The day was approaching evening when she decided to execute her plan.
Izzy wasn’t sure if it was much of a plan but she knew Annie was taking a walk with Alex who had begun to feel better after a few days. It was the perfect time to go to Annie’s individual room and search for her mother’s journal.
With small hope and nervousness running through her veins, she quietly stalked the castle to the exterior of Annie’s room. Quickly looking around, Izzy finally accepted that she was safe so far and entered the premises of the room.
Annie’s room was almost an exact replica of Alex’s newer bedchamber, both lavished with expensive decoration and regal settings. Izzy took this all in but in her head she was scanning the place efficiently, not wasting time.
Almost too easily, Izzy saw her mother’s journal sitting on top of several other books on Annie’s desk. Izzy’s heart sped as she neared it. What was in there that would make Annie steal it?
Her hands touched the old leather and she took it in her hands and turned it around. Carefully, as if it might break, she opened the journal to a page that was already marked with a fountain pen. Curiously Izzy began ready the entry.
Diary,
I am on the run again back to my kingdom. This time Marge is unable to come with me. The daughter I had given life to is now in the hands of Marge and my blessing on my daughter’s head. I know she will be beautiful even if I was with her for no longer than ten minutes.
To make everything easier for John, I had faked my own death and ran away. I will miss him dearly as I had learned to love him. I have no regrets of my actions despite my status of a married woman but a forced marriage with Henry was inevitable. My love for John would be last forever.
My time to be united with my daughter, Anastasia will be something I am looking forward to but I am also scared of Henry. I never know what he is up to but I know I am smarter than that.
I have brought a dead infant child with me. Another maid has lost her child just two days before I had my daughter and with a genuine explanation of my identity did the mother finally give me permission. The bloody child will be my evidence and I will be back with Anastasia very soon.
-Marissa
It had taken her fifteen minutes to get the feel for the words and let them form in her head but after she was done, she wondered if she had read it correctly. Denial washed over her and she was literally frozen in place, a mixture of horror and shock coursing through her body.
Prince Anastasia was her blood sister? Was this really her mother’s journal? She was dubious.
Suddenly, tears fell from her face and a sudden anger washed over her. Her mother and Marge had kept this away from her. How could they leave such important information secret from her? She wouldn’t have had to live this life if it was revealed that she was a true princess. Izzy shuddered. The thought of being a real princess seemed unrealistic.
Right then Izzy didn’t know what to feel. She didn’t know who to be mad at and who to take revenge upon. Was she really meant to be a bodyguard or a princess? All her life she thought her destiny was to guard and protect but now that thought seemed to be fake and full of lies. The hurt was insurmountable and she felt numb.
Knowing that she didn’t have much time left, she shook the harsh feeling and quickly turned to the last page.
Diary,
It is Maliki’s seventh birthday and the celebration was beyond amazing. Despite Henry’s distaste for me, I sitll count it as a blessing to have Maliki in my world. I know Henry only welcomed me back because of the rumors that had been spreading in the kingdom. We lied that I was sick for a year and they were dubious but once they saw my face, their doubts had disappeared.
I am hesitant around Henry now and I know for a fact that he had used me to obtain a son who could rule his kingdom after his death. The dreams are not helping with the situation.
Yesterday, he told me that he had yet another dream. This time our son, Maliki, would make Henry kill me. He was angry as he was frightened in murdering someone. I assured him that his vision would not happen as it had not happened previously. That seemed to settle him down but I know he plans to kill Maliki.
I am planning to run away with Maliki, back to John’s kingdom. I would risk my life again if I could save Maliki. Marge has sent me a letter each year on Isabelle’s birthday, telling me how much she had grown up. John had named her and I adored the name as if I had chosen it myself. Marge tells me that she is beautiful but I want to see her for myself. If I run away I could see my daughter again.
For now it is only a plan but I will entrust this information with Marge. I plan to send this to her in hopes that if all does not go well, that my daughter will know the truth of her birth and the royal blood that runs within her veins.
