-Dr. Eagle?
-It’s me!
Miguel Aguila helped Albina to get up and helped her to remove all the snowflakes from her body with a soft voice:
-It’s a snow day. How can you go out alone? Where is Umberto?
At these words, Albina pursed her lips and whispered:
-We are divorced.
Michael was stunned for a moment. The hand that held her tensed violently:
-How can it be!
-He has someone he likes, so I can’t stay by his side.
Albina smiled with false relief, a smile that looked bitter in Michael’s pupils.
-I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have told you about Yolanda.
-It’s not like that!
Albina lifted her face to look at him. Her lovely eyes reddened:
-I thank you for telling me. If it weren’t for you, I’d still be in the dark, foolishly acting as someone else’s mobile blood bank. It’s a good thing I’m divorced now and won’t have to transfuse blood in the future.
Miguel looked at her as he tried to sketch a smile. Somehow his heart suddenly soured as he brushed the freshly fallen snow out of her hair.
-Yes, that’s right. There will be no more blood transfusions in the future.
When Umberto found Albina, he happened to see the image of Michael touching the girl’s hair. He fixed his gaze on the hand on top of Albina’s head with a dark and penetrating intention.
He knew that man. He was Albina’s family doctor who had treated her eyes for three years.
Seeing the way he was getting intimate with Albina, like a man, Umberto could naturally realize that his attitude towards Albina was not straightforward. Anger arose immediately.
-Albina! -shouted Umberto, who was about to go and interrupt the two when his cell phone suddenly rang.
He was standing up, it was Mrs. Santangel calling him. It rang insistently.
Umberto picked it up:
-Mom, what’s wrong?
Mrs. Santangel’s anxious voice came from the other end of the line:
-Umberto, go back and take a look. Yolanda has suddenly fainted…..
Umberto frowned fiercely and cast a deep glance in Albina’s direction. With Mrs. Santangel’s constant insistence in his ears, he could only leave her and go back the way he had come.
She already had one by her side, so nothing should happen to her.
Albina vaguely heard Umberto’s voice. Her long eyelashes fluttered as she tugged on Michael’s sleeve. Her voice carried a vague hope:
-Umberto is here? I heard his voice.
Miguel looked at Umberto’s anxious back and coolly turned up the corners of his lips:
-No. It’s too windy. You have made a mistake.
The moment these words came out, the hope on Albina’s face disappeared in an instant.
She laughed embarrassedly and bit her lower lip hard. It was true that she gave all her heart and all her attention to Yolanda. How could she come to meet her?
-Where are you going? I’ll come with you.
Miguel put Albina’s luggage in the trunk, took her hand to sit on the passenger side and helped her to fasten her seat belt.
Albina hesitated for a moment and said the name of a residence.
Miguel started the car directly and drove her to the entrance of the residence. He pulled the trunk with one hand and helped Albina with the other:
-Which building do you live in? I’ll walk you there!
-Don’t bother! -Albina shook her head, “I’ll go up by myself. You should have business to do at the hospital. You’ve already taken too long for me.
-Are you really all right on your own? -Miguel was uneasy.
Albina held the suitcase and nodded vigorously:
-Yes. I’m fine.
Miguel watched her insist, slowly pulling the suitcase towards the residence.
When she reached her destination, Albina stood in front of the door and took a deep breath, knocking on the door.
-Who is it?
A warm female voice was heard from the door.
After three years, hearing this familiar voice again, Albina felt she could not speak. she wanted to cry and could not utter a sound for a long time.
The door opened and the woman froze for a moment at the sight of Albina.
The girl’s voice trembled as she cried out:
-Mom, it’s me…
The voice came out as if a hidden button had been pushed. Mrs. Thorn instantly awoke from her daze. Red-eyed, she pushed her hard like a madwoman.
-What are you doing here! Get out. Go away. I don’t want to see you!
Albina was immediately pushed to the ground. The back of her head hit the ground hard. Her mind went dizzy for a moment.
However, she didn’t mind the unpleasantness. She picked up the suitcase next to her and stood up. She looked in her mother’s direction and gently reassured her.
-Mom. It’s all right. Calm down. I’m leaving. I’m leaving soon.
Three years ago, when the sad news about her father came, her mother was so stimulated that she had developed an intermittent mania. Normally she was a normal person, but when she saw her, she would have a fit.
Albina knew that her mother was upset to see her and had nowhere to vent her bitterness. For fear of irritating her, Albina held back her thoughts and dared not see her for three years, letting Umberto call her every time on the phone to hear her voice greedily and attentively at her side.
Now that she was desperate, her mother was the only person she could think of. But three years later, he couldn’t stay to irritate her when she hadn’t overcome her trauma.
She watched her daughter hurriedly pull her suitcase, covered in misfortune, which she was preparing to leave.
Mrs. Thorn’s eyes were red and her sanity returned for a moment. Tugging at it with her dry fingers, tears flowed down her face relentlessly:
-Albina, I’m sorry….. I went crazy again and hurt my darling. I’m sorry…
