Eva’s profile had already changed and nipping her lips in pain, she decided not to tell or say anything. Duke knew that he was going to be done for what he had just said but it was not the appropriate moment for him to tell his mother about Eva and he had to make an effort to give in his best to convince her that, what she was thinking was not actually what is happening.
“sweetheart, hope you are not angry about what I said to my mom”, he asked walking back towards Eva but with a sad look and tears formed in her eyes, she said that she was okay. Pulling herself on the bed and arranging her headrest, she laid her rest on it while her heartbeat inside of her chest.
Thinking to herself that maybe she must have made a mistake by trusting that Henry could love a girl like her wholeheartedly, she felt tears dropping from her eyes and making their way into the pillow where her head was laid off.
Henry noticed how sad and quiet she had begun thinking all sorts of things and did not know whether to believe in his love or not.
“If he loves me like he says he does, why did he have to lie to his mother about being with me?”, she asked herself wondering what all that could mean.
The night has been good and the morning as well had begun nicely, but everything was ruined just that single call.
” Could it be that he is a mommy’s boy?”, she questioned herself more but with no possible answers. Eva was conscious of what she was feeling inside and she could not withstand a tithe heartbreak like the previous one that she had experienced.
“Calm down and listen to me”, Henry spoke out softly as he approached Eva but she swiveled her body, to face the other side facing the wall and with a deep breath she said softly,
” It is okay Henry, I gave attention to you very clearly and I can comprehend that you are shame to tell your mom that you are dating someone like me so just go”.
Henry was shattered as he was aware that, the words he had used were going to hurt her a lot but he had his purposes for saying them as he had a plan at the back of his mind. Trying further to touch her as he extended his right hand reaching for her shoulder, Eva controlling herself repeated what she had said some moments ago but with a deeper voice
He could feel it from her voice that she was already crying and not wanting to make her angry any further, he said,
“I will leave now but not because you are sending me away but just to let you Calm down first”, and his words came out with so many emotions that Eva held her chest and let out some more tears.
When Henry had left the ward, she turned back her body, looking at the door and asking herself why she had to come out from a struggling background. Her parents had died and left them which made things very tough too as she had to protect her little ones.
Sometimes, she felt like she did not deserve to be happy as everything about her was mostly thwarted by either physical factors or social wise.
Crying deeply with her eyes hurting as she wiped them, she felt like her heart was going to come out, and thinking about her friend, she wished only for one thing, and which was to go back home.
Thinking about home, she felt a sharp pain as she became bothered about where she was going to stay with her siblings and haven’t thought of that for some time, she began reckoning about it as they were all the has and she had to take a new leaf in her life to get a job and to rent a place for them to live together again.
Eva was not worried about their safety as she was aware that, they were living at Bethany’s house, and knowing how good her friend and her family are, she felt comfortable because her sisters are well cared for.
Understanding that she could not work for Henry anymore as it was better to avoid him completely so as not to be hurt in the future, she was determined to be a fighter than she was before.
” Wake up sleepy head”, Duke spoke up as he tapped her gently so as not to make her jump up in fear. Bethany was enjoying her sleep as she turned from side to side on the bed, feeling the softness of the mattress that was far better than hers.
Not wanting to wake up, Duke kept on looking at her and laughing as he could not believe his eyes. Wondering whether that was how she sleeps in her own house, he looked at how scattered the bed was and imagining that the calm method did not work, he agreed on letting it out again but this time he said it aloud,
“Wake up Bethany”, and she jumped out of the bed in fear. Duke sat on the bed and watch her jump out laughing out at the top of his voice at the scenario that had just taken place right before his eyes.
Bethany who was still making an effort to understand what was going on as she was catching up with her great that seems to leave her, she asked,
” What happened, I listened to someone screaming”. Her words came out and Duke could not hold himself from laughing out more. He had never seen anything so funny in his life and concluding that Bethany was a very funny person to be with, he said,
“I can not believe that you sleep like a baby, and you always play tough outside”.
