“What about your mom.?” Augustus asked changing the topic.
“My father cheated on her. She couldn’t take it and passed away.” Her face twisted on mentioning of her mother and there was deep pain in her eyes.
Augustus sighed, “My father also died when he caught my mother with someone else.” He revealed unexpectedly.
Lisa frowned and looked at him. His face darkened, he looked sad and lonely. At this moment, she felt pity for him. Even money can’t buy happiness.
Both sighed sadly and said together, “Love is cruel.”
Minutes passed and both went deeply in thought of their loved ones. Lisa shook her head and saw the time on the wall clock. It’s past eleven, too late. While chatting with Augustus, she didn’t realize the time at all.
She said hurriedly, “it’s too late, I should go.” And stood up. Just then something warm and strong held her wrist. She turned and looked it was Augustus. She frowned then Augustus said in a deep voice.
“Wait… I have something to tell you.”
Lisa looked at him confusingly and then nodded.
Augustus cracked a light smile and gently patted the seat next to him, signaling Lisa to sit down beside him.
Lisa hesitated for a while before she took a seat beside him.
Augustus put his arm on sofa and turned to face Lisa. As he was very close to her, so she frowned slightly.
Augustus looked at her deeply and then said in a husky voice, “Be my girlfriend.”
Lisa’s mind goes blank and her heart started beating wildly. She immediately said, “You have a fiancé already.”
Augustus suddenly came even closer. “I don’t like her, I like you. I got feelings for you.” He said in a low voice.
Lisa said hurriedly, “I am widow and I have a child, too.” She was so desperate, she could only think of this excuse.
“You can be anything, as long as you want to.” Sure enough, as soon as Augustus said this, the atmosphere changed and the air between them froze.
Their surroundings became extremely quiet. Augustus’s sharp eyes scanned her face. Lisa didn’t dare to meet his sharp gaze so she kept her head low.
Suddenly, he leaned forward again and hugged her. Lisa was stunned and went speechless. The next second, Lisa seemed to feel a different feeling.
Augustus’s body was so tense as if it was the end of the world. Lisa suddenly became flustered and remained speechless.
“Do you feel it?” Augustus asked in a deep voice.
“Yes” Lisa nodded.
Augustus held her face and looked at her affectionately. Lisa got tensed and said hurriedly, “It won’t work out.”
“Why?” Augustus asked, “I can give you anything you want.”
Lisa pursed her lips and didn’t dare to resist him. He let go of her face, stood up and said, “Wait for me, I’ll be back in a minute.”
Lisa didn’t look at him as he left the living room. After 10 minutes, Augustus walked down the stairs wearing blue trousers and white shirt. He took his car key and ordered Lisa. “Let’s go.”
Lisa followed quietly. They both sat in the car and car drove out on the street. Lisa kept looking outside the window. She can’t tell if what Augustus said was really true or he was just playing around with her?
Soon car reached to Lisa’s apartment. Lisa glanced at Augustus and said, “Thank you Mr. Augustus. Sorry to trouble you late at night.”
Augustus who was quiet all the way said, “Well, I am just trying to be ensure about my girl’s safety.”
Lisa widened her eyes. Augustus took her hand and said in a gentle and sexy tone. “Give me one chance, at least. I will try my best to keep you happy.”
Lisa felt touched by him and finally she agreed. “Okay”
Augustus deep blue eyes shone with excitement, he kissed her knuckles and let her go.
Lisa got off the car and went straight to her apartment without looking back. She couldn’t help but keep blushing and looking at her hand with a wide smile on her face like a little school girl.

Next day, while Lisa was working. Her cell phone rang, she looked at it and a smile appeared on her face. She answered the call “Hello”
“Hey, Lester is waiting for you outside.” Augustus said.
“Why?” Lisa asked.
“We’re going for lunch.” Augustus replied.
“Hmm.. but..” Lisa hesitated and tried to refuse but he interrupted.
“No ifs no buts. You said you’ll give me the chance. Don’t back out now.” He said uneasily, he knew that she would try to back out of her words that’s why he called her for lunch with him before she change her mind.
As expected, she’s trying to refuse him.
Lisa sighed and then said, “Okay, I am coming.”
“Great, I am waiting.” Augustus said happily.
After ten minutes, Lisa walked out of the hotel and saw Lester. She walked to him and greeted him.
Lester opened the car door and she sat inside. Lisa felt embarrassed and didn’t say anything whole time. After all, Augustus is engaged and she has agreed to be his girlfriend.
By doing this, what will Lester think about her?. How low she is to be with someone’s else fiancé?. These thoughts kept coming to her mind and she felt like to dig a hole and hid inside it.
Even if she want, she couldn’t turn him down. He had helped her many times and he is her Boss, too. She can’t offend him.
Once she got her son’s custody, she will go far away from him. From hotel to restaurant, it was just 10 minutes drive but for her it felt like an eternity.
Lester parked the car at the gate of Glass Hostaria and opened the door for Lisa.
Lisa came out but didn’t look at him. Lester sensed her uneasiness. “Miss Lisa.! Boss likes you very much. Since he met you he has changed. Thanks to you.” Lester explained and tried to make her feel easy.
Lisa frowned but didn’t say anything. She just nodded and followed him inside.
Lester brought her to the second floor. She remembered this room. Last time, she came here with Bella and Augustus.
Lester opened the door of the room Lisa went inside but Lester didn’t follow. He closed the door behind her. Lisa panicked and turned to the door. Just when she was touching the lock, a voice came “Still afraid of me?”
Lisa froze and didn’t dare to turn. She has some feelings for Augustus but she didn’t fully trust him at all. Lisa heard footsteps approaching her. Her body stiffed and sweat starting coming on her forehead.
Augustus sighed looking at her stiff back. He then said in a deep voice, “Lisa, I won’t touch you without your permission. Don’t worry.” He then turned around disappointedly and said, “Come, Let’s eat.”
Lisa turned around slowly trying to maintain her calm posture to face him. But for her surprise, he was already sitting at the seat and was busy at choosing dishes.
She embarrassedly walked to the table and sat to his right. The way she reacted now was very foolish. She is a mother of a child and still she acted like one. Shit..! She cursed herself in her heart.
“I am sorry, I didn’t come to pick you. I don’t feel it right. You know… people will talk nonsense if they see us together.” Augustus explained her. He knew he is rushing in this, but he didn’t have any choice. Since, he last saw her in his home, he felt a warm feeling of home with her.
Lisa looked at him and said, “It’s fine Mr. Augustus you said it right. Even I also wanted to discuss about it. It will be good if we keep our personal and professional life separate.”
She paused, “By the way, what happened just now was very foolish of me, it won’t happen again.” She said apologetically.
“Forget it and let’s eat. I am hungry.” Augustus said calmly. He picked the shrimps and started opening it and put it on Lisa’s plate.
Lisa frowned but didn’t stop him. “Eat” he commanded. Lisa took the shrimp and ate. It was good but she didn’t like steamed shrimps really much. Augustus saw her indifferent look and asked concernly, “You don’t like shrimps?”
“No… No.. Actually I like fried shrimps more and spicy too..” she said in a low voice.
“Ohh… okay. Next time I’ll ask the cook to make it the way you like it.” He said with a reassuring smile.
At that moment, Lisa felt lost by his charm. Is there any girl in this world, who can’t get hit by his charm?. She got lost In her deep thoughts. “Eat” Augustus reminded her.
They both ate silently. Lisa than asked him suddenly, “Didn’t you say. You can’t eat outside.?”
Augustus nodded.
Lisa couldn’t help but to ask him that why he’s here now with her.
