Chapter 19: Not Being Her Heat

Book:The Blind Wife Published:2024-6-3

Yolanda was completely flabbergasted, she really didn’t expect this to happen.
Yes, what she said was true!
The two had not yet taken out a divorce certificate and were not yet divorced!
The spectators were also stunned by this truth, according to the conversation between the two, they could guess some things approximately, then they started to look at Yolanda with mockery.
Yolanda was really embarrassed to continue to stay there and looked at Albina:
-Albina, we’ll see!
After saying that, she left as if she was guilty.
Seeing that the scandal was over, the spectators left and the waiter looked at the broken bowl and the soup all over the floor, he said to Albina:
-Albina, I’ll bring another lunch for you.
-Thank you, I have no appetite now – Albina smiled reluctantly, thanking him.
Seeing this, the waiter helped her clean the floor and left.
When everyone left, Albina sat down in the chair and called Umberto.
The phone connected quickly and Umberto’s indifferent voice came on:
-What’s up?
Albina heard his voice, her lips trembled and she took a deep breath before saying:
-Umberto, I remembered that we still didn’t go to get the divorce certificate, when you are free, could you come with me, please?
After speaking, there was no sound from the other side for a long time.
Albina had to ask him again:
-Umberto, are you listening to me?
It took her a long time to hear Umberto grit his teeth saying:
-I’m very busy and I don’t have time lately.
After saying that, he hung up the phone.
Umberto stared at the phone while breathing heavily in anger.
-Mr. Santangel, do you want me to adjust your schedule…? -Ruben also overheard their conversation a moment ago and asked cautiously.
Umberto gave him a stern look:
-Shut up and get out of here!
Ruben knew he was in a very bad mood, left the office at once, looked in Umberto’s direction as he left and shrugged helplessly. Mr. Santangel had always been resolute and had never been so patient with anyone except Albina.
It was a pity that the two of them couldn’t have known that.
After what happened to Yolanda, Albina wanted to cure her eyes even more so she could dodge danger like today.
Early the next morning, she went to the hospital.
Fortunately, the hospital where Miguel worked was the same one where her mother was hospitalized.
Albina was happy, she thought that after the treatment, maybe she would be able to hear her mother’s voice.
She was leaning against the wall with one hand and the other was holding a blind cane, walking cautiously, when suddenly she heard disorderly footsteps beside her and the anxious voices of doctors and nurses.
A patient asked:
-What happened, why do the doctors and nurses look so worried?
Another person said:
-I heard that it seems that an ICU patient was fine yesterday, but just now, when the nurse went to deliver medication, she discovered that she was already out of breath.
Hearing this, Albina instantly became nervous.
ICU?
The first person she could remember was her mom.
-No, it can’t be her, mom must be fine! -she mumbled to herself, but panicked and fell heavily to the floor.
A passing nurse quickly helped her up:
-Miss, are you all right?
Albina’s face turned pale, she took her hand tightly and asked fearfully:
-Are you a doctor?
-I am a nurse!
Her eyes were red and she could not see the nurse, but still she stared at her and asked in perturbation:
-Please tell me what is the name of the person who died recently in ICU?
The nurse was startled at the sight of his face and subconsciously replied:
-It seems that her name is Marisa?
In an instant Albina’s brain went blank.
Marisa, her mother’s name was Marisa!
Her tears fell, her lips trembled for a long time and she could not say a word, finally she held the nurse’s hand tightly and said in a hoarse voice:
-Please take me there, I am Marisa’s daughter.
When they arrived at the ICU, the doctor saw Albina and told her in a voice full of guilt:
-I’m sorry, the patient had already passed away when we found out.
Albina did not want to hear anything, pushed him and stumbled into the room.
With the nurse’s help, she was finally able to touch her mother’s cold, stiff fingers.
Albina’s emotions suddenly collapsed, she was extremely sad, her heart seemed to stop at the same time, her hands and feet were numb and she had difficulty breathing.
-Mom… here I am… I’m coming to see you!
Her tears kept falling, and she couldn’t even cry out, she just kept rubbing her cold fingers on her cheeks:
-Mom, wake up, don’t fall asleep, please…. Mom… I want you to talk to me, I want to see you….
When Umberto came rushing in and saw the tragic image of her, he immediately froze in place.
-Albina.
He called out to her softly.
Albina stopped and turned her head toward the door in a very drooping mood:
-Umberto… Umberto… my mother’s hands are very cold, what should I do… not being her warmth, what can I do?
