Twist of fate

Book:The Wingless Fairy (The Alpha's Luna) Published:2024-6-3

Jason ran like he was going crazy and embraced Ariella. He cared about nothing anymore or no one else.
How was she alive?
That didn’t matter anymore, what matters was that she was here with him now.
Daisy flew to Ariella and joined in the embrace. She had thought all hope was lost, but the creator was cooking something beautiful without her knowing.
Isabella stood afar, feeling unworthy to talk to Ariella. But she was so happy that Ariella was alive.
Jason no longer needed the result of the last test to be announced but, however, he collected the result from the laboratorian.
Jason dismissed everyone, and they went back to their various duties.
Jason carried Ariella in a bridal style, he didn’t want her to walk or stress herself. He was going to take care of her and keep her by his side.
Jacinta couldn’t believe her eyes. How was Ariella alive?
Ariella died!
The doctor confirmed it.
And she Jacinta also went to the morgue to see her body just to confirm Ariella was truly dead.
She saw Ariella’s dead body in the cold room, lying helpless.
How did this happen?
Jacinta couldn’t stand the reality of Ariella being alive, so she left angrily.
The doctor was invited to a meal with them.
In no time, food was served. The reason Jason didn’t fire the kitchen workers was that he wanted to observe and catch whoever the culprit was.
As a popular saying stated, “keep your friends close and your enemies even closer.”
“Sarah!” Jason called the chef, and she answered with a bow.
“Taste the food,” Jason instructed and without hesitation she tasted it before serving it into each one of them dishes.
Ariella was surprised at Jason’s actions, why was he asking her to taste the food before dishing it out?
Why would he employ her if he didn’t trust her?
To Ariella, the way Jason treated the chef was so demeaning, and she needed a good explanation for this.
“You were poisoned,” Daisy who has been quiet ever since spoke as though she sensed what Ariella was thinking.
“Poisoned? ” Ariella knew she died, but never knew she died of poison.
That meant the effects of the poison started a few minutes after she took lunch that day. Realization hit Ariella, so it was poison, who would want to poison her and why?
Daisy looked so lean because she had been starving for days. She looked so malnourished, weak, and Ariella knew it was because of her death.
Ariella felt terrible for making Daisy feel all alone with this cruel word.
Ariella also noticed that Isabella never said a word to her since she saw her.
Was she unhappy she was alive? Wasn’t she happy to see her?
Ariella felt hurt and said nothing, but it kept bothering her that Isabella acted that way.
Did she offend her?
Was she the cause of her death and was unhappy that she was alive?
No! Ariella shook her head negatively at those thoughts. Although Isabella was harsh to her, she didn’t seem like someone who had the mind to kill someone.
But on a second thought, her father told her she had plenty of enemies and needed to be careful.
Was Jason’s mother among the enemies?
Ariella prayed hard in her heart that at the end of everything, Isabella wouldn’t be found as one of her enemies.
Meanwhile, Isabella kept battling within her, she badly wanted to talk to Ariella, but she couldn’t bring herself to do that.
Guilt was eating her up. She badly wanted to embrace Ariella, but she didn’t know how Ariel would react to it.
Isabella was picking her food and Ariella noticed it.
“Are you okay, ma?” Ariella asked softly.
Isabella froze for a few seconds when the question was asked. She wasn’t expecting Ariella to speak to her, so it came to her as a shock.
Ariella’s eyes were now fixed on her expecting her reply, but she couldn’t speak, it felt as though her voice was ceased.
“Are you not happy to see me alive?” Ariella asked, already getting emotional. She just couldn’t contain it, she was hurt by Isabella’s actions.
“Wh… at, No… I mean… That’s not it,” Isabella stuttered, not knowing how to explain to Ariella that she was so happy to see her but felt so guilty of treating her bad those first times.
“I’m thrilled to see you, but I just feel so guilty,” Isabella spoke and broke down in tears.
Jason was puzzled. Guilty? Why did she feel guilty? Did his mother have a hand in Ariella’s death?
Jason was about to ask when his mother continued,
“I feel so unworthy of talking to you for treating so bad those first times. It took your death for me to finally realize how good a person you are.”
Ariella, who was seated on the left side of Isabella, took her hands and caressed it gently, comforting her.
“You were just looking out for your son, ma. You were only being a good mother, and I understand.”
“Really? You don’t hate me?” Isabella asked and Ariella nodded before embracing her.
Jason scoffed in disbelief, he just couldn’t believe his mother. She was always acting like a cute little teenage girl.
Meanwhile, the doctor kept eating his food and watched everything without interrupting.
His eyes were on Daisy since they started eating, he was attracted to her.
Her wings were so beautiful, and what even intrigued him more was how a fairy found herself in a place like his kingdom.
Fairy were a special kind of mystical beings whose existence were hidden from the rest of the world.
The doctor didn’t know how to explain it, but he felt this pleasure in him just by staring at Daisy.
Daisy caught the doctor staring at her severally and wondered why. Was it because she looked so malnourished?
What was he thinking? Was he making a mockery of her in his head?
“Stop staring!” Daisy yelled and hit the cutlery hard on the table while glaring hard at the doctor.
She was so uncomfortable with his stares.
She felt like she was being laughed at by him in his head.
Ariella wondered what was happening between those two.
The doctor felt so embarrassed. He wished the ground will open up and swallow him.
His cheeks became red from embarrassment, and Jason couldn’t help but chuckle lightly.
He saw how the doctor had been staring at Daisy since he saw her. It seemed the doctor was somehow attracted to Daisy.
Seeing his fellow man’s cheek turning red from embarrassment was funny.
“I think I should be on my way, I have somewhere else to be right now,” The doctor lied. Without waiting for any of their replies, he stood up and hurriedly left.
He had to leave before he would die of embarrassment.
“Ariel?” Jason called out softly with lots of emotions on his face.
“Yes?”
“It took your death for me to realize how much I couldn’t do without you. Everything felt so suffocating. I was unable to think straight. I died when you died. Not only that, but I just existed, but I wasn’t living. ”
“But, I’m glad that fate gave us another chance. I would rather not live life without you in it. I want you always by my side. I love you so much, Ariella, and I’ll let the whole world know. You are the one I truly love and no one else.”
“Please give me a chance to show you just how much I love you. Let’s make it official, baby.”
“Be my woman!”
Jason asked her out.
Ariella stood frozen.
This was like a dream to her. She knew he loved her, but she never imagined he was going to ask her out this way.
Jason had to ask her out, he would rather not wait until tomorrow, tomorrow might never come.
Jason was tensed as he anticipated her reply.
He prayed she won’t turn him down.
Ariella turned to look at Isabella seeking for approval.
Isabella understood and nodded positively. Jason was an adult, and he could make quality decisions for himself, so she was no longer going to step into his affairs.
“Yes, I’ll be your woman.”
“No, that can’t be!” Someone screamed, and they turned to see Susan standing behind them.
Susan came to confirm if Ariella was truly alive. Jacinta told her she saw Ariel, but she was in doubt.
Getting here, she meet the greatest shock of her life.
Her plans failed.
This was indeed a Twist of Fate.
