Chapter 41

Book:Werewolf Burke Sisters Published:2024-5-1

“Be warned; I’m in a very foul mood, right now. Think carefully before answering; and, be mindful of how you reply. I’ve already been highly aggrieved by my other three daughters this morning; so, you two are my last hope of having daughters I can be proud of.
Now; let me ask you, again … where were you last night; and, what were you doing?”
Daphne suddenly emerges for a brief moment; and, has me angrily blurt out…
“I’ll tell you what they were doing … those sluts were fucking our mate!”
Dad rebukingly glares at me; while, fiercely snapping…
“Enough; you insufferable, little wretch … shut your mouth!! How dare you spew such vile lies about your sweet, innocent ‘baby sisters’; falsely accusing them of having premarital sex!! … Do you really expect me to believe such preposterous accusations? They would never do such a thing. Never!”
Bellona raises her hand up to tenderly stroke my hair; and, turns her head back to briefly nuzzle her nose against my cheek, while whispering…
“Shh … it’s okay, Daphne; try to stay calm.”
Bellona gently pulls my arms apart to release herself from my embrace, and walks over to Raina and Rhiana; then, begins to vigorously sniff the air around them. Shortly, she devilishly grins at the twins; and, nervously guilt-ridden expressions rapidly overtake their countenances…
“Funny … smells like sex to me.” She looks to Dad, and goads, “Are you really all that confident in your ‘baby girls’ ‘ innocence?”
Bellona turns back to the twins; and, scrutinizes over them with a discerning eye. Once again, she devilishly grins…
“Are these new outfits; I don’t remember ever seeing you wearing them before. … Hold on a sec; don’t tell me they’re compensation for a job well done … sort of payment for services rendered?”
Dad’s face instantly turns to a dark, beet-red shade, as he angrily scowls; and, fiercely snaps…
“Shut your mouth; Bellona!! Watch what you say about…”
Daphne has me curtly interject, “See … I told you those whore-sluts fucked our mate!”
I tell her … Daphne, I know you’re angry, girl; but please, stop calling them those horrible names. They are our sisters, after all.
“Sorry, Pomona; but, I call them like I see them … and, right now; all I see are two whore-slut, bitches standing over there.”
Dad’s face still appears extremely flushed; and, he continues to intensely scowl … although now, he seems to be momentarily at a lost for words. Mom’s face, on the other hand, is immediately overtaken by a befuddled expression; and, she quizzically asks…
“Your mate? What mate? You don’t have a mate; Pomona … do you?”
Almost immediately; our father heartily scoffs, “Of course she doesn’t have a mate. Who would ever willingly take her on as their mate?”
Daphne has me indignantly proclaim, “Casper Whitmore; that’s who.”

Meanwhile; over in the hotel lobby…
Phillip mind-links over to Casper…
“I understand why you’re always insisting on wanting to test Brianna to see how she would react in certain situations; and, totally get where you’re coming from. … But; are you sure now is the ideal time and place to conduct another test? Aren’t you worried that she may create a scene; and, risk exposing our kind’s existence in front of these humans?”
Casper nonchalantly responds…
“Sooner or later, I’m sure these clueless, hairless apes will eventually wise up; and, finally learn about our existence … realizing that werewolves are not merely a product of superstitious lore; but rather, an actual race that has been clandestinely coexisting among them for centuries.
And, when that inevitably does happen; should Brianna be the one who brings about that startling revelation to them … well; so be it. As far as I’m concerned, that could be considered quite the dubious honor; don’t you think … being the father of the werewolf who finally brings our race out to light.
Let’s be honest here, Phil; fact is, we’re a far superior species compared to these lowly humans … so, why should we be the ones always hiding in the shadows; keeping our existence a secret? We should be proudly standing out above them; ruling this world.”
Phillip contends…
“Sure; there’s no doubt that we’re the superior species … you won’t get an argument there from me … but; there’s also no denying that they’re far superior in numbers to us. And, that has always been the determining factor in us having to keep our existence unknown to them; Alpha Casper.
So, with all due respect; again, I have to ask you … are you sure you want us to stay back, and let Brianna deal with this by herself?”
“I’m sure.” Casper briefly pauses; before instructing, “But, should things look like they’re going to escalate … and, it looks as if Brianna’s going to expose herself … then; we’ll rush in and take control over the situation.”
After emitting a subtle sigh of relief; Phillip replies…
“Understood; Alpha Casper.”
Brianna keeps her nose buried in her book reading; which is annoying the two scowling, hulking, unfamiliar individuals even more. One of them lowly growls…
“Listen here, little girl; you better watch that smart-mouth of yours, and start cooperating with us, if you know what’s good for you. Now, pay attention; because, we need to talk about…”
Still reading her book; Brianna asks, “Are you from the Rainier Pack?”
They laugh; then, the other one haughtily replies…
“Please; don’t lump us in with that sorry, weak-ass pack … we’re from the Luminary Pack.”
Brianna keeps her nose buried in her book, as she flippantly quips…
“Since you’re not part of my pack, or from the Rainier Pack; then, I don’t need to talk to you. So, if you don’t mind … or, even if you do; I don’t care, either way … will you two just be quiet, and leave me alone, now … I’d like to finish reading my book.”
Infuriated; they jump up, and menacingly stand in front of Brianna … ominously towering over her diminutive, petite tiny-self. Brianna finally looks up from her book, and stares up at the encroaching behemoths; while exuding an impish, little grin. She protracts the tips of her claws … not fully; only extending them out about a quarter of an inch, or so … then, buries her nose back in her book.
They look at each other, and smugly smirk.
