Nate’s POV
Her words stung so bad, why did she have to love that bastard that’s cheating on her anyway?
I considered telling her the truth about Rex but I also knew that she’d be angry, she does love Rex, and, from how she just said it, I don’t stand a chance.
” Okay,” I said and she got up and headed for her room.
” Also, please don’t kiss me or touch me seductively or I just might not help you with your therapy,” she said, I could tell that she was being playful but I couldn’t play along. I just got up and entered my bathroom for a shower. When I heard her shut my door, I punched the wall and sustained a minor injury.
“Why can’t I have the girl ” I muttered in frustration as I took my bath.

It’s been three days since Tiffany’s kidnap, the police haven’t found her yet. I had been getting really worried since Tory- my distraction was completely avoiding me.
They had just come back from school – detective Mason said I shouldn’t leave the house so I stayed back watching TV and eating chicken that I HAD to share with Trudy.
They all came back at the same time and were laughing as they entered the house. Toni and Tia had reconciled over the whole pregnancy matter – which I honestly found hilarious, so both of them were in a good mood.
Mrs. Williams had convinced Tia to at least finish the semester so that she could graduate so she was in her uniform. I glanced at them as they all entered, Tory ignored me and went upstairs while her sisters plopped by my side on the couch. That earned them a growl from Trudy.
” What’s up, Natty boy!” Toni said before she ate my cheese. She and I had also cleared up the awkwardness that was between us since I technically cheated on her and was using her to get rid of Penny. The girl never ceased to amaze me, when I tried to apologize she laughed and said she didn’t care, she only dated me for what she’d get in return – I still don’t know what she got in return though.
” Could you stop calling me that?” I said with a sigh and Trudy growled yet again.
” Behave Trudy he’s not your mate!” Tia scolded and Trudy got up from the chair and ran upstairs probably to meet Tory.
” You just chased my girlfriend away,” I said sarcastically and they laughed.
” Why are you so pouty Nate?” Tia asked and I rolled my eyes at her. They both knew I had the hots for Tory and have been taunting me about it.
” You know, I think she deserves better,” Toni said with a smirk and I glared at her.
” So I’m not good enough for her? That’s what you’re saying?”
” Chill Nate, I mean that Rex isn’t good enough for her”
” What?” I asked surprised at what she’d said.
” Didn’t you always say you want Tory and Rex to be together?” I asked and she shook her head.
” Not when he’s cheating on her” Toni said with a disapproving look on her face.
“Okay, first of all, how do you know this?”
” Doesn’t matter. This is your chance, Nate. You could win Tory’s heart after all”
” Does Tory Know?”
They shook their heads.
” That’s why you have to tell her that Rex isn’t over his ex,” Toni said with a murderous glare on her face as she ate more chips.
” Wait, why do you guys think I’d be better for Tory,” I asked as I shifted uncomfortably on the couch.
” Nate, you’re in love with her. Rex isn’t duh” Tia said with an eye roll.
” Plus I see the way you two look at each other. Tory likes you too but she’s probably feeling unnecessary guilt about it since she’s still dating that idiot.”
” I can’t tell her about Rex though”
” Why not?”
” She’s starting to warm up to me a little, I’m not going to ruin that by annoying her when I tell her that the love of her life is cheating on her”
” Well -”
Tia was interrupted when their mom entered the house with two men – the detective and his assistant Bill.
” Welcome mom” they both chorused.
” Thanks, girls. Nate, how are you?”
” I’m fine ma’am,” I said and she sat down on the couch opposite us, while the two men sat on another. Bill gave me a weary look and I smirked, I had given him quite a tough time the other day.
” Nate they have some information about your mother,” Mrs. Williams said and I looked at them expectantly.
” Your mom is currently in the hands of a mafia group lead by Big – D.,” Detective Mason said
” Big – D? Wasn’t it him who killed dad?” Tia asked her mom and she nodded.
” Nate don’t mention this to Tory, she doesn’t know”
I was about to nod when Tory drew our attention to herself as she cleared her throat.
” Too late mom, besides, it’s not like I can go fight the man or anything like that”
” I’m sorry Tory”
” Mom it’s fine,” Tory said with a small smile as she tucked her golden blond hair and stole a glance at me.
” Why do they have her?” I asked bringing us back to the issue at hand.
” This might come as a surprise but it seems she had something that belongs to Big D.”
” Like what?”
” Listen, we did some digging and found out that your mom is from a royal family right?” I nodded as I stared at detective Mason expectantly.
” She was supposed to be married to someone her family approved of but instead she had an affair and got pregnant with you”
” I know this detective”
” I don’t,” Mrs. Williams said completely appalled, ” she never talked about her family!”
” Because she was hiding her identity. ” Bill said and everyone glanced at him.
” Your mom later found out that your father was a Mafia member, provoking your father who told her that since she knew about them, she’d have to live with the mafia group. Your mother being a spoiled young lady couldn’t imagine living with criminals so she ran away and moved to a new city in London.”
” But your father kept tracking her and threatened to kill her if she didn’t come back and join the group. So your mother decided to disguise herself by having surgery done to alter her looks. This is your mother’s picture when she lived in her family’s Manor” detective Mason said handing me the picture, Mrs. Williams got up to take a look.
” She’s a redhead?” I asked no one in particular as I scanned her picture. She had green eyes just like mine and her face was chubbier and round, her lips were thinner unlike how full it was now.
” She changed everything about herself!” I said in disbelief.
” And her name too, check the back of the photo”
I checked the back and read out ” Jane Kelly Mowry ?”
” Oh my God, she never said anything to me,” Mrs. Williams said and I dropped the photo as I tried to understand all this.
” Nate, calm down” Tory said as she squatted in front of me.
” How can I calm down?” I said weakly, all my life I never knew that her life was in danger just because she was carrying me in her womb. Mr. Roswell had told me about some Mafia groups that when a member impregnates someone who could compromise their secrecy they killed the mother and took the child.
She must’ve been going through a lot, she must’ve been scared, no wonder she couldn’t love me. My very existence had made her lose everything.
” Your father has been looking for you since then Nate and now they’ve found you”
” But how?” Tory asked.
” We don’t exactly know but I think Nate’s striking resemblance to the man was a contributing factor”
” Why are they so obsessed with him? It’s not like Nate knows anything that can compromise their secrecy” Toni said.
” In Big D’s group, anyone born to a member belongs to him,” detective Mason said.
” And the fact that he’s your father doesn’t help matters” he added as he looked at the floor, fear written on his face.
” Big D is my father?” I asked, completely stunned.
” Yeah, he lead the rest members to rebel against their former boss, killing him gruesomely. Nate, he’s not someone to be messed with”
Wow, didn’t that just make my day a WHOLE LOT BETTER? To know that my bio dad is a killer.
