Natasha’s P. O. V.
I stared as the leggy blonde untangled herself from my fiancé. Wait a minute! My fake, pretend fiancé. Of course she had to be gorgeous. I saw Jude’s startled face and then a warm smile on it and he hugged her back tightly. I felt like I couldn’t breath. Then suddenly as if he had just realized that Joey and I were there he turned to look at us sheepishly.
“Natasha, come here!”
I was glad my shaking legs didn’t give me out and I could walk quiet firmly. I walked quickly with Joey to where Jude was standing.
“Monica”, he said turning to look at the blonde, “meet my fiancé Natasha and that’s her friend Joey.”
The girl just stared at me and suddenly squealed excitedly, “Oh come here.” And pulled me into a tight hug.
“I am Jude’s cousin! We grew up together! And I find out now that he has a fiancé! Seriously Jude?” she turned to glare at her brother. I let out a breath that I didn’t realize I had been holding.
“Yeah Jude! Seriously?” I said enjoying Jude’s discomfort.
Jude gave me a glare before he turned to smile at Monica. “Sorry Sis. I was bringing her to the country next week so, I thought the whole family could meet her then.”
“The whole family?!” I yelled. The others turned to look at me as if I had lost my mind. I smiled and blushed and lowered my voice and said, “I just thought we are meeting your parents!.” Before Jude could say anything Monica beat him to it.
“Natasha you have tamed the wild horse of the family. Of course everyone wants to meet you!”
Everyone laughed at that, though Jude’s and mine seemed a little forced. Oh yeah, he and I had a lot to talk about when we reached home. Soon everyone said their good byes and we left.
As soon as we put our seat belts on, I turned to Jude and said, “Care to explain?”
Jude’s P. O. V.
I knew I was in major trouble as I saw Natasha glaring at me in the car. I stalled a little as I backed the car out of the parking lot.
I cleared my throat and said, “Natasha erm I was going to tell you-”
“When? When were you going to tell me Jude? When we were at your home with your parents and your family waiting for their son’s bride to be to arrive?” I winced at the hysterical tone in her voice, she was not going to let me off easily.
Besides, that had exactly been my plan but when Monica showed up I had to pacify Monica as well or else she would get equally hysterical with me. I realized that Natasha had been waiting for my answer and thought that I would improvise.
“Natasha I was going to tell you tonight or latest by tomorrow.” She still stared at me and finally decided to let go.
She sighed and said, “ok. Its just that I feel terrible lying to all these people. You know Joey was so happy for me and she totally began planning our future for us. She said that she could totally imagine me having gorgeous kids with you.” She said with a smile.
I looked at her and I had to smile. “Oh yeah. Totally gorgeous girls with flaming red hair and beautiful green eyes.”
Natasha laughed softly and said, “Actually I’d prefer cute boys with dirty blonde hair and mischievous blue eyes.”
I started laughing and suddenly caught myself wondering, what it would be to actually start a family with Natasha. I could imagine running around the pool with my sons and spoiling my daughter rotten. Surprisingly, I liked the image in my head.
“SOooooooooo you think I have mischievous eyes huh?” I laughed as Natasha blushed a deep red.
The rest of the drive home was silent. We reached home and quickly changed. It had been a long day and when I thought about it, I really enjoyed dissing Stephanie and Nick. I sat on the couch as Natasha went for a shower and remembered that awful day.
*Flashback*
Jude’s P. O. V.
I knew I shouldn’t have had that lobster last night! I woke up in the morning to see a smiling Stephanie bring me coffee. “Thanks babe!” I smiled and pecked her lips. “You are welcome.” She said.
“I don’t feel too well. I feel a little queasy.”
She was reading the paper and didn’t even look up as she said, “Take something for it.”
I looked at her and frowned. Of late she seemed to be a little aloof and uninterested in everything. She used to be so much fun when I met her. These days she didn’t want to do anything together! I smiled as I thought about the coming weekend. I had planned a secret vacation to Venice for the both of us. I was pretty sure it would make her happy and whatever was bothering her could be forgotten. I showered quickly and dressed and rushed out while giving her a kiss on her forehead.
She wasn’t going to work today. I drove quickly as I didn’t want to be late. I was still doing my internship and my boss didn’t care that I was the son of one of the greatest architect in the world. This by the way was the reason that I joined this firm. I hated anyone treating me special because of my dad. I wanted to make my own identity. I went in and picked up all my stuff from my table and went to my supervisor’s office.
I was assisting him in designing a famous singer’s dream home. I can’t give out the name but she was a b#@#h! She kept mocking all the plans we came up with. After working continuously for 36 hours she had approved a room for her pet dog! Dog I ask you? Seriously? There should be a special place in hell for such snobs! We had been working on this project since a month and all she had approved was her dog’s room.
Predictably my supervisor Jack was in a bad mood. I was glad I had picked up a latte for him on my way in . He looked up from the mass of papers on his table at me. Ah! He had spent the night in office. He looked at me miserably.
“You know Jack I think you should let your apartment for rent. You hardly ever stay there!” Jack gave me a dirty look and I snickered. “Ha ha Jude. You are a funny guy.”
I smirked and said, “So has the she devil approved anything else yet?”
Jack groaned and looked almost close to tears “Nooo. She hasn’t! She keeps changing her mind everyday! The moment she tells us she wants something and we deliver she decides she doesn’t want it anymore!”
I nodded sympathetically. I was suffering with him as well.
“What does she want now?” He looked up and said, “She wants her living room in an Egyptian theme.”
Suddenly I felt a spasm in my stomach and I clutched at it.
“What’s wrong?” asked Jack looking concerned. “I think that lobster I had last night was a bit off.” Jack smirked and opened his drawer and gave me a white tablet.
“That should take care of it.” I smiled at him gratefully and took it.
“So shall we get started?”
“Sure!”
“Don’t you want to go change or something? I mean you slept here last night!”
“you know what I think I will just go shower quickly in the firm’s showers.”
“What about clothes?”
“I will pick some from the departmental store across the street. It will save me the trip, besides I might just fall asleep while driving!”
I nodded and was about to start my laptop when Jack said, “I have a better idea!”
I looked at him. “I am running to the showers you just run across and pick something up for me. Here is my card. Pick something appropriate.”
I looked at him like he had lost his mind. Seriously? I had to go shopping for the boss? It was not mentioned in my job description. I sighed and picked up his card. I would just walk down to the store since it was just across the street.
I rushed in and picked up a white shirt and camel brown trousers quickly. Next I picked up some new socks and under wear. I was so tempted to buy a pair that had written WILD in red on it but I could not cross the line with my boss. I mean he may be friendly and all but he was kinda strict too. I went to the counter and as the cashier rang up my purchases I realized that I hadn’t picked up a towel. I quickly asked her for one and I was out of the shop in ten minutes flat!
I rushed back up and found Jack slumped in his chair snoring. I woke him up but not before I clicked a snap of him dozing on my phone. I grinned as he looked at me confused.
I held up the bag and realization dawned on his face. “Damn! I thought I would just rest for a while!” He grabbed the bag and rushed out, I shrugged and sat down. I was going to be a long day and maybe I would have to stay the night here.
