Chapter 43

Book:Werewolf Burke Sisters Published:2024-5-1

“Elaina; your daughters have completely lost their minds! They’re totally out of control! … What are planning on doing about this?”
Before Mom even has a chance to respond … luckily, at that moment … there’s a knock at the front door; and, Dad calls out…
“The door’s unlocked; come on in.”
One of Alpha Gordon’s personal attendants enters, and informs our father…
“Pardon the intrusion, Gamma Stephen; but, Alpha Gordon wishes to speak with you as soon as you’re done resolving your family’s issue.”
Once again, Dad rebukingly glares at us; while scowling. He grumbles; with evident vexation in his inflection…
“It’s apparent to me that my family’s issue is far from being resolved any time soon … so; I might as well go speak with Alpha Gordon, now.”
Dad angrily stomps out of the house.

Meanwhile; over in the hotel lobby…
After her flagrant swipe at the two behemoths, the personal assistant is becoming nervously anxious; and, mind-links to the Alpha…
“Shouldn’t we move in, now? Brianna just…”
“Not yet. Let’s wait and see what happens next.”
“But…”
“I said we wait; Phil.”
Phillip sighs. “As you wish; my Alpha.”
Brianna continues to read her book, while the two Luminary Pack members remain momentarily perplexed; gawking down at their slashed clothing. But, shortly; one of them growls at her in low, muffled manner…
“Listen up; you little, pup-bitch … that was just a lucky strike; so, don’t go getting too cocky. Don’t push your luck.”
Brianna ignores him; keeping her nose buried in her book. This instantly irks him; and, he scowls at her, while issuing a not-so-veiled threat…
“I see … the little, pup-bitch wants to act all big and bad; just because she knows that there are some of her fellow pack members close by watching over her. … That’s right; we know they’re here. We can smell them. … But; the question you need to ask yourself is … will they be able to reach you in time, before we hurt you?”
Still keeping her nose buried in her book; Brianna quips, in an indifferent manner…
“Actually; the question you need to ask yourselves is … will they be able to reach me in time, before I take the two of you down?”
The two behemoths look to one another, and laugh; then, the other one haughtily scoffs…
“Please; little girl … you’re going to take us down with those dinky claws of yours? Even if you do manage to get in another lucky hit on us; those tiny things would barely scratch the surface.”
Once again; they laugh. Brianna quips; now, in an aloof manner…
“Is that so? Well; if that’s the case … how about I use these, instead?”
Brianna slowly raises her head up from her book; and, intensely glares at the smirking behemoths towering over her … now displaying widened, fully-dilated, jet black pupils; each fixedly-centered within a field of vibrantly beaming, sky blue that has fully encompassed the whites of her eyes.
She proceeds to fully-protract the claws on her right hand … extending them out from about a quarter of an inch, to around six inches in length … and, ominously wavers her fingers closely about; scraping her razor-sharp claws against one another.
Stupefied … their jaws abruptly drop; and, they hurriedly take a few steps back. … At the same time; Alpha Casper immediately mind-links…
“I’ve seen enough. Everyone; move in, quickly. But, try not to draw too much attention to yourselves while doing so.”
Despite all the bold rhetoric he spouted earlier to Phillip about how he wasn’t concerned over exposing their species’ existence to the human race; Alpha Casper isn’t as radical as he previously seemed to be … and, has quickly resolved that even though it will surely inevitably happen one day; now isn’t the time. And … having given it a little more thought, as he was watching this incident play out … the Alpha really doesn’t want his daughter to be implicated in the exposure of their kind.
The Alpha, his personal assistant, and the Security Detail inconspicuously rush over towards the sectional couch in the mezzanine area, and strategically cordon off the area; surrounding the two Luminary Pack members.
“Hm – hm…” Alpha Casper loudly clears his throat to draw the Luminary Pack members attention; nudges them aside, and stands in front of his daughter; then, leans over and whispers in her ear, “Brianna; retract your claws … right now.”
There’s an evident impishness twinkling in her still vibrantly beaming, sky blue eyes, as Brianna stares back up at the two behemoths; then, she tauntingly wavers her claws one last time before retracting them. Right after that, Brianna displays a mischievous grimace; then, purses her lips, and protracts her upper front, canine-like incisor fangs to further goad them.
Alpha Casper once again leans over, and sternly whispers in her ear, “That’ll be enough; Brianna! Pull your fangs back in, and behave … don’t do anything else that might draw attention to yourself!”
Brianna retracts her fangs; then, buries her nose back in her book, and continues reading … as her eyes gradually return to normal.
Alpha Casper turns to the Luminary Pack members, and fiercely glares at them. Making sure to keep his voice lowered; he quietly growls…
“How dare you approach my daughter, and threaten her.”
One of them scoffs; as he pulls his clothes outward to show the Alpha the damage sustained to them by Brianna…
“Us threaten her? … It’s more like she’s the one who threatened us.”
The other one concurs; as he adds, “That’s right … if anyone here was throwing out threats, it was her; not us. … We heard rumors through the grapevine that she was a little wild beast; but, we thought they were only falsified embellishments, and wanted to find out for ourselves. Who knew they were actually true.”
Alpha Casper snarls, “Then you admit that you were targeting my daughter!”
