to split up again?
Noticing that Sergio was looking at her with vigilance and seriousness, Olivia’s body stiffened and she felt more embarrassed, then she said at once:
-Of course not. Before Umberto and you have reproached me many times for this matter, and I have learned my lesson.
Seeing Sergio looking at her with many suspicions and who obviously did not believe her, she finally did not hide the truth and told him what happened today.
Sergio was very excited after hearing it:
-She is worthy to be my grandson’s wife, brave and intelligent.
Then, he glanced at Mrs. Santangel lightly:
-Olivia, are you convinced now?
Mrs. Santangel looked embarrassed, did not nod or shake her head, and then continued:
-Albina was injured for saving me. I am not the one who does not know how to respond to favors. I just got a bottle of ointment and it is very effective. With the ointment, the wound will heal in a few days without leaving a scar.
So I wanted Umberto to come home for dinner and find an opportunity to pass the ointment to Albina.
Sergio nodded his head. When Mrs. Santangel was prejudiced against a person, she would act in a very extreme and bad way, but if she really realized that she was a good person, her attitude would also change, and although she would feel uncomfortable, she would still know how to admit her mistakes.
With this reason, when her son was crying and screaming wanting to marry her, Sergio agreed, otherwise, he would never have allowed her to be a member of the Santangel Family because of the way she was.
-It’s not necessary. Go get him. He must be at home now,” Sergio finished the talk and went straight upstairs.
It wasn’t good if Umberto and she remained stuck this year, so Sergio especially gave her the opportunity to see if she could take advantage of it and make Umberto’s attitude towards her improve.
Mrs. Santangel sat on the couch, looking at Sergio’s figure and holding the bottle, she held on for a long time and finally stood up.
-Prepare the car. Let’s go to that young master’s house.
Sergio paused for a while as he climbed the stairs and a smile appeared on his face.
Being the old man, he certainly hoped that the family could be harmonious. He was not satisfied with the daughter-in-law, but he still admired her merits. She was adaptable to circumstances, she was not disobedient or unfilial, and although she was a bit of an idiot, but she could still be taught step by step.
Mrs. Santangel arrived at Umberto’s house and hesitated for a long time before knocking on the door.
The last time she came there was a year ago, she threw Albina’s things away and Umberto clearly forbade her to go back there. She didn’t know whether this time’s coming would irritate him or not.
After knocking on the door for a while, she heard the sound of steady footsteps inside and then the door opened.
Umberto was dressed in casual house clothes and wore a pair of gold-rimmed glasses whose expression was indifferent.
His appearance was serious and he wore the glasses to hide the fierce look, but he also had a temperament of coldness and abstinence, which made him seem unfathomable.
-Umberto! -Mrs. Santangel smiled stiffly and greeted him.
In front of the son, she was always unconsciously afraid.
-Why do you come here? -Umberto frowned and asked.
Not even to call her as a mother.
Mrs. Santangel felt sour as she remembered Albina’s words on the bench, how long Umberto didn’t call her as mom or talk to her about something intimate.
Honestly, Umberto never told her even a so-called confidant from the time she was born until now.
With his character, it was impossible to sit down with his mother and talk intimately.
Thinking about this, he looked somewhat distressed on his face:
-Can I come in to talk?
Although Umberto was not happy with what Mrs. Santangel had done earlier, she was still his biological mother and he could not chase her away directly.
He hesitated for a while and then moved to give way.
Mrs. Santangel entered the home.
She hadn’t entered the house for a year, so it felt like a dream in an instant when she walked in and saw the various furniture and trim inside.
She was surprised because she had thrown away many things before that were all things related to Albina. But why had the things come back?
Mrs. Santangel approached a decoration, looked at it and noticed that it was not the one from before but much newer than the one from the past.
Suddenly she understood that it was possible that the things she had thrown away were no longer there and that it was her son Umberto who picked them up little by little.
Mrs. Santangel stood suspended on the spot with moist eyes and remembered again what Albina had said in her mind.
She said that it was her son who begged for her return leaving her dignity.
At the thought of this, Mrs. Santangel felt extreme pain because her son was none other than Umberto.
Since he was a child, he had been raised in an atmosphere of luxury and wealth and everything was going smoothly for him. No one dared to show him a bad expression. No one was worthy of him lowering his noble head.
Although she left him to Sergio to raise when he was very young, she was very proud of her son.
In all of Sogen City, no one of the same generation could compare to Umberto.
However, Umberto lost his dignity to Albina, then Mrs. Santangel felt pain and hatred at the same time, but she had no other choice because he was Umberto, and even she herself could not change her ideas being his mother.
Seeing Mrs. Santangel looking at the things in the house with red eyes, Umberto pursed his lips slightly and then said:
-What does she come here for? If you have nothing else, I have to go back to work.
-Are you so impatient to chase me away? -Mrs. Santangel turned her head with a trembling voice and fixed her gaze on Umberto.
In fact, Umberto was confused by her attitude.
Umberto grew up next to his grandfather since he was a child and had a good relationship with his parents.
Above all, the relationship between Mrs. Santangel and him became worse in this year. Whenever Mrs. Santangel saw him, she always argued with him or threatened him, but she had never shown emotion like this.
Umberto was simply stunned for a while and then pointed to the small table.
Mrs. Santangel looked in the direction of his fingers and saw that the tea table was filled with various documents and reports, two computers were running at the same time and there was a large amount of data on them.
She stopped crying and for some reason, she felt something guilty in her heart.
Umberto was very busy and did not look for an excuse. He didn’t wear the glasses in general, but he was going to wear them when he worked.
Others said Umberto was smart and had a lot of talent in business, and even Mrs. Santangel thought so, but when she saw the dense papers and documents piled on the desk, Mrs. Santangel felt a sharp pain in her heart:
-Today is the weekend, but why don’t you go and rest?
Umberto rubbed his temples whose eyes were a little tired:
-I have to fix something about the company -What are you coming for?
He asked her the question again. Mrs. Santangel closed her lips and then expressed her attention.
Hearing that Albina was hurt, Umberto frowned at once and unconsciously took out his cell phone and was about to dial the number. But he paused when he saw that Mrs. Santangel was still next door.
Mrs. Santangel seemed to sense his mood and then took out the bottle of ointment, saying:
-Give Albina on my behalf the thanks.
A surprise shone in Umberto’s eyes because he did not expect his mother to give the medicine to Albina. What happened was really strange.
His attitude softened, so was he going to accept Albina?
Umberto held the bottle with his slender fingers, lowered his head and suddenly spoke:
-I am definitely going to marry Albina, there is nobody else but her.
Then he raised his head and looked at her firmly.
Mrs. Santangel closed her lips and shook her head:
-You’re an adult, then, you decide your own things.
A surprise welled up in Umberto’s eyes.
Mrs. Santangel could not see him like that, because he had no emotion when he met her, his mother, but he was very happy when she mentioned Albina.
-But I still don’t like Albina. You can marry her, but you don’t expect me to like her.
At least, she didn’t like him at the moment!
