Ariella felt a sharp pain in her head when she woke up. She opened her eyes and saw that her room was crowed with numerous familiar people. Her father, who looked worried, paced around the room, none of them knew she was awake, they all looked pale.
She was confused. She couldn’t recall what happened. Why were the royal doctors here?
“Father!” She called out weakly. They all rushed closer to her after she spoke.
“Angel, thank goodness you are okay! I thought I lost you baby!” Sabastine said, full of relief. The doctors left after they checked her and confirmed she was now fine.
“What happened father? What am I doing in here? I can’t seem to remember anything,” s
Arielle questioned her father after the doctors left.
“After you healed the little girl and brought back her hair. You went unconscious,” he explained calmly.
Her memory came flooding in, when she touched the little girl, she was transfigured into another world. She could only see herself and the girl.
They found themselves in a place so beautiful; it was crystal white and glittered. The energy eluding from that place was stronger than anything she ever felt in her life, even her body glowed like a diamond. She touched the girl’s head and her hair came. Suddenly, the little girl got separated from her by a wind, she tried to move and fly, but her legs were glued to the ground and her wings too heavy to fly. She struggled to be free, but after much trial, she eventually got weak and slumped.
“Where’s Tracy?” She asked, noticing the absence of her sister for the first time.
“Oh darling, Tracy went to fetch some herbs that would help you regain consciousness,” The king lied quickly. “But don’t worry honey, I am sure she will come see you soon,” he assured her.
He couldn’t tell her Tracy hadn’t come to see her since she went unconscious, it was going to hurt her badly. He was unable to afford to. He didn’t understand why Tracy became cruel to her sister. She used to be a loving, caring and protective older sister. What changed? What happened? He was unable to place a finger on it.
“Her majesty! Congratulations! You are now the talk of the town, I’m so proud of you.” Daisy, who had been silent all along, spoke, interrupting the King’s thought. Ariella and the king looked at her with questioning eyes.
“I mean your powers gave hair to a hairless girl, you literally made something that was irreparable whole again, that’s something to be proud of” Daisy explained, full of smile, with a look of pride.
“Oh my God! That’s absolute correct, Ariel. I am so proud of you!” King Sabastine applauded and kissed his daughter lightly on her cheek.
*******
Tracy paced around in her room angrily. She smashed the vase of flowers on her table to the wall. Ariella stole the spotlight again. Why did she always have to make her irrelevant to important people and in important events? Ariel power gave hair to a bald girl, that was the biggest display of magic she had ever seen. It only meant one thing; Ariella of a truth had what it took to snatch the throne from her. What was she going to do now?
An idea popped up in her head and she smiled evilly, yes! She was going to kill the little girl, then Ariel will be accused of using black magic. She couldn’t wait to execute her plans, she was super excited and as for Ariella she prayed she never wakes up. Furthermore, she disguised herself and secretly flew out of the palace. Not only that, but she couldn’t let people know it was her who killed the girl if she eventually killed her.
Tracy asked for direction from the few fairies she met. She finally got to the place and behold! It was an empty land. Were those fairies trying to get on her nerves? Why would they give her a wrong address? But she had asked different fairies at different locations, and they all gave the same direction. A fairy flew past her, and she called out to her.
“Erm, please, I need directions to the little girl’s house that got her hair back a few days ago.”
“Oh miss! You are right in front of the house,” the fairy told her and continued her journey.
Tracy was beyond shocked, she was right in front of a very empty land and yet people kept telling her it was the girl’s house. She asked two more people who flew past her the same questions, and they gave the same answer.
At first, Tracy thought she was hallucinating, but after much thought, she came to a conclusion that the house was visible to others but invisible to her. A strong power was protecting the occupants of the house from her. She moved closer to the house and felt a strong force that almost threw her unbalanced. Ariella was still at home unconscious, yet she couldn’t see the house or access it. Someone powerful was obviously protecting both the parties.
Tracy got home and saw the dinning table was set. She sat down and started eating without waiting for the King. She was so hungry. She got the shock of her life when her father appeared alongside with her sister. Her sister looked very sound and healthy, she was disappointed. She never wanted Ariella to come out of unconsciousness, she wanted her to die.
Ariella who was delighted to see Tracy, gave her a sweet smile, but Tracy rolled her eyes and looked away.
Ariella wanted to ask Tracy why she wasn’t by her side when she woke up but kicked against it. She knew her sister wasn’t beside her because she was engaged in perfecting her powers, she knew how obsessed her sister was with her magic. Just as she sat down to eat her meal, the great seer of their kingdom appeared from nowhere.
“Tragedy! Tragedy!! Tragedy!!! I see misfortune. I see betrayal. The kingdom shall be thrown into chaos, souls shall be lost, there shall be cries. Evil shall penetrate but only one who would be able to manipulate the four elements of power magic, being a water, fire, wind, and flower fairy shall overthrow evil.”
********
King sabastine had a worried look on his face, how could one manipulate the four elements at once? It wasn’t possible. One couldn’t be a water fairy and still be a fire fairy, the prophecy was crazy! The seer said he saw tragedy, that meant great evil was coming. He needed to do something, he needed to act fast. He couldn’t afford to be taken unawares, he will assign the highest trained soldiers and fairies to watch over the palace and the kingdom.
Furthermore, he placed an order that no one was to leave the kingdom or come in. But he was worried about Tracy, she was always sneaking out to only God knows where. She was going to disobey him, and he couldn’t let her get into trouble or get killed. He also feared for Ariella, she was softhearted just as her late mother, and the enemy could use her to destroy his kingdom. Ariella was fragile, her emotions could be easily used to get her.
His tummy rumbled loudly. He was unable to eat anymore after he heard the prophecy, and now he was famished. He was restless, he needed to check up on his daughters to see if they were fine. He stood up and left to Ariel’s room first, he found her sleeping soundly and unharmed. Furthermore, he went to Tracy’s room but got the shock of his life. Tracy wasn’t in her room at such an ungodly hour. Have the evil one abducted her? Where was she?
