“Yeah, we kissed, he gave me my first kiss”
“Iam a fool Rita” I brushed the tears flowing out already, ” iam a fool to think he likes me”
“Ohhhh Kelsi…” Rita hugged me.
I’m sorry about that, I have always noticed the way he looks at you in the eatry, How his eyes lit up whenever you walk in. He likes you, but I don’t know why he is behaving that way” Rita said softly releasing me from her embrace.
“Likes me? Yeah, he sure does” I said sarcastically.
When we got to Rita’s street, I bid her goodbye and I was all alone with my thoughts walking home and wandering back to today’s episode in school.
An hour later I got home and met mum sleeping, I was too tired to inform her of my presence as i slowly pull off my uniform and changed into a short&singlet and lay beside her, I sighed trying to keep my eyes opened, remembering what had happened earlier in school and what I would have done to Anita of Rita had not intervene.
Gradually I slept off.
I woke up later to noticed everywhere was dark and mum was no longer beside me.
On looking at the clock, it showed 7:20 pm.
“What?” I opened my eyes wider to be sure I wasn’t seeing something different, I slept for 5 hours??
Slowly I stood up from the bed, I was weak and my stomach rumbled furiously. I looked at the stool close to the bed and saw a nylon, I checked it and saw a take away pack.
I hurriedly opened it and saw mouth watering jollof spag and meat, I didn’t even look for spoon I dug into it immediately.
Five minutes later the plate was empty, I was still hungry.
My head turned to look who was coming in, when I heard the door open.
“Kelsi! You’re awake” mum announced as strolled into the room, dropping her bag on the table.
“Yeah! Sorry I slept for long” I rubbed my neck and thank her for the meal.
I looked mum face clearly, and saw she was looking a bit sad.
“What’s wrong mum?” I became concerned.
“Mr Raphael had an accident this evening when coming back from a meeting at Abuja” mum exhaled heavily.
“What? An accident? How?” I almost screamed.
Mr Raphael! My God! I was horrified.
“Why mr Raphael, dear lord?”
“Why do bad things happen to good people? I thought out loud.
Tears welled my eyes, I and i remembered Lexy, I wonder what he might be going through at the moment because he is the closest to his father, “I have to see him” if not for anything, I just need to console him.
Quickly I showered, changed my clothes and left the room without even telling my mum where I was heading to, I walked straight to Mr Raphael residence, I went there looking for Lexy, though I was mad at him for what he did earlier today, I just want to see and console him.
I met him outside, hands folded with his head bent. I realized he already heard about the news of his Dad, i felt bad and sorry for him.
“Lexy!” My voice was barely a whisper as I called out his name.
