“Hehehe this man seems to be very romantic. He has decorated whole room with the flowers.”
“Hmmm I also saw the scented candles in the washroom.”
“How lucky she is.. to have a husband like him.”
“Hmm she seems to be very lucky to have such a a loving and caring husband.”
Both the cleaning ladies were seemed to be flattered by Augustus. Lisa heard it and thought “Did Augustus really did these things for me like being romantic and all? Is he trying to make me happy?” Lisa smiled and couldn’t help but kept blushing when she remembered last night with him although her eyes were closed but she could clearly felt the passion he had for her.
“Ahhh… I don’t understand one thing. Why Mr. Lester told us to keep their marriage as a a secret?”
“Hmm I also felt weird about it.”
“Hah… you know these days the rich people sometimes married women temporary to keep their image clean from being a mistress.”
“Ssssshh you mean that madam could be.”
“Quiet now..! You will get me in trouble if some one heard it. Do your work fast.”
Lisa felt bitter in her heart while hearing those words. All blushing and smiling gone instantly. She was very much overwhelmed by the way Augustus welcomed her to his home like it’s her own and she had also begun thinking that he might have feeling for her but now she realized that it was totally an act, he just needs her body to satisfy himself.
According to her, she felt like a mistress with a marriage certificate on it. “No matter what I will leave Augustus as soon as I can.” Lisa said to herself determinedly.
She then took a deep breath and walked into the kitchen. “Done unwrapping?” She asked them.
“Yes Madam.” Both answered.
Lisa than sent both of them to the bedroom for cleaning. She wasn’t in the mood to face both of them. She was feeling a bit angry after hearing their insulted words for her.
She then busied herself in finding a vase. Luckily, she found 4 vases, she then filled the vase with water and flower food. She then cut the stems diagonally under running water. She also removes the leaves below the water line. She then put the flowers in the vase.
She kept two vases on the table in the living room and two in the bedroom at the both side tables.
She then washed her face, put on some makeup, took a coat and a handbag from the closet. She then went down knocked on the study door, Augustus opened the door and he was wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. Whenever he wears casual clothes he looks more handsome and young. Lisa stared at him but then quickly regained her senses back “when did he change?” She thought to herself.
“Ready to go?” Lisa asked.
“Yes” Augustus answered.
Both walked out of the apartment and went straight to the underground parking lot. Augustus took Lisa’s hand and instead of going to his car he walked to the other direction.
Soon, a well-dressed man in a suit greeted Augustus respectfully and handed him a small box with a bow on it and left.
While Lisa was confused of what’s happening Augustus handed her the small box.
“What’s this?” Lisa asked.
“It’s your birthday present. Open it.” Augustus said with excitement in his eyes.
Lisa opened it with curiosity and found out that it was a key. She looked at the key in a daze just then Augustus stepped aside revealing her birthday present.
Lisa gasped in surprise. “This..!”
“It’s yours now.” Augustus smiled.
Lisa looked at him surprisingly. It was a Mini Cooper in pepper white color.
Looking at her shocked expression, Augustus asked worriedly. “You don’t like it?”
“Hmm… no I mean yes I like it but don’t you think it’s a bit late now for the birthday present.” Lisa asked hesitantly.
“Well… I thought of giving you at that time but I knew you would refused so now as your husband, you can’t refuse my gift right?” He said to her domineeringly.
“But it’s not app…”
“It is very much appropriate to give my wife a gift.” He snapped cutting her off.
Lisa still tried to refuse but the next moment Augustus deliberately said, “If you don’t drive now, you will get late for meeting Simon.” He then calmly walked towards the car and sat in the passenger seat.
Lisa also walked to the car without wasting anytime and sat on the driver’s seat.
“Thank you Augustus. I liked it very much.” She politely thanked him, she knew she can’t turn him down now but after divorce she won’t keep anything of him with her even if it was a tiny little thing. She made up her mind.
“Well, thank me tonight for this.” Augustus leaned closer to her and said flirtatiously.
Lisa’s face turned red by his words and she lowered her head to avoid eye contact with him. Augustus smiled at her and calmly leaned back on his seat.
Lisa started the car and drove away on the road. She tried to focus on driving while her mind was still lingering with his words. She was already feeling weak from the last two times, tonight God knows what he has in his mind as thanking him?. She felt chill all over her body thinking about it. It felt like this man had really scared her with his sexual abilities.
While on the other hand, Augustus was feeling happy and relieved that she liked the first gift from him given to her.
Lisa drove car very carefully and focused on the road. After a while, she stopped in front of a small bakery. She then unbuckled her seat and said, “I’ll be back in a minute.”
“I’ll come with you.” Augustus said while unbuckling his seat belt. Lisa knew she couldn’t refuse him so she simply nodded her head.
They both went together in a small bakery, Lisa than took two candies bag. She went to the counter to pay just then Augustus took out his card to pay but soon he realized that it was a small bakery they probably don’t use cards. They only take cash.
Lisa stepped forwards and hurriedly handed the money to the cashier. Augustus felt angry but he didn’t say anything.
Both went to the car. As soon as they sat Augustus said in a sneered, “You brought me here to insult me? By paying yourself..!” There was a hint of ridicule in his tone.
“Umm no.. no you misunderstood actually there candies are very nice they made it with real butter and kids like it very much.” Lisa explained him.
“You should have asked me before I could get Lester to bring these candies. Why you come here yourself?” He asked still not believing her words.
“Actually these are for kids from me as a Epiphany’s present.” Lisa answered him.
Epiphany is the huge festival celebrated in Italy 12 days after Christmas. It is the time when people remember the Wise Men (also sometimes called the Three Kings) who visited Jesus.
Some churches celebrate use Epiphany to celebrate the Jesus’s Baptism.!
In Italy, some children also get their presents on Epiphany. But they believe that an old lady called “Befana” brings them. Children put stockings by the fireplace for Befana to fill. Befana gave candies to good children and coal to the bad children.
Augustus looked confused.
“The feast of the Epiphany.” Lisa explained looking at his confused look.
“But today is not 6th of the month it’s 4th.” Augustus told her.
“Hmmm yes I know but I get to meet him only Saturdays. So that’s why I will give him the candies today. By the way, the other packet is for Maria.” Lisa said to him pointing at the pink color packet.
“Oh you brought for her too..! Do you think I cannot afford it?” Augustus sneered he is still pissed on her for not letting him pay.
“Well… I saw you didn’t bring anything with you so I bought it for you to give this to her.” Lisa explained nervously while scratching her nose.
Well that is true, this time Augustus had already forgotten about the Epiphany present for Maria maybe he was too occupied with his work or with Lisa coming over at his home. He felt a bit guilty but he didn’t show her instead he retorted. “So you’re saying I am a bad father.”
“No… no.. you’re not.” Lisa said quickly.
“You better not.” Augustus said angrily then he folded his arms and looked outside.
Soon both arrived at the Hostel. Augustus guided Lisa to the secret entrance which was covered with bushes around it. At that time, Lisa understood how he met Maria every time secretly so no one can see him coming.
Lisa parked the car. Both got off and Lisa walked straight to see Simon but Augustus shouted behind, “Don’t you want to see Maria?”
Lisa stopped and turned, “No..! Now is not the good time I think I will meet her later.”
He felt a little disappointed but didn’t change his attitude and calmly said, ” okay I’ll meet you here after an hour.”
“Okay” Lisa nodded and left.
