Hire you

“Anyway, what do you mean by she is stalking you?”

“Well, here’s the thing. I bought a house 5 years back. I have been trying to restore it and fix all the broken things since I came back.”

“…”

“I’ll take you for a tour one of these days. Hey, how about you help me with the interior design. I can hire you on freelancing, I was meaning to hire a freelance interior designer anyway.”

“Hold on, will you? What are you talking about? Weren’t you going to tell me about being stalked? How did it turn into your house?”

“Damn. I was hoping you wouldn’t notice.”

“Really?”

“Alright. No jokes.”

“Get to the point.”

“Well, that’s the thing. I have not told anyone, not even Ria, that I bought a house. I just told everyone that I was helping my friend with some restoration work at his grandpa’s old house. So, they don’t really know where I am all day unless I’m helping Ria with something related to her wedding.”

“Umm.”

“Anyway, Supriya has always been rather up to date on my whereabouts. It did not really matter before because I only came back here once a year and just for a few days. She gets along with my mother very well, she almost always gets her intel from her.

Mom never asks me too many questions about my private life, but from the last 3 days, she has been asking me several times what I was doing all day long and where I go, and all that. After talking to her for a while, I figured it was Supriya adding words to her mouth.

And today, when I got out of the house, I thought someone was following me. So, I did some basic reconnaissance and it was her.

I don’t think she figured it out. I just let her stalk me, turning around every now and then as if I thought something was wrong.

I went to the mall, and bought some jewelry for Ria, went to Ria’s office with her favorite food, and then went to Pete’s. I sneaked out from Pete’s and came here after making sure I was not being followed.

That’s also why I told you to avoid being seen.”

“That’s troublesome!”

“…” “I know I’m sorry. You can still back out if you want. I will find some other way to deal with her.”

“Oh!”

“I do really hope you will help though.”

“Is this a carrot and stick?”

“Depends! Is it working?”

“Maybe!”

“I just think it’ll be fun to do it together.”

“I think we have different ideas of what we call fun.”

“Why don’t I think so?”

Rosaline was deep in thoughts as William re-filled her glass and added food to her plate.