Bethany then realized that she must have behaved badly during her sleep and making an effort to defend herself, she said that it was not true as she is a full-grown woman.
Duke was not the talkative type but in just some moments of being with someone, he could tell who the person is actually, and from what he had observed about Bethany since the previous day, it was that she is the most innocent girl that he had ever come across.
Her many of behaving, talking, and even sleeping justified it all. When she is in public, she turns to scare people with the attitude that she has built for herself but deep down, she is just an innocent girl who just wants to be free and happy.
He had never had any woman make him laugh so much and Bethany noticing how quiet with his eyes focused on her, looked at herself again to find out if anything was wrong with her body.
The bit being able to take it she raised a question,
” What are you looking at sir Duke?”.
He did not answer but rather, he maintained that devilish smile that made Bethany froze as he gazed at her some more having nutty thoughts run through his mind just by seeing her standing there and thinking back to all the thing’s that had come to pass the previous night.
Walking from the other side of the bed, she heads forth to the bathroom to clean up her face and brush her teeth before coming out again. When she was done, she came back and passing through the room to go kitchen to go take some water, she felt a sharp pain on her forehead and almost passed out as she held her head.
Duke who was looking at her, noticed it and immediately rushed to hold her so that she will not fall. Gaining her stamina, she told him not to bother as she is fine.
“Are you sure you are okay?”, Duke ask further wanting to be sure before letting go of her and Bethany’s eyes meeting he’s, she nodded in agreement to his question, as she confirmed that she is fine.
Walking into the kitchen to check whether there was anything else to do apart from cleaning the plates, she came back into the room to put in order the bed and her eyes paste through the window and she could see how bright the day was.
Listening to Duke ask her what her plans for the day are she answered without looking at him that firm the hospital, she was going to see Eva. Putting into it she said that if she is to be discharged when she was going to take her back home.
Duke let out a smile asking whether she wished to place a call across to her and she accepted but after pausing for some seconds, Bethany shook her head as she told Duke that she doesn’t think it was necessary to do that since she was leaving anyway for the hospital.
She had taken down the pillows after saying that and Duke confused about what she was doing, asked why she was disseminating the pillows on the couch and.
” I want to strain up the bed as that is the first thing I always do in the morning as soon as I step down before doing any other thing”, she mumbled taking out the bedsheets. Duke in a state of shock, rushed to stop her but Bethany being stubborn halted him halfway as she told him not to stop her because he will say that the cleaners will do it.
“Sir Duke, sorry I mean Duke, I love to tidy up my mess and I love to see everything clean and properly arranged”, Bethany spoke out as she went on with what she was doing.
Duke was so amazed by what was just going on and not being able to stop her, he just stood there while he watched her do her thing. After she was done with the bed, she walked past him asking whether he will like to have breakfast or eat something outside as he will be heading home to go to work.
Duke let out a smile at how caring and hardworking she is, said softly that he will not be able to go to work today as he had someone to meet with and also, he has to get back home.
Bethany feeling curious as to know whether he was going to meet but a male or female, asked in an indirect way who he was going to meet with and Duke understanding that she was feeling jealous, replied,
” No one out there can be more important than you babe”, and his words made her feel more secure.
The doctor came in and Eva was not doing okay as she was crying out her eyes, having a grudge against Bethany, she bizarrely looked at Eva, and asking why she was crying out, she said,
“I presume you are crying because of Henry”.
Eva raising her eyes and noticing the tone had changed, she ignored her but rather asked when she was going to be discharged and Carol laughed out letting out,
” Ignoring my question was not going to make you look tough but I could tell you a lot of things about the man that you think that you are in love with as you can not deny it because it is written all over you”.
Eva threw another gaze at her and wondering why she was trying to interfere in her business, she still repeated the same question that she had asked her before.
Carol walked around and seeing how serious Eva is, she told her that she was to be discharged that day and that she had signed all of her discharged papers it is just left for her to endorse as well.
