Chapter 36

Book:Broken and Pregnant Published:2024-5-1

I saw myself laying on the hospital bed beside my father. The operation went well and I was glad that he was safe. I made a little stretch of my arms after getting up to check if he was awake. He moved his fingers and slowly opened his eyes. His gaze roamed within the four pillars of the white room until his eyes landed towards me. I set a smile on my face, a sign of relief and hope.
I sat beside him and hold his hands.
“Dad, don’t make so much movement, or else your stitch and operation might react!” I quickly scold him for moving his body.
“Where am I? Who are you?” My eyes widened in shock.
I need to confirm it myself. Dad doesn’t recognize me? No, wait, maybe it’s the effect of anesthesia they injected into him after the operation.
I look into his eyes and ask him again my name.
“It’s me, Lucy. Your daughter. Can you recognize me now?” I asked him again but his eyes seem like looking at the ceiling.
He’s not even listening to me. His expression was blank and cold. He tilted his head to think well what I just told him.
“Lucy? Who was Lucy? Who am I? Why I can’t remember my name?” I started to feel nervous. Dad started to screamed and grabbing his hair so hard so I quickly call the nurse for help.
“Please, my dad just woke up but he can’t recognize me! Why? Was the operation didn’t went well? Call Doc Fred!” I asked her. I was afraid to lose my father again. I am now alone and broken. If he loses his memory, it feels like I lost him.
They check his vitals and the nurse told me that everything is normal.
” Please calm down, ma’am. Let’s wait later to confirm his reaction. Maybe it’s the effect from his general operation.” She explained to me and I just nod my head and wait for him to regain his consciousness.

“Ma,’ am, I think today is our lucky day!” Brian called Eloisa while hiding himself under a doctor’s uniform sneaking outside Lucy’s father’s room.
Eloisa was with Austin while Kent was taking a shower.
She ambled near the window to ask him what’s his good news.
“Hurry, stop wasting my time! Did you kill him?” She asked him.
” I think no need to do that. I guess Lucy’s father had suffered amnesia!” He said and a grin came across Eloisa’s face.
” It feels like fate favors me!” She murmured with an evil look in her eyes.
Ten years ago
Raphael secretly called Mr. Stone to meet him to get the money offered by him for his daughter. After Kent left her, she always staying inside her room. She didn’t even eat or talk. It’s a tough time for her so her father decided to take the bait.
The street was empty like the place looks haunted. No signs of people walking in but only a pile of drums everywhere besides the roadway. This was the address and Rafael was sure of it. A gust of air puffs out from his thin and dry lips. His wrinkles that crossed all over his face became visible as he started to feel frustrated.
It’s winter and the only jacket he wore was the one his wife gave to him five years ago before she died. The freezing air can still immerse inside your skin. He rubbed both his hands and put them on his mouth to feel the warmth.
“Where are you, Mr. Stone?” He desperately mumbled with his shivering voice.
His trembled hands reach his pocket to get his phone. He will call him for confirmation that he did come. Mr. Stone’s phone keeps ringing but no one dared to answer his call. He’s becoming impatient while looking back and forth to the street and behind him.
Raphael suddenly realized that he’s being watched. He had goosebumps everywhere.
“Mr. Stone, are you in there? I’m cold to death so will you please come out!” His voice became loud which echoes in the whole vacant street.
Suddenly he heard a clapping of hands.
“Bravo! Bravo! I’m here Rafael. I’m glad you accepted my proposal.” Alexander went out behind the empty drums that were there ages ago.
Finally, Rafael felt a sudden solace when he showed up. It’s good for Mr. Stone because wearing animal fur made him feel comfortable even in this freezing weather.
“Where is it?” He didn’t want to have a long conversation since the collector is everywhere to find him. Maybe there were eyes around them.
Alexander slowly pulled the white envelope from his pocket. It’s an envelope he used to offer to Lucy yesterday but she refused to accept it so without her permission and knowledge, he made a deal with Kent’s dad.
“Here. I never thought you have a good eye when it comes to money, Mr. Mason!” He seems to mock Lucy’s dad the way he spoke after handing over the money to him.
